Lifting endo--permutation modules
We prove that all endo--permutation modules for a finite group are
liftable from characteristic to characteristic
On the lifting of the Dade group
For the group of endo-permutation modules of a finite -group, there is a
surjective reduction modulo homomorphism from a complete discrete
valuation ring of characteristic 0 to its residue field of characteristic
. We prove that this reduction map always has a section which is a group
homomorphism.Comment: V2: capped endo-permutation modules were replaced by strongly capped

Using COTS Search Engines and Custom Query Strategies at CLEF
This paper presents a system for bilingual information retrieval using commercial off-the-shelf search engines (COTS). Several custom query construction, expansion and translation strategies are compared. We present the experiments and the corresponding results for the CLEF 2004 event
Diffraction phases in atom interferometers
Diffraction of atoms by laser is a very important tool for matter wave
optics. Although this process is well understood, the phase shifts induced by
this diffraction process are not well known. In this paper, we make analytic
calculations of these phase shifts in some simple cases and we use these
results to model the contrast interferometer recently built by the group of D.
Pritchard at MIT. We thus show that the values of the diffraction phases are
large and that they probably contribute to the phase noise observed in this
experiment.Comment: v3 11/03/0
Initiation and propagation mechanisms of progressive crushing in carbon-epoxy laminated plates
This article presents original experiments that enhance the understanding of the mechanisms that drive the progressive crushing of fiber-reinforced laminated composite materials and their energy absorption capability. An innovative experimental fixture has been created in order to obtain detailed monitoring of quasi-static and dynamic crushing of laminated plates. The fixture enables the development of a regular crushing front through the whole width of the plate, without parasite rupture modes, and the real-time
observation of this front with a high speed camera. Results of experimental works on fabric and unidirectional Carbon-Epoxy laminated composite plates are exposed. The obtained crushing modes are analysed, their stability and energy-absorbing capability are discussed
The networks of contacts of women's groups in the Outaouais are chiefly found to be within the region while very few networks exist on the Ontario side of the Ottawa River. Two principal dimensions of the networks emerge : contacts between women's groups and contacts relating to the particular public policy area. These results are related to the debate over the integration of the Outaouais into the federal capital region

Vendor Managed inventory, from concept to processes, for an unified view
International audienceIn a supplier-customer relationship, Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) is currently used to monitor the customer's inventory replenishment. However the integration of VMI implies consequences on the collaboration process that links the different planning processes of each partner. This paper proposes a unified view of the VMI: beyond the short term pull system inventory replenishment, partners have to share their vision of the demand, their requirements and their constraints to fix middle/long term common objectives for each article concerned by VMI. There are many ways to specify these links between VMI and partner's planning processes
Phylogenetic analysis of the human thyroglobulin regions.
International audienceABSTRACT: Thyroglobulin is a large protein present in all vertebrates. It is synthesized in the thyrocytes and exported to lumen of the thyroid follicle, where its tyrosine residues are iodinated . The iodinated thyroglobulin is reintegrated into the cell and processed (cleaved to free its two extremities) for thyroid hormone synthesis. Thyroglobulin sequence analysis has identified four regions of the molecule: Tg1, Tg2, Tg3 and ChEL. Structural abnormalities and mutations result in different pathological consequences, depending on the thyroglobulin region affected. We carried out a bioinformatic analysis of thyroglobulin, determining the origin and the function of each region. Our results suggest that the Tg1 region acts as a binding protein on the apical membrane, the Tg2 region is involved in protein adhesion and the Tg3 region is involved in determining the three-dimensional structure of the protein. The ChEL domain is involved in thyroglobulin transport, dimerization and adhesion. The presence of repetitive domains in the Tg1, Tg2 and Tg3 regions suggests that these domains may have arisen through duplication
