Interaction of Hopf and period doubling bifurcations of a vibro-impact system

    Get PDF
International audienceAn inertial shaker as a vibratory system with impact is considered. By means of differential equations, periodicity and matching conditions, the theoretical solution of periodic n-1 impacting motion can be obtained and the Poincaré map is established. Dynamics of the system are studied with special attention to interaction of Hopf and period doubling bifurcations corresponding to a codimension-2 one when a pair of complex conjugate eigenvalues crosses the unit circle and the other eigenvalue crosses -1 simultaneously for the Jacobi matrix. The four-dimensional map can be reduced to a three-dimensional normal form by the center manifold theorem and the theory of normal forms. The two-parameter unfoldings of local dynamical behavior are put forward and the singularity is investigated. It is proved that there exist curve doubling bifurcation (a torus doubling bifurcation), Hopf bifurcation of 2–2 fixed points as well as period doubling bifurcation and Hopf bifurcation of 1–1 fixed points near the critical point. Numerical results indicate that the vibro-impact system presents complicated and interesting curve doubling bifurcation and Hopf bifurcation as the two controlling parameters vary

Research on Incentive Mechanism of Millennials in Chinese Bank

The first driving force for bank development and the first influencing factor for bank rise and fall is how to attract and retain talent. How to attract and hold talent is the key issue for the development of banks. With the great changes of the times, banks have gradually revealed some problems with staff motivation, such as recruitment difficulties, high turnover rate, low motivation, etc. At this stage, the incentive mechanism for young employees is defective and cannot play a good role in motivating employees. The millennial generation employees account for a high proportion of the bank and are the backbone of the bank's operation, and their massive loss or slack work is extremely detrimental to the normal operation and development of the bank. Therefore, how to motivate young employees and establish an efficient incentive mechanism for young employees is the core issue of the current research on incentive mechanisms in the Chinese banking industry. In this dissertation, we further explore the problems of compensation and benefits, work effort, interpersonal relationships, promotion systems, training, workplace environment, etc. by interviewing the specific situation of the motivation mechanism of millennial employees in Chinese banks. The interview was used to further explore the problems of compensation and benefits, work effort, interpersonal relationships, promotion systems, training, workplace environment, etc. By comparing the needs of the millennial employees with the current incentive mechanism, it was found that Branch C has problems in the areas of lack of compensation, excessive work pressure, inadequate humanistic care, inadequate training system, and the bank also proposes strategies to help the bank understand the needs of millennial employees, find out the shortcomings of its incentive measures, and establish a scientific incentive mechanism to enhance the young employees' recognition and sense of belonging to the bank and help them find their career development direction

Southern Ocean Control of 2°C Global Warming in Climate Models

    Get PDF
Global warming will soon reach the Paris Agreement targets of 1.5°C/2°C temperature increase above pre-industrial levels. Under a business-as-usual scenario, the time to reach these targets varies widely among climate models. Using Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 5 and 6, we show that a 2°C global warming is determined by Southern Ocean (SO) state closely tied with a low-level cloud (LLC) amount feedback strength during reference (1861–1900) period; climate models with cold SO tend to accompany more low-level cloudiness and Antarctic sea ice concentration due to a strong LLC amount feedback. Consequently, initially cold SO models tend to simulate a fast global warming by absorbing more downward shortwave radiation compared to initially warm SO models because more LLC disappears due to a strong LLC amount feedback during the 2°C rise. Our results demonstrate that climate models that correctly simulate initial SO state can improve 2°C warming projections with reduced uncertainties.publishedVersio

The intrinsic features of the specific heat at half-filled Landau levels of two-dimensional electron systems

The specific heat capacity of a two-dimensional electron gas is derived for two types of the density of states, namely, the Dirac delta function spectrum and that based on a Gaussian function. For the first time, a closed form expression of the specific heat for each case is obtained at half-filling. When the chemical potential is temperature-independent, the temperature is calculated at which the specific heat is a maximum. Here the effects of the broadening of the Landau levels are distinguished from those of the different filling factors. In general, the results derived herein hold for any thermodynamic system having similar resonant states.Comment: 11 pages, 1 figure, to appear in J Low Temp Phys (2010

Exclusion Statistics of Quasiparticles in Condensed States of Composite Fermion Excitations

The exclusion statistics of quasiparticles is found at any level of the hierarchy of condensed states of composite fermion excitations (for which experimental indications have recently been found). The hierarchy of condensed states of excitations in boson Jain states is introduced and the statistics of quasiparticles is found. The quantum Hall states of charged α\alpha-anyons (α\alpha -- the exclusion statistics parameter) can be described as incompressible states of (α+2p)(\alpha+2p)-anyons (2p2p -- an even number).Comment: 4 page

Shot-noise spectroscopy of energy-resolved ballistic currents

    Get PDF
We investigate the shot noise of nonequilibrium carriers injected into a ballistic conductor and interacting via long-range Coulomb forces. Coulomb interactions are shown to act as an energy analyzer of the profile of injected electrons by means of the fluctuations of the potential barrier at the emitter contact. We show that the details in the energy profile can be extracted from shot-noise measurements in the Coulomb interaction regime, but cannot be obtained from time-averaged quantities or shot-noise measurements in the absence of interactions.Comment: 7 pages, 4 figure

Renormalization approach for quantum-dot structures under strong alternating fields

We develop a renormalization method for calculating the electronic structure of single and double quantum dots under intense ac fields. The nanostructures are emulated by lattice models with a clear continuum limit of the effective-mass and single-particle approximations. The coupling to the ac field is treated non-perturbatively by means of the Floquet Hamiltonian. The renormalization approach allows the study of dressed states of the nanoscopic system with realistic geometries as well arbitrary strong ac fields. We give examples of a single quantum dot, emphasizing the analysis of the effective-mass limit for lattice models, and double-dot structures, where we discuss the limit of the well used two-level approximation.Comment: 6 pages, 7 figure

Structure and dynamics of Rh surfaces

Lattice relaxations, surface phonon spectra, surface energies, and work functions are calculated for Rh(100) and Rh(110) surfaces using density-functional theory and the full-potential linearized augmented plane wave method. Both, the local-density approximation and the generalized gradient approximation to the exchange-correlation functional are considered. The force constants are obtained from the directly calculated atomic forces, and the temperature dependence of the surface relaxation is evaluated by minimizing the free energy of the system. The anharmonicity of the atomic vibrations is taken into account within the quasiharmonic approximation. The importance of contributions from different phonons to the surface relaxation is analyzed.Comment: 9 pages, 7 figures, scheduled to appear in Phys. Rev. B, Feb. 15 (1998).
