    Efficiency and Sufficiency in electric energy: a study with higher education students

The behaviour of the energy consumer itself plays a fundamental role in this process. The consumer behaviour is also what can help us to go from efficiency to sufficiency in energy use. The fulfilment of our energy needs reducing environmental externalities led us through the path of energy efficiency improvement options and rational use of energy - Energy sufficiency. In this paper we discuss some of the results obtained from surveys conducted with the aim of studying the electricity consumption behaviours of higher education students’ households. Its main objective was to characterize their willingness to change behaviours of what we expect to be well-informed individuals. These surveys are part of the Learn2Behave project that intend to characterize consumer’s behaviours and suggest new alternatives that will increase efficiency and sufficiency behaviours in electricity use. The results of the surveys indicate that there is some knowledge about increasing efficiency in electric energy use. The results of these surveys will inform the app “Minha Energia”, as a way to improve respondents’ literacy on energy efficiency and energy sufficiency related subjects.N/

    RFID System Applicability Model for Traceability of Luggage at Airports

    One of the critical points in the framework of air transport, is the management of luggage at airports. Every year, a large number of people feel the need to travel for various reasons and that efficient management is a difficult task that needs to keep up with the growth demand in a satisfactorily. One of the problems that has not been solved is exactly the loss, misplacement or mishandling of baggage at airports, given the difficulty of the current management systems to monitor the baggage, which causes unwanted situations to life. Radiofrequency Identification Technology (RFID), integrated with an information system, presents itself as a solution to numerous daily setbacks in various segments, because its main feature is basically to capture information at a distance about some element in movement. By implementing a smart tag (tag) in each baggage, it becomes possible to trace it along the path. In order to solve this problem, the present work aims to develop a prototype software, integrated with RFID, to simulate the control of luggage at airports by means of three scenarios where luggage misplacement may occur

    In this work, an approach to implement a simplified fuzzy inference model for monitoring the conditions of workings of power generators through the pressure values ​​of combustion temperature and engine water pressure is displayed. The model helps the supervisory system, through real-time evaluation of the operating conditions of the engine in percentage rates. The application of tools based on computational intelligence, have shown efficiency in various areas of industrial engineering

    Correlation of the HPV genotype with the degree of dysplasia in patients with cervicouter cancer in the General Hospital Naval of high specialty

    Background: Cervical-uterine cancer (CaCu) is the second leading cause of death in women worldwide and the first in developing countries. It has been correlated to human papillomavirus (HPV) genotype with cancerous lesions reported in histopathological studies, which tells us about the prognosis of the patients. Objective of present study was to correlate the genotype of HPV to the histopathological result evaluated in these patients at the Naval Hospital of High Specialty.Methods: A total of 316 women attended at the Naval General High Marine Hospital from 2015 to 2016 with HPV diagnosis were included, the histopathological report was correlated with the HPV genotype determined by the chain reaction of the polymerase (PCR). Statistical tests were applied for Smirnov and Kolmogorov, Chi square, OR, Anova-Kruskal Wallis. Data were processed using the SPSS software version 19 and a P <0.05 was taken as statistical significance.Results: The mean age was 36.0±10.2. The detection of cervical cancer was reported in 3.8% and stage CIN III 2.5%; the highest proportion of patients were in the CIN I stage (51.3%), while the CIN II was 9.2%, and up to 30.7% were classified as HPV infection; only 2.5% were normal. The types of HPV prevalent by PCR were those at high risk different from 16 and 18 with a rate of 34.8%, then 16 at 5.1% and 18 at 0.3%. More than half of the cases (54.4%) were negative for the serotypes analyzed. In general terms, CaCu and CIN III were observed in 15% of the type 16, 0% in type 18, 25% in other high risk and 60% in negative PCR.Conclusions: In this study, we obtained essential data that tells us that this population could be treated with low-risk HPV types associated with CaCu

    MĂŒller cyst: report of a case in pregnancy

    MĂŒller cysts are alterations in the development of sexual cords and remain as malformations associated with them. They can occur in many morphological varieties. In the case of pregnancy, vaginal tumors can complicate labor because they cause obstruc-tion of the canal. During labor, these alterations can complicate the diagnosis and proper management of pregnancy. A 22-year-old female, who came to the hospital at 30.1 weeks of gestation for the first time, due to obstetric pain, vaginal tumor was detected, the patient triggered preterm labor, which did not address medical management based on oral and intravenous uteroinhibitors, so a cesarean is decided, later in the puerperium magnetic resonance was performed finding a defect in the vaginal wall, compatible with probable MĂŒller's cyst. Due to its low frequency but high impact on pregnancy, vaginal tumors are a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge, due to their embryological origin should be detected and advise on the consequences of them. As a result, some other alterations may coexist, which is why complementary studies are essential. In the pregnancy protocol, the proper location of the cysts guides us to a specific embryological origin, as well as a preventive intervention can be planned in cases like this. If these patients are asymptomatic, surgical intervention is not required, much less during pregnancy unless an obstetric indication for interruption is determined

    Fuzzy Method for in Control Acetaldehyde Generation in Resin Pet in the Process of Packaging Pre-Forms of Plastic Injection

    In order to control the drying temperature of the PET resin in the silo of the plastic injection molding machine, during the plastic injection process in the industries producing preforms for the manufacture of beverage bottles, care is taken in the ideal temperature regulation for the better performance in controlling the generation of Acetaldehyde (AA), which alters the taste of carbonated or non-carbonated drinks, providing a citrus nuance to the palate and questioning the quality of the packaged products The objective of this work is to develop a tool based on Fuzzy logic to support the control of the drying temperature of PET resin, allowing specialists to make the ideal temperature control decisions necessary to control the generation of Acetaldehyde (AA). For the development of the proposed Fuzzy inference model, we used the Matlab Fuzzy toolbox tool, where the input variables, the fuzzyfication rules and the output variable were implemented based on the data collected from the preform injection process. From the inference model, we obtained a more precise management of the variables that influence the generation of AA, estimating a reduction of $ 240,044.00 in annual costs in the production of preforms

    An Electrochemically Synthesized Nanoporous Copper Microsensor for Highly Sensitive and Selective Determination of Glyphosate

    A nanoporous copper (NPC) film was electrodeposited on a copper microelectrode, and the generated platform was investigated for electrochemical sensing of glyphosate (Glyp). The as-deposited NPC film was highly pure and crystalline according to results of energy dispersive spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction experiments, respectively. Scanning electron microscopy images confirm the NPC films possess a highly porous morphology containing dendrite fractals, and the electrodeposition parameters, particularly potential (Ed) and time (td), exert a remarkable influence on the structure of the films. Such changes in the NPC morphology with Ed and td were also correlated with the electrochemical behavior investigated by cyclic voltammetry. In the presence of Glyp, the anodic oxidation is facilitated because copper ions diffuse easily through the pores of the NPC film and form a complex with the analyte at the electrode interface. On the other hand, as the amount of copper oxides decreases due to the formation of soluble Cu(II) complex with Glyp, less current is obtained during the reverse scan, allowing a relationship between the decrease in the cathodic current and the Glyp concentration to be established. The optimized NPC-modified Cu microelectrode showed very high sensitivity (14 nA nmol−1 L), low detection limit (4 nmol L−1), excellent reproducibility, and selective response for Glyp.     Approach of Passive Filters using NSGA II in industrial installations: Part I

    The optimization of passive filters in industrial systems has been presented by different computational methods. The objective of this paper is to develop a computational algorithm with NSGA II to select the configuration and design parameters of a set of passive filters for industrial installations. As a methodology, the optimization problem was addressed using three independent objective functions of innovative character for compensation of harmonics through passive filters as a multiobjective problem. The results were the computational solution to this problem that determines a set of Pareto optimal solutions (Frontier). In addition, the computational tool has several new features such as: calculates the parameters that characterize the filters, but also selects the type of configuration and the number of branches of the filter in each candidate bar according to a set of pre-established configurations according to PRODIST-M8 (Brazilian Standard) and IEEE 519-2014. Also determine solutions with good power quality indicators (THD, TDD and NPV) for several characteristic and non-characteristic scenarios of the system that allow to represent: daily variations of the load, and variations of system parameters and filters. It evaluates the cost of energy bills in an industrial power grid that has different operating conditions (characteristic scenarios) and evaluates the economic effect of harmonic filters as reactive power compensators

    Interferential electrical stimulation improves peripheral vasodilatation in healthy individuals

    BACKGROUND:Interferential electrical stimulation (IES), which may be linked to greater penetration of deep tissue, may restore blood flow by sympathetic nervous modulation; however, studies have found no association between the frequency and duration of the application and blood flow. We hypothesized that 30 min of IES applied to the ganglion stellate region might improve blood flow redistribution.OBJECTIVES:The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of IES on metaboreflex activation in healthy individuals.METHOD:Interferential electrical stimulation or a placebo stimulus (same protocol without electrical output) was applied to the stellate ganglion region in eleven healthy subjects (age 25±1.3 years) prior to exercise. Mean blood pressure (MBP), heart rate (HR), calf blood flow (CBF) and calf vascular resistance (CVR) were measured throughout exercise protocols (submaximal static handgrip exercise) and with recovery periods with or without postexercise circulatory occlusion (PECO+ and PECO -, respectively). Muscle metaboreflex control of calf vascular resistance was estimated by subtracting the area under the curve when circulation was occluded from the area under the curve from the AUC without circulatory occlusion.RESULTS:At peak exercise, increases in mean blood pressure were attenuated by IES (p<0.05), and the effect persisted under both the PECO+ and PECO- treatments. IES promoted higher CBF and lower CVR during exercise and recovery.
