    ICKSC :An Efficient Methodology for Predicting Kidney Stone From CT Kidney Image Dataset using Conventional Neural Networks

    Chronic Kidney Diseases (CKD) has become one among the world wide health crisis and needs the associated efforts to prevent the complete organ damage. A considerable research effort has been put forward onto the effective separation and classification of kidney Stones from the kidney CT Images. Emerging machine learning along with deep learning algorithms have waved the novel paths of kidney stone detections. But these methods are proved to be laborious and its success rate is purely depends on the previous experiences. To achieve the better classification of kidney stone, this paper proposes a novel Intelligent CNN based Kidney Stone Classification (ICKSC) system which is based on transfer learning mechanism and incorporates 8 Layered CNN, densenet169_model, mobilenetv2_model, vgg19_model and xception_model. The extensive experimentation has been conducted to evaluate the efficacy of the recommended structure and matched with the other prevailing hybrid deep learning model. Experimentation demonstrates that the suggested model has showed the superior predominance over the other models and exhibited better performance in terms of training loss, accuracy, recall and precision

    Innovation intermediaries and collaboration: Knowledge–based practices and internal value creation

    This paper analyses how knowledge-based practices adopted by innovation intermediaries enable them to generate value for themselves when collaborating with their clients. While the literature focuses on value creation for their client organisations, little is known about how innovation intermediaries create internal value even though this is essential for ensuring their long-term survival and sustaining their key facilitating role in the innovation system. This understudied issue is explored using empirical evidence from a sub-set of innovation intermediaries, Research and Technology Organisations (RTOs). The results indicate that by capitalising on existing knowledge vested in employees and collaborators as well as understanding and shaping the knowledge base of the innovation ecosystem, innovation intermediaries generate internal value from their involvement in collaborative innovation, which range from different financial to non-financial types of value. Implications for intermediaries, their collaborators and for policymakers are then discussed

    Use of probiotic Lactobacillus preparation to prevent diarrhoea associated with antibiotics: randomised double blind placebo controlled trial

    Objective To determine the efficacy of a probiotic drink containing Lactobacillus for the prevention of any diarrhoea associated with antibiotic use and that caused by Clostridium difficile. Design Randomised double blind placebo controlled study. Participants 135 hospital patients (mean age 74) taking antibiotics. Exclusions included diarrhoea on admission, bowel pathology that could result in diarrhoea, antibiotic use in the previous four weeks, severe illness, immunosuppression, bowel surgery, artificial heart valves, and history of rheumatic heart disease or infective endocarditis. Intervention Consumption of a 100 g (97 ml) drink containing Lactobacillus casei, L bulgaricus, and Streptococcus thermophilus twice a day during a course of antibiotics and for one week after the course finished. The placebo group received a longlife sterile milkshake. Main outcome measures Primary outcome: occurrence of antibiotic associated diarrhoea. Secondary outcome: presence of C difficile toxin and diarrhoea. Results 7/57 (12%) of the probiotic group developed diarrhoea associated with antibiotic use compared with 19/56 (34%) in the placebo group (P=0.007). Logistic regression to control for other factors gave an odds ratio 0.25 (95% confidence interval 0.07 to 0.85) for use of the probiotic, with low albumin and sodium also increasing the risk of diarrhoea. The absolute risk reduction was 21.6% (6.6% to 36.6%), and the number needed to treat was 5 (3 to 15). No one in the probiotic group and 9/53 (17%) in the placebo group had diarrhoea caused by C difficile (P=0.001). The absolute risk reduction was 17% (7% to 27%), and the number needed to treat was 6 (4 to 14). Conclusion Consumption of a probiotic drink containing L casei, L bulgaricus, and S thermophilus reduce the incidence of antibiotic associated diarrhoea and C difficile associated diarrhoea. This has the potential to decrease morbidity, healthcare costs, and mortality if used routinely in patients aged over 50

But these methods are proved to be laborious and its success rate is purely depends on the previous experiences. To achieve the better classification and segmentation of tumors, this paper proposes the hybrid ensemble of visual capsule networks in U-NET deep learning architecture and w deep feed-forward extreme learning machines. The proposed framework incorporates the data-preprocessing powerful data augmentation, saliency tumor segmentation (STS) followed by the classification phase. Furthermore, classification levels are constructed based upon the feed forward extreme learning machines (FFELM) to enhance the effectiveness of the suggested model .The extensive experimentation has been conducted to evaluate the efficacy of the recommended structure and matched with the other prevailing hybrid deep learning model. Experimentation demonstrates that the suggested model has showed the superior predominance over the other models and exhibited DICE co-efficient of kidney tumors as high as 0.96 and accuracy of 97.5 %respectively

    Multiple Molecular H2 Outflows in AFGL 618

    We report high spatial (0.5 arcsec) and high spectral (9 km/s) resolution spectro-imaging of the 2.12 micron H2 1-0 S(1) line in the proto-planetary nebula AFGL 618 using BEAR at the CFHT. The observations reveal the presence of multiple, high-velocity, molecular outflows that align with the remarkable optical jets seen in HST images. The structure and kinematics of the outflows show how jets interact with circumstellar gas and shape the environment in which planetary nebulae form.Comment: 14 pages, 5 figures.     Anomalous Raman scattering from phonons and electrons of superconducting FeSe0.82_{0.82}

    We report interesting anomalies in the temperature dependent Raman spectra of FeSe0.82_{0.82} measured from 3K to 300K in the spectral range from 60 to 1800 cm1^{-1} and determine their origin using complementary first-principles density functional calculations. A phonon mode near 100 cm1^{-1} exhibits a sharp increase by \sim 5% in frequency below a temperature Ts_s (\sim 100 K) attributed to strong spin-phonon coupling and onset of short-range antiferromagnetic order. In addition, two high frequency modes are observed at 1350 cm1^{-1} and 1600 cm1^{-1}, attributed to electronic Raman scattering from (x2y2x^2-y^2)to xzxz / yzyz dd-orbitals of Fe.Comment: 19 pages, 4 figures, 1 tabl

    The molecular envelope around the red supergiant VY CMa

    We present millimeter interferometric observations of the molecular envelope around the red supergiant VY CMa with the Submillimeter Array (SMA). The high angular resolution (<2′) allows us to derive the structure of the envelope as observed in the 1.3 mm continuum, 12CO(2-1), 13CO(2-1), and SO(6 5-5 4) lines emission. The circumstellar envelope is resolved into three components: (1) a dense, compact, and dusty central component, embedded in (2) a more diffuse and extended envelope, and (3) a high-velocity component. We construct a simple model, consisting of a spherically symmetric slowly expanding envelope and bipolar outflows with a wide opening angle (∼120°) viewed close to the line of sight (i = 15°). Our model can explain the main features of die SMA data and previous single-dish CO multiline observations. An episode of enhanced mass loss along the bipolar direction is inferred from our modeling. The SMA data provide a better understanding of the complicated morphology seen in the optical/IR high-resolution observations. © 2007. The American Astronomical Society.     Soluble curcumin prepared by solid dispersion using four different carriers: Phase solubility, molecular modelling and physicochemical characterization

    Purpose: To prepare curcumin solid dispersions (SDs) using four different carriers, evaluate their thermodynamic properties, and carry out physicochemical characterization on them. Methods: Solid dispersions (SDs) of curcumin were prepared using hot melt method. Hydrophilic carriers, including poloxamers (P-407 and P-188), gelucire 50/13 and mannitol were used in the ratios of 1:3, 1:4, 1:5, 1:6 and 1:7 (curcumin : carrier). The new formulations were characterized in the liquid state by phase solubility studies (PSS), and in the solid state using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, powder x-ray diffraction (PXRD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Molecular modelling (MM) was also performed on the SDs. Results: The results of PSS revealed an AL-type phase-solubility profile with spontaneous binding process, indicating 1:1 stoichiometry. The stability constant (Ka) of curcumin with various carriers at 25 and 37 °C were in the order: P-407 (631.9 and 524.9 M-1 ) &gt; P-188 (436.48 and 388.28 M-1 ) &gt; gelucire (100.14 and 112.05 M-1 ) &gt; mannitol (10.88 and 11.90 M-1 ). The maximum stability constants of P-407 at 25 and 37 °C were 631 and 524 M-1 , respectively, which produced an accurate fit on MM (in silico model). Curcumin-P-407 complex produced enhanced solubility property (318 ± 14.46-fold). Physicochemical characterization revealed a shift in curcumin structure from crystalline to amorphous form without any chemical alterations, thereby enhancing solubility. Conclusion: These results shown that the solubility of curcumin is greatly improved after its complexation with P-407 in SD, and the drug is converted into amorphous form without significant chemical modification

    A slowly expanding disk and fast bipolar outflow from the S star π1 gruis

    We study the molecular outflow of the nearby evolved S star π1 Gru. We imaged the outflow in CO J = 2-1 and dust continuum with the Submillimeter Array. The CO emission was detected over a very broad velocity width of ∼90 km s-1. Our high-resolution images show that the outflow at low velocities (≤15 km s-1) is elongated east-west and at high velocities (≥25 km s-1) is displaced north (at redshifted velocities) and south (blueshifted velocities) of center as defined by the dust continuum source. We model the spatial-kinematic structure of the low-velocity outflow as a flared disk with a central cavity of radius 200 AU and an expansion velocity of 11 km s-1, inclined by 55° to our line of sight. We attribute the high-velocity component to a bipolar outflow that emerges perpendicular to this disk with a velocity of up to ∼45 km s-1. This high-velocity outflow may play an important role in shaping the gas envelope previously ejected by the AGB star and thus produce a bipolar morphology when the object evolves into a proto-planetary nebula. © 2006.     While examining a collection of prawns from the Andhra coast, fourteen specimens of Solenocera Lucas which differed from all the known species of the genus were obtained. It is considered that these forms belong to a new species and described in detail below. The species has been named after the locality from which it was first collected
