    Star fruits (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) from family of oxalidaceae is a plant which has potential as an antibacterial Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. Flavonoid are the active compounds from the extract of star fruit which has potential as an antibacterial. Star fruit were extracting by ethanol 96 % using maceration. Extract were identified using thin layer chromatography (TLC) with eluent analytic n-butanol- glacial acetic acid- water (6:1:3). Preparative isolation using thin layer chromatography resulting three bands. Each band was centrifuged to obtain isolates. Physics isolates were analyzing using spectrophotometer UV Vis and chemically using color test (shift reagent). UV Vis spectrum results with shift reagent from isolates 1, suspected as isoflavone compound with OH groups in position 6,7,4 and OH groups in O- ring A, in isolates 2 was not flavonoid compound and predicted as other polyphenolic compound and in isolates 3 suspected of flavone compound with OH groups in position 5,6,7 and OH groups in O-ring

    . Multiple-Intelligences-Based (MIB) instruction is an instruction applied to encourage students\u27 growth and development of multiple intelligence. This study aims to investigate the effect of MIB instruction theory on metacognition awareness and learning outcome in Biology instruction of students. A quasi experimental design was used. Non random sampling was applied based on the research population that covered the student of SMPN 11 Mataram, which resulted VIIIA as the experimental class and VIIIF as the controlled class. In order to determine the effect of MI-based instruction compared with traditional instruction, observation sheets were utilized to assess lesson plan accomplishment. In order to assess the metacognition awareness of the learners in Biology subject, the Metacognitive Awareness Inventory (MAI) was employed and to assess the Biology learning outcome that consisted of multiple-choice test. A t-test for independent sample was used to compare experimental and control groups post-test results. The results of the study indicated that MIB instruction had a significant effect on metacognition awareness and Biology learning outcome of VIII grade students of SMPN 11 Mataram compared with conventional instruction

    Penelitian ini bertujuan 1). Untuk mengetahui faktor sosial ekonomi apa saja yang ada pada petani kebun karet yang beralih ke kebun kelapa sawit di Kecamatan Pamenang Kabupaten Merangin, 2). Untuk mengetahui hubungan faktor sosial ekonomi dengan petani kebun karet yang beralih ke kebun kelapa sawit. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 20 Mei – 20 Juni 2013. Penelitian ini dilakukan didua Desa, Desa Pelakar Jaya dan Tanah Abang. Pengumpulan data penelitian ini terdiri dari data primer dan data skunder. Untuk memperoleh data yang lebih mendalam dilakukan wawancara (In-depht interview) dan observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktor sosial ekonmi di daerah penelitian tergolong tinggi, namun dari faktor sosial ekonomi itu hanya pengetahuan berusahatani dan motif ekonomi yang mempunyai hubungan yang sangat nyata terhadap pengalihan kebun karet ke kebun kelapa sawit, sedangkan pengalaman berusahatani, jumlah tanggungan keluarga dan harapan pendapatan USAhatani tidak terdapat hubungan yang nyata terhadap pengalihan kebun karet ke kebun kelapa sawit. Pengalihan lahan perlu peran dan bimbingan penyuluh lapangan dan pemerintah agar lebih sesuai dengan yang diinginkan, petani juga perlu mempertimbangkan terlebih dahulu apakah USAhatani ini menguntungkan atau justru sebaliknya

    Meatballs are processed meat products that very popular in Indonesia. Making meatballs is not just using animal material only, but also can be used plant materials such as oyster mushrooms. The meatballs can be made in various forms, such as a round shape or a box shape. This study aims to determine the nutrient content (moisture, ash, fat, protein, and carbohydrates) in several formula meatballs box of oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) and find the best formula on the meatballs box oyster mushrooms, the nutrients (fat, protein, and carbohydrates), as well as the ash and moisture content. The study was designed using completely randomized design (CRD), which consists of six treatments and two replications. Parameters measured were as hedonic organoleptic include color, aroma, flavor and texture, using 15 panelists and nutrient analysis includes the levels of fat, protein, carbohydrate, ash content and water content. The results showed that the formulation of meatballs box, panelists preferred the formula II from another formula with a value of 3.06 based on color, aroma, flavor, and texture. The results of nutritional analysis were fat content of 0.77, protein content of 16:28 value, carbohydrate content of 31.4, ash content of 1:46 and water content of 9.44

    A review on systematic study of cellulose

    This review attempts to bring together basic and systematic information which has been gathered on cellulose structure, types, principally that of native cellulose, over the last few decades. Even though advances have been made in the field of crystallography, powder crystallography cannot yield a definitive cellulose structure and single crystal diffraction is not possible due to the lack of suitable crystals. Knowledge obtained on the biosynthesis of native cellulose and on the polymorphy of cellulose and its derivatives help our understanding of ultrastructure. Many inconsistencies between early crystallographic studies of native cellulose have been clarified by the discovery that two polymorphs (á and â) of cellulose I exist. Models of the possible ultrastructural arrangements within native cellulose have been put forward over the decades; with advancement in technology, computer simulations of small and large systems are being created to test the viability of these ultrastructural models. It is hoped that this review will aid in the understanding of the complexity and uncertainties that still exist in this subject

    The performance of modified jatropha-based nanofluid during turning process

    The industry's extensive use of petroleum-based metalworking fluid (MWF) harms the environment and humans. The production of bio-based MWF, especially from crude jatropha oil (CJO), has therefore taken numerous initiatives. This aimed to formulate newly modified jatropha oil (MJO) with the addition of 0.05wt.% hBN and 0.05wt.% MoS2 as the nanofluid for MWF. The performance of the nanofluids was determined through the turning process in terms of cutting temperature, workpiece surface roughness, tool life and tool wear of the tool lubricated by the nanofluids. The performance of the nanofluid samples was compared with the synthetic ester (SE). From the results, after conducted 100mm axial cutting length MJO+hBN+MoS2 recorded the lowest in cutting temperature and surface roughness compared to all samples. The result shows that MJO+hBN+MoS2 has longer tool life (6500mm) compared to SE (6000mm). Abrasion and adhesion were observed as the dominant tool wear mechanism. In conclusion, MJO+hBN+MoS2 shows better machining performance and has the potential to be an environmentally friendly metalworking fluid
