Dark Matter, Muon g-2 and Other SUSY Constraints
Recent developments constraining the SUSY parameter space are reviewed within
the framework of SUGRA GUT models. The WMAP data is seen to reduce the error in
the density of cold dark matter by about a factor of four, implying that the
lightest stau is only 5 -10 GeV heavier than the lightest neutralino when m_0,
m_{1/2} < 1 TeV. The CMD-2 re-analysis of their data has reduced the
disagreement between the Standard Model prediction and the Brookhaven
measurement of the muon magnetic moment to 1.9 sigma, while using the tau decay
data plus CVC, the disagreement is 0.7 sigma. (However, the two sets of data
remain inconsistent at the 2.9 sigma level.) The recent Belle and BABAR
measurements of the B -> phi K CP violating parameters and branching ratios are
discussed. They are analyzed theoretically within the BBNS improved
factorization method. The CP parameters are in disagreement with the Standard
Model at the 2.7 sigma level, and the branching ratios are low by a factor of
two or more over most of the parameter space. It is shown that both anomalies
can naturally be accounted for by adding a non-universal cubic soft breaking

Flavored Gauge-Mediation
The messengers of Gauge-Mediation Models can couple to standard-model matter
fields through renormalizable superpotential couplings. These matter-messenger
couplings generate generation-dependent sfermion masses and are therefore
usually forbidden by discrete symmetries. However, the non-trivial structure of
the standard-model Yukawa couplings hints at some underlying flavor theory,
which would necessarily control the sizes of the matter-messenger couplings as
well. Thus for example, if the doublet messenger and the Higgs have the same
properties under the flavor theory, the resulting messenger-lepton couplings
are parametrically of the same order as the lepton Yukawas, so that slepton
mass-splittings are similar to those of minimally-flavor-violating models and
therefore satisfy bounds on flavor-violation, with, however, slepton mixings
that are potentially large. Assuming that fermion masses are explained by a
flavor symmetry, we construct viable and natural models with messenger-lepton
couplings controlled by the flavor symmetry. The resulting slepton spectra are
unusual and interesting, with slepton mass-splittings and mixings that may be
probed at the LHC. In particular, since the new contributions are typically
negative, and since they are often larger for the first- and second-generation
sleptons, some of these examples have the selectron or the smuon as the
lightest slepton, with mass splittings of a few to tens of GeV.Comment: 16 pages v2: Explicit expressions (which are not needed in the

Gravitino dark matter in the constrained next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model with neutralino next-to-lightest superpartner
The viability of a possible cosmological scenario is investigated. The
theoretical framework is the constrained next-to-minimal supersymmetric
standard model (cNMSSM), with a gravitino playing the role of the lightest
supersymmetric particle (LSP) and a neutralino acting as the next-to-lightest
supersymmetric particle (NLSP). All the necessary constraints from colliders
and cosmology have been taken into account. For gravitino we have considered
the two usual production mechanisms, namely out-of equillibrium decay from the
NLSP, and scattering processes from the thermal bath. The maximum allowed
reheating temperature after inflation, as well as the maximum allowed gravitino

Tinnitus: Distinguishing between Subjectively Perceived Loudness and Tinnitus-Related Distress
OBJECTIVES: Overall success of current tinnitus therapies is low, which may be due to the heterogeneity of tinnitus patients. Therefore, subclassification of tinnitus patients is expected to improve therapeutic allocation, which, in turn, is hoped to improve therapeutic success for the individual patient. The present study aims to define factors that differentially influence subjectively perceived tinnitus loudness and tinnitus-related distress. METHODS: In a questionnaire-based cross-sectional survey, the data of 4705 individuals with tinnitus were analyzed. The self-report questionnaire contained items about subjective tinnitus loudness, type of onset, awareness and localization of the tinnitus, hearing impairment, chronic comorbidities, sleep quality, and psychometrically validated questionnaires addressing tinnitus-related distress, depressivity, anxiety, and somatic symptom severity. In a binary step-wise logistic regression model, we tested the predictive power of these variables on subjective tinnitus loudness and tinnitus-related distress. RESULTS: The present data contribute to the distinction between subjective tinnitus loudness and tinnitus-related distress. Whereas subjective loudness was associated with permanent awareness and binaural localization of the tinnitus, tinnitus-related distress was associated with depressivity, anxiety, and somatic symptom severity. CONCLUSIONS: Subjective tinnitus loudness and the potential presence of severe depressivity, anxiety, and somatic symptom severity should be assessed separately from tinnitus-related distress. If loud tinnitus is the major complaint together with mild or moderate tinnitus-related distress, therapies should focus on auditory perception. If levels of depressivity, anxiety or somatic symptom severity are severe, therapies and further diagnosis should focus on these symptoms at first
Asymmetric Origin for Gravitino Relic Density in the Hybrid Gravity-Gauge Mediated Supersymmetry Breaking
We propose the hybrid gravity-gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking where the
gravitino mass is about several GeV. The strong constraints on supersymmetry
viable parameter space from the CMS and ATLAS experiments at the LHC can be
relaxed due to the heavy colored supersymmetric particles, and it is consistent
with null results in the dark matter (DM) direct search experiments such as
XENON100. In particular, the possible maximal flavor and CP violations from the
relatively small gravity mediation may naturally account for the recent LHCb
anomaly. In addition, because the gravitino mass is around the asymmetric DM
mass, we propose the asymmetric origin of the gravitino relic density and solve
the cosmological coincident problem on the DM and baryon densities \Omega_{\rm
DM}:\Omega_{B}\approx 5:1. The gravitino relic density arises from asymmetric
metastable particle (AMP) late decay. However, we show that there is no AMP
candidate in the minimal supersymmetric Standard Model (SM) due to the robust
gaugino/Higgsino mediated wash-out effects. Interestingly, AMP can be realized
in the well motivated supersymmetric SMs with vector-like particles or
continuous U(1)_R symmetry. Especially, the lightest CP-even Higgs boson mass

Oncogenic K-Ras decouples glucose and glutamine metabolism to support cancer cell growth
A systems approach using 13C metabolic flux analysis (MFA), non-targeted tracer fate detection (NTFD), and transcriptional profiling was applied to investigate the role of oncogenic K-Ras in metabolic transformation.K-Ras transformed cells exhibit an increased glycolytic rate and lower flux through the oxidative tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle.K-Ras transformed cells show a relative increase in glutamine anaplerosis and reductive TCA metabolism.Transcriptional changes driven by oncogenic K-Ras suggest control nodes associated with the metabolic reprogramming of cancer cells
Kinematic Edges with Flavor Oscillation and Non-Zero Widths
Kinematic edges in cascade decays provide a probe of the masses of new
particles. In some new physics scenarios the decay chain involves intermediate
particles of different flavors that can mix and oscillate. We discuss the
implication of such oscillation, and in particular its interplay with the
non-zero widths of the particles. We derive explicit formulae for differential
decay rates involving both non-zero widths and oscillation, and show that in
the case where the mass difference between the intermediate particle is of the
order of their widths, both oscillation and width effects are important. An
examination of the physical observables contained in these differential decay
rates is provided. We calculate differential decay rates for cases in which the
intermediate particles are either scalars or fermions.Comment: 28 pages, 6 figure
Transmutations and spectral parameter power series in eigenvalue problems
We give an overview of recent developments in Sturm-Liouville theory
concerning operators of transmutation (transformation) and spectral parameter
power series (SPPS). The possibility to write down the dispersion
(characteristic) equations corresponding to a variety of spectral problems
related to Sturm-Liouville equations in an analytic form is an attractive
feature of the SPPS method. It is based on a computation of certain systems of
recursive integrals. Considered as families of functions these systems are
complete in the -space and result to be the images of the nonnegative
integer powers of the independent variable under the action of a corresponding
transmutation operator. This recently revealed property of the Delsarte
transmutations opens the way to apply the transmutation operator even when its
integral kernel is unknown and gives the possibility to obtain further
interesting properties concerning the Darboux transformed Schr\"{o}dinger
operators.
We introduce the systems of recursive integrals and the SPPS approach,
explain some of its applications to spectral problems with numerical
illustrations, give the definition and basic properties of transmutation
operators, introduce a parametrized family of transmutation operators, study
their mapping properties and construct the transmutation operators for Darboux

Healthy Living after Cancer: A dissemination and implementation study evaluating a telephone-delivered healthy lifestyle program for cancer survivors
© 2015 Eakin et al. Background: Given evidence shows physical activity, a healthful diet and weight management can improve cancer outcomes and reduce chronic disease risk, the major cancer organisations and health authorities have endorsed related guidelines for cancer survivors. Despite these, and a growing evidence base on effective lifestyle interventions, there is limited uptake into survivorship care. Methods/Design: Healthy Living after Cancer (HLaC) is a national dissemination and implementation study that will evaluate the integration of an evidence-based lifestyle intervention for cancer survivors into an existing telephone cancer information and support service delivered by Australian state-based Cancer Councils. Eligible participants (adults having completed cancer treatment with curative intent) will receive 12 health coaching calls over 6 months from Cancer Council nurses/allied health professionals targeting national guidelines for physical activity, healthy eating and weight control. Using the RE-AIM evaluation framework, primary outcomes are service-level indicators of program reach, adoption, implementation/costs and maintenance, with secondary (effectiveness) outcomes of patient-reported anthropometric, behavioural and psychosocial variables collected at pre- and post-program completion. The total participant accrual target across four participating Cancer Councils is 900 over 3 years. Discussion: The national scope of the project and broad inclusion of cancer survivors, alongside evaluation of service-level indicators, associated costs and patient-reported outcomes, will provide the necessary practice-based evidence needed to inform future allocation of resources to support healthy living among cancer survivors.
