However, it is necessary that the nursing staff develop different skills to the Kangaroo Method be effectively implemented in practice
Incidência de lesões em praticantes de crossfit e musculação
The aim of this study was to identify the incidence, type of injuries and which are the most affected sites of pain in crossfit and bodybuilders. The sample consisted of 59 individuals, 41 from crossfit and 18 from bodybuilding. Two questionnaires instruments were used, one semi-structured with 25 questions that addresses the type of training, pathologies and injuries, and the sport readiness questionnaire focusing on musculoskeletal injuries (MIR-Q) containing 6 questions focused on evaluating the possibility of such injuries or predisposing factors may occur. As a result it was found that most crossfit practitioners do not have any type of injury and the index found in bodybuilding was higher. However, regarding the type of injury, the most affected in the modalities analyzed during the study were: 9. 8% or crossfit and bodybuilding tendonitis, 5.6% or muscle torsion and stretching. The places with the highest incidence of crossfit pain were 9.8% in the knee, 7.3% in the wrist, followed by 4.9% in the ankle and 2.4% in the lower back, while in bodybuilding mode this index reached 5.6% in both the knee, lower back and ankle. Regarding the incidence, we conclude with the tests in the case study that most practitioners do not have injury in any of the modalities, but in the minority who obtained injury, the most prevalent, were mentioned above.O objetivo desse estudo foi identificar a incidência e tipos de lesões, quais os locais são mais comuns as dores nos praticantes de crossfit e musculação.
Production Processes for Monoclonal Antibodies
Antibodies are glycoprotein structures with immune activity. They are able to identify or induce a neutralizing immune response when they identify foreign bodies such as bacteria, viruses, or tumor cells. Immunoglobulins are produced and secreted by B lymphocytes in response to the presence of antigens. The first monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) have emerged from a survey of hybridomas, and nowadays mAbs are produced mostly from cultivations of these cells. Additionally, there are studies and patents using a range of cells and microorganisms engineered for the production of mAbs at commercial scale. For some years, new methodologies have advanced with new production processes, allowing scale-up production and market introduction. Large-scale production has revolutionized the market for monoclonal antibodies by boosting its production and becoming a more practical method of production. Production techniques have only had a sizable breakthrough due to molecular techniques. Various systems of production are used, including animal cells, microorganisms, plants, and mammary glands. All of these require the technological development of production process such as a stirrer, a wave bioreactor, and roller bottles
Biogas - Turning Waste into Clean Energy
Expertise in biogas production using anaerobic digestion (AD) can offer many benefits in addition to being an alternative source of energy. This process involves plant digesters and provides an alternative destination for biomass that would eventually go unutilized and deposited in a trash heap. The application of the appropriate plant digester technology can generate energy, and the gas produced can be used for many purposes, such as water and space heating, lighting, and grain drying. In this context, agro residues are one of the most abundant energy sources available world wide. Nevertheless, the bioconversion of organic matter to biogas is a complex process of AD that involves many reactions among several microorganisms living in a stable community. Microorganisms from many diverse genera of obligate anaerobes and facultative anaerobes constitute these steps, and four groups are recognized to be the most frequent in biogas production plants. These groups, in order of substrate hydrolysis, are hydrolytic, acidogenic, and acetogenic bacteria, followed by the core group, the methanogenic archaea. All together, they compose the operation of a systematized activity with synergistic effects that ensure the stability of the process
Novel Virtual Environment for Alternative Treatment of Children with Cerebral Palsy
Cerebral palsy is a severe condition usually caused by decreased brain oxygenation during pregnancy, at birth or soon after birth. Conventional treatments for cerebral palsy are often tiresome and expensive, leading patients to quit treatment. In this paper, we describe a virtual environment for patients to engage in a playful therapeutic game for neuropsychomotor rehabilitation, based on the experience of the occupational therapy program of the Nucleus for Integrated Medical Assistance (NAMI) at the University
of Fortaleza, Brazil. Integration between patient and virtual environment occurs through the hand motion sensor “Leap Motion,” plus the electroencephalographic sensor “MindWave,” responsible for measuring attention levels during task execution. To evaluate the virtual environment, eight clinical experts on cerebral palsy were subjected to a questionnaire regarding the potential of the experimental virtual environment to promote cognitive and motor rehabilitation, as well as the potential of the treatment to enhance risks and/or negatively influence the patient’s development. Based on the very positive appraisal of the experts, we propose that the experimental virtual environment is a promising alternative tool for the rehabilitation of children with cerebral palsy.Cerebral palsy is a severe condition usually caused by decreased brain oxygenation during pregnancy, at birth or soon after birth. Eruption of the lupine tooth in horses thoroughbred and campolina
_________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTIn horses, the first premolar teeth of the upper arch, or wolf teeth are small and characteristically vestigial, appear positioned immediately mesial to the root of the first molar tooth, do not act functionally in chewing and can also cause pain in animals. There were evaluated 63 animals of Campolina breed and 58 of Thoroughbred in relation to the presence or absence of wolf teeth. The findings showed that 42.86% of the Campolina horses presented wolf teeth, as well as 3.45% of the Thoroughbred. The variable frequency found discloses that the presence of this tooth is a particular and individual feature of animals. It was observed by applying the Fisher’s test (p<0.05) that among equine breeds Thoroughbred and Campolina, there was significant difference (p<0.0001). Otherwise for each of the breeds the occurrence of presence of this tooth among the genders was not observed Thoroughbred (p_0.496) and Campolina (p_0.083)
Effect of thermal treatment variables on the thermogravimetric properties of eucalypt wood
Thermal treatments have the effect of reducing the hygroscopicity and improving the resistance to microbiological attack of wood by the degradation of its chemical constituents. During the treatments, the mass of the wood is reduced, a factor that can affect the quality of the materials according to their use. The objective was to verify the effect of the thermal treatment variables on the thermogravimetric properties and the chemical composition of Eucalyptus grandis. The treatments were carried out in a vacuum oven with three atmosphere conditions - vacuum; N2; vacuum+N2 at temperatures of 140, 180 and 220 °C for 6 hours. It was observed that the mass loss during treatments differed only according to the temperatures used. The extractive content, total lignin and holocellulose presented significant changes only at 220°C in all three atmospheres. In the thermogravimetric analysis, the greatest value of residual mass was found in the treatment that used nitrogen and 220 °C, thus demonstrating that this treatment was more invasive, leading to the conclusion that the vacuum application can help to reduce the degradation of the constituents of the eucalypti wood. wood, which can lead to the production of thermally treated wood without great losses in the mechanical properties
