A new genus and 15 new species of caddisfl ies are described from Batanta Island of West Papua, Indonesia: Horvathomina gen. n., Chimarra kalija sp. n., Horvathomina gergoi sp. n., H. akosi sp. n., H. martoni sp. n., Tinodes topor sp. n., T. vagot sp. n., Nyctiophylax (Paranyctiophylax) egyes sp. n., Polyplectropus ollos sp. n., P. pohos sp. n., Abacaria kovacsi sp. n., Goera batanta sp. n., Triplectides dombos sp. n., T. karimas sp. n., T. rojtos sp. n. and T. sugaras sp. n. New records of 40 species are given. Details of fi ne structure analysis of paraproct are discussed. Th e ancient plesiomorphic and derived apomorphic character states are surveyed in genera of the family Ecnomidae. Taxonomic value of wing venation, spur number and genitalic traits are evaluated for species elimitation in the genus Triplectides Kolenati, 1859. Harpagones and mesal lobe of the gonopods in Triplectides are non-neutral adaptive traits under directional sexual selection, and provide consistent and stable fine structure to delimit species boundaries. Current landscape and influence of big data on finance

    Get PDF
Big data is one of the most recent business and technical issues in the age of technology. Hundreds of millions of events occur every day. The financial field is deeply involved in the calculation of big data events. As a result, hundreds of millions of financial transactions occur in the financial world each day. Therefore, financial practitioners and analysts consider it an emerging issue of the data management and analytics of different financial products and services. Also, big data has significant impacts on financial products and services. Therefore, identifying the financial issues where big data has a significant influence is also an important issue to explore with the influences. Based on these concepts, the objective of this paper was to show the current landscape of finance dealing with big data, and also to show how big data influences different financial sectors, more specifically, its impact on financial markets, financial institutions, and the relationship with internet finance, financial management, internet credit service companies, fraud detection, risk analysis, financial application management, and so on. The connection between big data and financial-related components will be revealed in an exploratory literature review of secondary data sources. Since big data in the financial field is an extremely new concept, future research directions will be pointed out at the end of this study

Long-term photometric behaviour of XZ Dra Binarity or magnetic cycle of a Blazhko type RRab star

The extended photometry available for XZ Dra, a Blazhko type RR Lyrae star, makes it possible to study its long-term behavior. It is shown that its pulsation period exhibit cyclic, but not strictly regular variations with approx. 7200 d period. The Blazhko period (approx. 76 d) seems to follow the observed period changes of the fundamental mode pulsation with dP_B/dP_0=7.7 x 10^4 gradient. Binary model cannot explain this order of period change of the Blazhko modulation, nevertheless it can be brought into agreement with the O-C data of the pulsation. The possibility of occurrence of magnetic cycle is raised.Comment: 13 pages, 11 figures (submitted to A&A

Thidiazuron-induced regeneration and genetic transformation of grapevine rootstock varieties

    Get PDF
In vitro regeneration from cell to plant, a technique considered to be an important precondition of gene transfer, was attempted in 12 grapevine rootstocks starting with anthers of the plants as inocula. Embryogenic callus was induced in solid Murashige-Skoog medium supplemented with 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) and thidiazuron (TDZ). Five of the tested rootstock cultivars (Börner, Richter 110, SO 4, St. George and Teleki 5 C) yielded embryogenic callus lines that regenerated entire plants. From these cultures Richter 110 and St. George varieties produced transgenic plants following Agrobacterium-mediated transformation with an nptII/gusA gene construct using a simple, but effective cocultivation protocol. The putative transgenic lines expressed the gusA gene. The T-DNA transfer and integration was confirmed by PCR analysis.

Seven species are recorded and ten new species are described from Oriental, Afrotropical and Neotropical Fauna Regions: Abacaria dufforum sp. nov., Cyrnellus kesken sp. nov., C. kozepes sp. nov., Orthotrichia palama sp. nov., Marilia annae sp. nov., Phylloicus kinovos sp. nov., Atanatolica homora sp. nov., Oecetis fura sp. nov., O. siska sp. nov., Contulma duffi sp. nov. Based on theoretical outline of how to delineate young incipient sibling species with more phenomics and less genomics, the new species complex of Oecetis amazonica is erected as well as an instantiated failure of neutral DNA markers are presented on Allogamus auricollis and A. alpinus siblings

Factors influencing the quality of life of empty nesters: Empirical evidence from Southwest China

    Get PDF
Quality of life is a widely accepted concept based on the notion that people’s lives have been subject to rapid development and industrialization. This study aims to explore the impact of different factors on the quality of life of empty nesters in Southwest China. The main factors explored are resilience and social supports (SS), highlighted here from different perspectives. Moreover, the correlations between other variables and quality of life are shown here. This study experimented with a hierarchical multiple regression model from survey data with 3583 valid responses. It argued that both resilience and social supports, including family members and friends, are significantly correlated with the Chinese empty nesters’ quality of life. Family support and friend support play a significant mediating role in the association between resilience and quality of life. However, neither government nor nongovernmental support significantly influences the quality of life. Therefore, the hypothetical recommendations of this study have been partially confirmed. The findings of this study provide a more comprehensive understanding of the overall mental and physical health of Chinese empty nesters

Inter-organizational trust on financial performance: Proposing innovation as a mediating variable to sustain in a disruptive era

Hungarian Information and Communication Technology (ICT) companies have an essential role to play in a disruptive era. ICT firms should collaborate and innovate to obtain profit. The elusive correlation between trust in business partners and financial performance inspired this study, which proposed innovation as a mediating variable. The research had two objectives: to investigate the effect of inter-organizational trust on financial performance and innovation and to observe the role of innovation in improving financial performance within different categories of ICT companies. The population included active Hungarian ICT firms. The analysis used 100 samples, comprising micro-, small-, and medium-sized ICT corporations. Those samples were selected by random cluster sampling. This research used Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modelling. This study supported the idea that inter-organizational trust improved innovation, and that innovation enhanced financial performance. As an expected finding, innovation could mediate a positive direction between inter-organizational trust and financial performance
