Noncommutative Superspace, N=1/2 Supersymmetry, Field Theory and String Theory
We deform the standard four dimensional superspace by making the odd
coordinates not anticommuting, but satisfying a Clifford algebra.
Consistency determines the other commutation relations of the coordinates. In
particular, the ordinary spacetime coordinates cannot commute. We study
chiral superfields and vector superfields and their interactions. As in
ordinary noncommutative field theory, a change of variables allows us to
express the gauge interactions in terms of component fields which are subject
to standard gauge transformation laws. Unlike ordinary noncommutative field
theories, the change of the Lagrangian is a polynomial in the deformation
parameter. Despite the deformation, the noncommutative theories still have an
antichiral ring with all its usual properties. We show how these theories with
precisely this deformation arise in string theory in a graviphoton background.Comment: 19 page
Damping of Tensor Modes in Cosmology
An analytic formula is given for the traceless transverse part of the
anisotropic stress tensor due to free streaming neutrinos, and used to derive
an integro-differential equation for the propagation of cosmological
gravitational waves. The solution shows that anisotropic stress reduces the
squared amplitude by 35.6 % for wavelengths that enter the horizon during the
radiation-dominated phase, independent of any cosmological parameters. This
decreases the tensor temperature and polarization correlation functions for
these wavelengths by the same amount. The effect is less for wavelengths that
enter the horizon at later times. At the longest wavelengths the decrease in
the tensor correlation functions due to neutrino free streaming ranges from
10.7% for to 9.0% for . An Appendix gives a
general proof that tensor as well as scalar modes satisfy a conservation law
for perturbations outside the horizon, even when the anisotropic stress tensor

Bulk experimental evidence of half-metallic ferromagnetism in doped manganites
We report precise measurements and quantitative data analysis on the
low-temperature resistivity of several ferromagnetic manganite films. We
clearly show that there exists a T^{4.5} term in low-temperature resistivity,
and that this term is in quantitative agreement with the quantum theory of
two-magnon scattering for half metallic ferromagnets. Our present results
provide the first bulk experimental evidence of half-metallic ferromagnetism in

Cosmological Constraints on the Sign-Changeable Interactions
Recently, Cai and Su [Phys. Rev. D {\bf 81}, 103514 (2010)] found that the
sign of interaction in the dark sector changed in the approximate redshift
range of 0.45\,\lsim\, z\,\lsim\, 0.9, by using a model-independent method to
deal with the observational data. In fact, this result raises a remarkable
problem, since most of the familiar interactions cannot change their signs in
the whole cosmic history. Motivated by the work of Cai and Su, we have proposed
a new type of interaction in a previous work [H. Wei, Nucl. Phys. B {\bf 845},
381 (2011)]. The key ingredient is the deceleration parameter in the
interaction , and hence the interaction can change its sign when our
universe changes from deceleration () to acceleration (). In the
present work, we consider the cosmological constraints on this new type of
sign-changeable interactions, by using the latest observational data. We find
that the cosmological constraints on the model parameters are fairly tight. In

Triggering Threshold Spacecraft Charging with Changes in Electron Emission from Materials
Modest changes in spacecraft charging conditions can lead to abrupt changes in the spacecraft equilibrium, from small positive potentials to large negative potentials relative to the space plasma; this phenomenon is referred to as threshold charging. It is well known that temporal changes of the space plasma environment (electron plasma temperature or density) can cause threshold charging. Threshold charging can also result from by temporal changes in the juxtaposition of the spacecraft to the environment, including spacecraft orbit, orientation, and geometry. This study focuses on the effects of possible changes in electron emission properties of representative spacecraft materials. It is found that for electron-induced emission, the possible threshold scenarios are very rich, since this type of electron emission can cause either positive or negative charging. Alternately, modification of photon- or ion-induced electron emission is found to induce threshold charging only in certain favorable cases. Changes of emission properties discussed include modifications due to: contamination, degradation and roughening of surfaces and layered materials; biasing and charge accumulation; bandstructure occupation and density of states caused by heat, optical or particle radiation; optical reflectivity and absorptivity; and inaccuracies and errors in measurements and parameterization of materials properties. An established method is used here to quantitatively gauge the relative extent to which these various changes in electron emission alter a spacecraft’s charging behavior and possibly lead to threshold charging. The absolute charging behavior of a hypothetical flat, two-dimensional satellite panel of a single material (either polycrystalline conductor Au or the polymeric polyimide Kapton™ H) is modeled as it undergoes modification and concomitant changes in spacecraft charging in three representative geosynchronous orbit environments, from full sunlight to full shade (eclipse) are considered
Generating vortex rings in Bose-Einstein condensates in the line-source approximation
We present a numerical method for generating vortex rings in Bose-Einstein
condensates confined in axially symmetric traps. The vortex ring is generated
using the line-source approximation for the vorticity, i.e., the rotational of
the superfluid velocity field is different from zero only on a circumference of
given radius located on a plane perpendicular to the symmetry axis and coaxial
with it. The particle density is obtained by solving a modified
Gross-Pitaevskii equation that incorporates the effect of the velocity field.
We discuss the appearance of density profiles, the vortex core structure and
the vortex nucleation energy, i.e., the energy difference between vortical and
ground-state configurations. This is used to present a qualitative description

New D=4 gauged supergravities from N=4 orientifolds with fluxes
We consider classes of T_6 orientifolds, where the orientifold projection
contains an inversion I_{9-p} on 9-p coordinates, transverse to a Dp-brane. In
absence of fluxes, the massless sector of these models corresponds to diverse
forms of N=4 supergravity, with six bulk vector multiplets coupled to N=4
Yang--Mills theory on the branes. They all differ in the choice of the duality
symmetry corresponding to different embeddings of SU(1,1)\times SO(6,6+n) in
Sp(24+2n,R), the latter being the full group of duality rotations. Hence, these
Lagrangians are not related by local field redefinitions. When fluxes are
turned on one can construct new gaugings of N=4 supergravity, where the twelve
bulk vectors gauge some nilpotent algebra which, in turn, depends on the choice
