Acute Effect of Resistance Training on Cognitive Function of Costa Rican Older Adults
Different types of exercise interventions have shown to improve cognitive performance; however, there is scarce evidence on the acute effect of resistance training (RT) on cognitions in older adults. The purpose of this study is to determine the acute effect of RT on cognitive performance in healthy older adults. 45 adults (Mean age = 65.3 ± 3.7 yr.) were randomly allocated to one of three groups: high-intensity RT (G1), low-intensity RT (G2), or inactive control (G3). Participants completed cognitive tests assessing processing speed, visuospatial processing, executive function, and cognitive control, working memory and immediate memory. The RT protocol for G1 and G2 consisted of six exercises. A 3x2 ANCOVA was performed with education as a covariate. Significant improvements were found on visuospatial processing in G1 (Pre = 61.6 ± 2.1 vs. Post = 69.7 ± 2.4; 95%CI = 4.8, 11.4; p ≤ 0.001) and G2 (Pre = 62.4 ± 2.2 vs. Post = 67.0 ± 2.5; 95%CI = 1.2, 8.1; p = 0.009). Other tested cognitive abilities were unchanged by acute exercise or rest. Acute RT enhanced or maintained cognitive performance in older adults. It was possible to successfully perform 1RM tests with older adults. Additional evidence is needed to determine effective protocols to improve cognition in older adulthood
Diachronic analiysis of motor comunication in traditional games and sports of the canary island
Las prácticas motrices estudiadas dan idea de la complejidad de la construcción de la tradición lúdica canariaA diachronic analysis of motor communication in three groups of traditional Canary Island games (‘aboriginal games’, ‘traditional games’, and ‘traditional sports’) was carried out in order to detect and define their social models. Both motor communication and motor interaction were analyzed and categorized according to motor praxeology criteria. When confrontation was the main function of the game, the dual structure was dominant over other forms of motor communication. The motor interaction diversification in the ‘traditional games’ group was not comparable to the other two groups due to the various ethno-motor modes used for the same activity. The motor study allows us to form an idea of the complexity of the construct of traditional Canary game
Classical and quantum exact solutions for a FRW multi-scalar field cosmology with an exponential potential driven inflation
A flat Fiedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) multi-scalar field cosmology is
studied with a particular potential of the form , which emerges as a relation between the
time derivatives of the scalars field momenta. Classically, by employing the
Hamiltonian formalism of two scalar fields with standard
kinetic energy, exact solutions are found for the Einstein-Klein-Gordon (EKG)
system for different scenarios specified by the parameter
, as well as the e-folding function which is also computed. For the quantum scheme of this model, the
corresponding Wheeler-DeWitt (WDW) equation is solved by applying an
appropriate change of variables.Comment: Latex file, accepted in Advances and Mathematical physics, Hindawi.

Forage Yield and Quality of Signal Grass-Clitoria Mixture Grazed at Different Frequencies
A Signal grass-Clitoria mixture provides good quality forage in the dry tropic of southern Mexico. Grazing frequency is a management tool that determines yield, botanical components and quality of pastures. The objective of this study was to determine forage yield, quality and botanical components in a Signal grass (Brachiaria decumbens)-Clitoria (Clitoria ternatea) mixture when grazed at different frequencies

SemTab 2019: Resources to Benchmark Tabular Data to Knowledge Graph Matching Systems
Tabular data to Knowledge Graph matching is the process of assigning semantic tags from knowledge graphs (e.g., Wikidata or DBpedia) to the elements of a table. This task is a challenging problem for various reasons, including the lack of metadata (e.g., table and column names), the noisiness, heterogeneity, incompleteness and ambiguity in the data. The results of this task provide significant insights about potentially highly valuable tabular data, as recent works have shown, enabling a new family of data analytics and data science applications. Despite significant amount of work on various flavors of this problem, there is a lack of a common framework to conduct a systematic evaluation of state-of-the-art systems. The creation of the Semantic Web Challenge on Tabular Data to Knowledge Graph Matching (SemTab) aims at filling this gap. In this paper, we report about the datasets, infrastructure and lessons learned from the first edition of the SemTab challenge
Bancarizing with credit cards: Experimental evidence on interest rates and minimum payments elasticities for new clients
We study the bancarization of marginal borrowers using credit cards and document that this process is difficult: default risk is substantial, returns heterogeneous, and account closings common. We also take advantage of a randomized control trial that varied interest rates and minimum payments in a very wide range. Against our hypothesis, we find that default risk is very insensitive to (randomized) large changes in interest rates and minimum payments. This could imply that regulating these contract terms may not necessarily "protect" consumers against default and that moral hazard in this market is negligible on average
Yield Components in a Signal Grass-Clitoria Mixture Grazed at Different Herbage Allowance
A Signal grass-Clitoria mixture provides good quality forage in the dry tropic of southern Mexico. However, its response in leaf and stem yields to grazing at different daily herbage allowances is not well documented. The objective of this study was to determine available and residual leaf and stem yields in a Signal grass (Brachiaria decumbens)-Clitoria (Clitoria ternatea) mixture grazed at different daily herbage allowance
