Joint beamforming and channel estimation for pilot-aided WCDMA systems

The problem of joint beamforming and channel estimation for multi-rate multi-code systems is addressed. Usual schemes perform this filtering/estimation operation making use of a training sequence time-multiplexed with the transmitted data. However if pilot and traffic signals are transmitted simultaneously using distinct code allocation-as it is the case in recent standards such as cdma2000 or WCDMA-these schemes tend to fail. This paper proposes semi-blind techniques to overcome the uplink auto-interfering effects of such systems. Adaptive Beamforming for High Bit Rate Services in the FDD Mode of UTRA

Most time-reference beamforming algorithms suffer from severe beampattern distortion effects when applied to high bit rate services in WCDMA, causing serious performance degradation in terms of output BER, especially at high input SINR levels. These shortcomings are essentially caused by the uplink multiplexing of the traffic channel, which is seen by the base station as a powerful interfering source coming from the direction of arrival of the desired user. In this paper, a semi-blind beamforming technique is proposed as a valid solution to overcome this effect. In this paper we characterize the process of technological monitoring like enterprise answer to the necessary adjustment to turbulent environments and like origin of competitive advantages. In this respect we fulfil a theoretical critique, a strategic analysis of the above-mentioned monitoring like tool for the competitive development of the company in sectors involved with the research, development and innovation (R+D+i), as well as a sequential adjustment to the development of aquaculture. Desarrollo y optimización de un sistema automático de monitorización del proceso de biosorción del ion cobre (II) en raspo de uva

El problema de la contaminación de las aguas es, sin duda, uno de los aspectos más preocupantes de la degradación de los medios naturales por parte de la civilización contemporánea. En este sentido, es especialmente importante la contaminación producida por metales pesados, debido a su elevada toxicidad y a su alta capacidad de permanencia en los medios y de acumulación en organismos vivos. A causa al crecimiento exponencial de la población mundial, la necesidad de controlar las emisiones de estos metales al medio ambiente es cada vez más importante. La búsqueda de métodos de eliminación de metales que sean económicos y efectivos, ha llevado al desarrollo de nuevas tecnologías de separación basadas en la reutilización de compuestos orgánicos: éste es el caso de la biosorción. Con esta motivación, se realiza el presente proyecto cuyo fin es facilitar la monitorización y el estudio del proceso, y así ayudar en el avance de las investigaciones en este campo. Los diferentes estudios llevados a cabo han permitido sentar las bases para el futuro desarrollo de un analizador automático que permita la monitorización en tiempo real de varios procesos de biosorción del ion cobre (II) en raspo de uva. Para ello, se ha utilizado como técnica analítica la potenciometría en sistemas de flujo continuo, analizando la respuesta del sistema tanto en estado estacionario como en condiciones FIA (Flow Injection Analisys). Los resultados de los experimentos realizados han permitido: obtener un sistema de flujo que asegura el correcto funcionamiento del sistema de análisis, definir los parámetros operacionales que permiten la obtención de datos fiables en el menor tiempo posible, establecer la periodicidad con que debe recalibrarse el sistema de detección para asegurar la fiabilidad de los datos obtenidos, encontrar los aspectos que influyen negativamente en la respuesta del sistema y proponer mejoras para minimizar los efectos que éstos producen

PERCEPCIÓN EMPRESARIAL DE LA MEJORA DEL ENLACE FERROVIARIO VIGO-OPORTO Y MODELIZACIÓN DE LA ELECCIÓN MODAL

El presente trabajo analiza el empleo del ferrocarril por parte de las empresas gallegas que transaccionan con operadores del Norte de Portugal. Demostramos el uso residual de dicha infraestructura (0,01% de las transacciones totales) frente al empleo masivo del camión, determinamos factores explicativos de la elección modal y de la eventual substitución camión versus ferrocarril. El estudio estadístico incluye como universo empresas representativas de los sectores industriales y las principales consignatarias de líneas regulares del puerto de Vigo. Proponemos un modelo formativo de ecuaciones estructurales y una regresión lineal explicativos de la elección modal y de la incidencia de ésta sobre la referida substitución. Concluimos que tanto empresas como operadores logísticos (siendo estos últimos más sensibles al cambio) valoran la necesidad de mejorar las infraestructuras en el enlace comentado, si bien consideran prioritaria la liberalización real del mercado de operadores ferroviarios, sin ella la mejora anterior no afectaría significativamente a la elección modal

Mass flowering crops in a patchy agricultural landscape can reduce bee abundance in adjacent shrublands

Pollinator spill-over among habitats can arise in order to fulfill the pollination function and whenever differences in floral offering change over time or space. Flowering crops offer pulsed and abundant floral resources (i.e., mass flowering crops) that might promote pollinator spill-over between cultivated and adjacent natural areas. We explored pollinator patterns in the mass flowering legume crop Hedysarum coronarium and its influence on the bee pollinator communities of adjacent shrublands in a heterogeneous and patchy agricultural landscape. We studied the temporal (i.e., during vs. after mass flowering in adjacent shrublands) and spatial (i.e., inside crops, adjacent and distant shrublands during mass flowering) functional pollinator spill-over. The honeybee was highly attracted to Hedysarum crops, yet its abundance and that of other bee species visiting native plants in adjacent shrublands did not differ during and after Hedysarum mass flowering. However, at the landscape scale, the honeybee and the other bee species were less abundant in shrublands adjacent to Hedysarum crops compared to distant ones; their visitation rates showing a similar trend. These results show that some mass flowering crops can influence pollinator patterns in the surrounding landscape by competing for generalist pollinators with native plants. The characteristics of the crop species and the landscape can modulate and determine the role of mass flowering crops as competitors or supporters of wild pollinators for adjacent natural areas.Peer reviewe
