    Abstract(#br)The global existence and regularity problem on the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) equations with fractional dissipation is not well understood for many ranges of fractional powers. This paper examines this open problem from a different perspective. We construct a class of large solutions to the d -dimensional ( d=2,3d=2,3 d = 2 , 3 ) MHD equations with any fractional power. The process presented here actually assesses that an initial data near any function whose Fourier transform lives in a compact set away from the origin always leads to a unique and global solution

    Future Changes in Mean and Extreme Monsoon Precipitation in the Middle and Lower Yangtze River Basin, China, in the CMIP5 Models

    In this study, the potential future changes of mean and extreme precipitation in the middle and lower Yangtze River basin (MLYRB), eastern China, are assessed using the models of phase 5 of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP5). Historical model simulations are first compared with observations in order to evaluate model performance. In general, the models simulate the precipitation mean and frequency better than the precipitation intensity and extremes, but still have difficulty capturing precipitation patterns over complex terrains. They tend to overestimate precipitation mean, frequency, and intensity while underestimating the extremes. After correcting for model biases, the spatial variation of mean precipitation projected by the multimodel ensemble mean (MME) is improved, so the MME after the bias correction is used to project changes for the years 2021–50 and 2071–2100 relative to 1971–2000 under two emission scenarios: RCP4.5 and RCP8.5. Results show that with global warming, precipitation will become less frequent but more intense over the MLYRB. Relative changes in extremes generally exceed those in mean precipitation. Moreover, increased precipitation extremes are also expected even in places where mean precipitation is projected to decrease in 2021–50. The overall increase in extreme precipitation could potentially lead to more frequent floods in this already flood-prone region

    Oxygen isotope composition of surface snow collected along the traverse route from Zhongshan Station toward Dome A, Antarctica

    Oxygen isotope composition of surface snow sampled in the austral summer of 1998/1999 along the traverse route from Zhongshan Station toward Dome A, Antarctica is measured with the conventional mass spectrometer technique. The results of measurement show that oxygen isotope composition of surface snow varies in a wide range from -22.51‰ to -50.67‰, and has a tendency that isotopic values gradually decrease with increase of distance from Zhongshan Station and altitude. Linear regression analysis indicates that there exists good correlation between oxygen isotope composition of surface snow and distance from Zhongshan Station, altitude and/or latitude, which actually reflects the close relation between stable isotope composition and air temperature

    STIDNet: Identity-Aware Face Forgery Detection with Spatiotemporal Knowledge Distillation

    The impressive development of facial manipulation techniques has raised severe public concerns. Identity-aware methods, especially suitable for protecting celebrities, are seen as one of promising face forgery detection approaches with additional reference video. However, without in-depth observation of fake video’s characteristics, most existing identity-aware algorithms are just naive imitation of face verification model and fail to exploit discriminative information. In this article, we argue that it is necessary to take both spatial and temporal perspectives into consideration for adequate inconsistency clues and propose a novel forgery detector named SpatioTemporal IDentity network (STIDNet). To effectively capture heterogeneous spatiotemporal information in a unified formulation, our STIDNet is following a knowledge distillation architecture that the student identity extractor receives supervision from a spatial information encoder (SIE) and a temporal information encoder (TIE) through multiteacher training. Specifically, a regional sensitive identity modelling paradigm is proposed in SIE by introducing facial blending augmentation but with uniform identity label, thus encourage model to focus on spatial discriminative region like outer face. Meanwhile, considering the strong temporal correlation between audio and talking face video, our TIE is devised in a cross-modal pattern that the audio information is introduced to supervise model exploiting temporal personalized movements. Benefit from knowledge transfer from SIE and TIE, STIDNet is able to capture individual’s essential spatiotemporal identity attributes and sensitive to even subtle identity deviation caused by manipulation. Extensive experiments indicate the superiority of our STIDNet compared with previous works. Moreover, we also demonstrate STIDNet is more suitable for real-world implementation in terms of model complexity and reference set size

    Integrated metabolomics and lipidomics evaluate the alterations of flavor precursors in chicken breast muscle with white striping symptom

    White striping (WS) is the most common myopathy in the broiler chicken industry. To reveal flavor changes of WS meat objectively, flavor precursors of WS breast muscle were evaluated systematically with integrated metabolomics and lipidomics. The results showed that WS could be distinguished from normal controls by E-nose, and four volatile compounds (o-xylene, benzene, 1,3-dimethyl, 2-heptanone and 6-methyl and Acetic acid and ethyl ester) were detected as decreased compounds by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Lipidomic analysis showed that WS breast fillets featured increased neutral lipid (83.8%) and decreased phospholipid molecules (33.2%). Targeted metabolomic analysis indicated that 16 hydrophilic metabolites were altered. Thereinto, some water-soluble flavor precursors, such as adenosine monophosphate, GDP-fucose and L-arginine increased significantly, but fructose 1,6-bisphosphate and L-histidine significantly decreased in the WS group. These results provided a systematic evaluation of the flavor precursors profile in the WS meat of broiler chickens

    Association of inpatient use of angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors and angiotensin II receptor blockers with mortality among patients with hypertension hospitalized with COVID-19

    Rationale: Use of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs) and angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) is a major concern for clinicians treating coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in patients with hypertension. Objective: To determine the association between in-hospital use of ACEI/ARB and all-cause mortality in COVID-19 patients with hypertension. Methods and Results: This retrospective, multi-center study included 1128 adult patients with hypertension diagnosed with COVID-19, including 188 taking ACEI/ARB (ACEI/ARB group; median age 64 [IQR 55-68] years; 53.2% men) and 940 without using ACEI/ARB (non-ACEI/ARB group; median age 64 [IQR 57-69]; 53.5% men), who were admitted to nine hospitals in Hubei Province, China from December 31, 2019 to February 20, 2020. Unadjusted mortality rate was lower in the ACEI/ARB group versus the non-ACEI/ARB group (3.7% vs. 9.8%; P = 0.01). In mixed-effect Cox model treating site as a random effect, after adjusting for age, gender, comorbidities, and in-hospital medications, the detected risk for all-cause mortality was lower in the ACEI/ARB group versus the non-ACEI/ARB group (adjusted HR, 0.42; 95% CI, 0.19-0.92; P =0.03). In a propensity score-matched analysis followed by adjusting imbalanced variables in mixed-effect Cox model, the results consistently demonstrated lower risk of COVID-19 mortality in patients who received ACEI/ARB versus those who did not receive ACEI/ARB (adjusted HR, 0.37; 95% CI, 0.15-0.89; P = 0.03). Further subgroup propensity score-matched analysis indicated that, compared to use of other antihypertensive drugs, ACEI/ARB was also associated with decreased mortality (adjusted HR, 0.30; 95%CI, 0.12-0.70; P = 0.01) in COVID-19 patients with hypertension. Conclusions: Among hospitalized COVID-19 patients with hypertension, inpatient use of ACEI/ARB was associated with lower risk of all-cause mortality compared with ACEI/ARB non-users. While study interpretation needs to consider the potential for residual confounders, it is unlikely that in-hospital use of ACEI/ARB was associated with an increased mortality risk

    Changing Characteristics of Precipitation in China during 1960–2012

    In this study, we investigated changes in the precipitation characteristics for China from 1960 to 2012 based on a recent daily precipitation dataset of 666 climate stations and robust non-parametric trend detection techniques. We divided all precipitation events into four non-overlapping categories: light, moderate, heavy and very heavy based on percentile thresholds. We then established the trends for annual total and precipitation of different intensity categories, and examined their regional and seasonal variations. The results show that there was little change in annual total precipitation for entire China, but distinctive regional patterns existed. In general, precipitation increased in the west and decreased in east. Precipitation of different intensities, in general, changed in the same direction as the mean, but heavy and very heavy precipitation events had higher rates of change than mean precipitation. The exception was the southeast region, where despite the slight decrease in mean precipitation, heavy and very heavy precipitation still increased significantly. In addition, we used multiple regression models to explore the contribution of changes of frequency and intensity to total precipitation change, and the contributions of changes of precipitation at different intensities to total precipitation change. For western China, total precipitation change was associated more with frequency change, whereas in eastern China intensity contributed more. For precipitation amount, moderate, heavy and very heavy precipitations contributed to the total change, with little contribution from light precipitation change. For frequency, changes in light and moderate precipitation frequencies dominated the total change, with very little contributions from heavy and very heavy precipitation frequency changes. In addition, we examined the linkage between summer precipitation in eastern China and the East-Asian Summer Monsoon (EASM), found that the northern decrease and southern increase in summer precipitation was likely caused by the weakening of EASM over the study period

    Protein expression profiling identifies a prognostic model for ovarian cancer

    Abstract Background Owing to the high morbidity and mortality, ovarian cancer has seriously endangered female health. Development of reliable models can facilitate prognosis monitoring and help relieve the distress. Methods Using the data archived in the TCPA and TCGA databases, proteins having significant survival effects on ovarian cancer patients were screened by univariate Cox regression analysis. Patients with complete information concerning protein expression, survival, and clinical variables were included. A risk model was then constructed by performing multiple Cox regression analysis. After validation, the predictive power of the risk model was assessed. The prognostic effect and the biological function of the model were evaluated using co-expression analysis and enrichment analysis. Results 394 patients were included in model construction and validation. Using univariate Cox regression analysis, we identified a total of 20 proteins associated with overall survival of ovarian cancer patients (p < 0.01). Based on multiple Cox regression analysis, six proteins (GSK3α/β, HSP70, MEK1, MTOR, BAD, and NDRG1) were used for model construction. Patients in the high-risk group had unfavorable overall survival (p < 0.001) and poor disease-specific survival (p = 0.001). All these six proteins also had survival prognostic effects. Multiple Cox regression analysis demonstrated the risk model as an independent prognostic factor (p < 0.001). In receiver operating characteristic curve analysis, the risk model displayed higher predictive power than age, tumor grade, and tumor stage, with an area under the curve value of 0.789. Analysis of co-expressed proteins and differentially expressed genes based on the risk model further revealed its prognostic implication. Conclusions The risk model composed of GSK3α/β, HSP70, MEK1, MTOR, BAD, and NDRG1 could predict survival prognosis of ovarian cancer patients efficiently and help disease management

    Identification of Candidate Genes for Meat Color of Chicken by Combing Selection Signature Analyses and Differentially Expressed Genes

    Meat color, an important index of chicken quality, is highly related to heme pigment, glycolysis, and intramuscular fat metabolisms. The objective of this study is to obtain candidate genes associated with meat color in chickens based on the comparison of fast-growing, white-feathered chickens (Line B) and slow-growing, yellow-feathered chickens (Jingxing Yellow), which have significant differences in meat color. The differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between Line B and Jingxing Yellow were identified in beast muscle. The fixation index (FST) method was used to detect signatures of positive selection between the two breeds. Screening of 1109 genes by the FST and 1317 candidate DEGs identified by RNA-seq. After gene ontology analysis along with the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes, 16 genes associated with glycolysis, fatty acid metabolism, protein metabolism, and heme content were identified as candidate genes that regulate the color of chicken breast meat, especially TBXAS1 (redness), GDPD5 (yellowness), SLC2A6 (lightness), and MMP27 (lightness). These findings should be helpful for further elucidating the molecular mechanisms and developing molecular markers to facilitate the selection of chicken meat color
