The direction of restructuring the system of preparing entrepreneurs for the age of information

    Get PDF
The development of modern civilization is increasingly based on the use of in-formation resources. However, the related innovativeness of the economy depends on the preparation for such projects. In the discussion, the assumption was made that the shaping of appropriate entrepreneurial attitudes is of key importance in this respect. The group that has a special role to play are those who are studying in the field of economic studies. The article contains a comparison of the situation occurring in this area in Poland and in Spain, showing the direction of potential improvements

To succeed as youth athlete: Is it the dead end in track and field?

It is reasonable to believe that a young athlete who succeeds in a World Youth Championship, will also be successful as a senior athlete. To determine the percentage of success of all World Youth Championship finalists who also became finalists in a subsequent senior World Championship, considering all athletes and events at World Athletics Championships. This study analyzed the eight male and eight female finalists of all the events conducted at the World Athletics World Youth Championship from 1999 to 2009, who also became finalists at the World Athletics World Championship from 2001 to 2011. Percentage of success was calculated for track and field events, for male, female, and both. For all the events, from 1759 finalists in a World Youth Championship only 83, representing 4.72%, were also finalists in a World Championship in 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, or 2011. Of those 83 athletes, 45 were males and 38 were female. A low rate of success was found. These results were discussed including injuries, early specialization, biological maturation, and/or overtraining, as possible factors related to this low rate of success

Diachronic analiysis of motor comunication in traditional games and sports of the canary island

Las prácticas motrices estudiadas dan idea de la complejidad de la construcción de la tradición lúdica canariaA diachronic analysis of motor communication in three groups of traditional Canary Island games (‘aboriginal games’, ‘traditional games’, and ‘traditional sports’) was carried out in order to detect and define their social models. Both motor communication and motor interaction were analyzed and categorized according to motor praxeology criteria. When confrontation was the main function of the game, the dual structure was dominant over other forms of motor communication. The motor interaction diversification in the ‘traditional games’ group was not comparable to the other two groups due to the various ethno-motor modes used for the same activity. The motor study allows us to form an idea of the complexity of the construct of traditional Canary game

Visual Spike-based Convolution Processing with a Cellular Automata Architecture

    Get PDF
this paper presents a first approach for implementations which fuse the Address-Event-Representation (AER) processing with the Cellular Automata using FPGA and AER-tools. This new strategy applies spike-based convolution filters inspired by Cellular Automata for AER vision processing. Spike-based systems are neuro-inspired circuits implementations traditionally used for sensory systems or sensor signal processing. AER is a neuromorphic communication protocol for transferring asynchronous events between VLSI spike-based chips. These neuro-inspired implementations allow developing complex, multilayer, multichip neuromorphic systems and have been used to design sensor chips, such as retinas and cochlea, processing chips, e.g. filters, and learning chips. Furthermore, Cellular Automata is a bio-inspired processing model for problem solving. This approach divides the processing synchronous cells which change their states at the same time in order to get the solution.

    Get PDF
In the Information Society era the knowledge about entrepreneurial profile plays a leading role in assessing the probability of success of a venture and in designing curricula. The results of this initial research study show that those who participated in entrepreneurial training probably have a higher intention of entrepreneurship, greater perception of the feasibility of what they are planning and increased perception of risk when undertaking business

Rice grain cadmium concentrations in the global supply-chain

Artículo escrito por un elevado número de autores, solo se referencia el que aparece en primer lugar, el nombre del grupo de colaboración, si lo hubiere, y los autores pertenecientes a la UAMOne of cadmium’s major exposure routes to humans is through rice consumption. The concentrations of cadmium in the global polished (white), market rice supply-chain were assessed in 2270 samples, purchased from retailers across 32 countries, encompassing 6 continents. It was found on a global basis that East Africa had the lowest cadmium with a median for both Malawi and Tanzania at 4.9 μg/kg, an order of magnitude lower than the highest country, China with a median at 69.3 μg/kg. The Americas were typically low in cadmium, but the Indian sub-continent was universally elevated. In particular certain regions of Bangladesh had high cadmium, that when combined with the high daily consumption rate of rice of that country, leads to high cadmium exposures. Concentrations of cadmium were compared to the European Standard for polished rice of 200 μg/kg and 5% of the global supply-chain exceeded this threshold. For the stricter standard of 40 μg/kg for processed infant foods, for which rice can comprise up to 100% by composition (such as rice porridges, puffed rice cereal and cakes), 25% of rice would not be suitable for making pure rice baby foods. Given that rice is also elevated in inorganic arsenic, the only region of the world where both inorganic arsenic and cadmium were low in grain was East Afric

AER Neuro-Inspired interface to Anthropomorphic Robotic Hand

    Get PDF
Address-Event-Representation (AER) is a communication protocol for transferring asynchronous events between VLSI chips, originally developed for neuro-inspired processing systems (for example, image processing). Such systems may consist of a complicated hierarchical structure with many chips that transmit data among them in real time, while performing some processing (for example, convolutions). The information transmitted is a sequence of spikes coded using high speed digital buses. These multi-layer and multi-chip AER systems perform actually not only image processing, but also audio processing, filtering, learning, locomotion, etc. This paper present an AER interface for controlling an anthropomorphic robotic hand with a neuro-inspired system.Unión Europea IST-2001-34124 (CAVIAR)Ministerio de Ciencia y Tecnología TIC-2003-08164-C03-02Ministerio de Ciencia y Tecnología TIC2000-0406-P4- 0
