Levine's motivic comparison theorem revisited
For a field of characteristic zero, M. Levine has proved that his category of
triangulated motives is equivalent to the one constructed by V. Voevodsky. In
this paper we show that the strategy of Levine's proof can be applied on every
perfect field to the categories of triangulated motives with rational
coefficients.Comment: 40 pages, submitte

Interpersonality and culture: an approach to the movie review genre
Abstract: this paper investigates the impact of cultural values on the interactional metadiscourse (Hyland and Tse 2004) used in movie reviews drawn from two digital newspapers: the Peninsular-Spanish El País and the British The Guardian. Specifically, the influence of Hall’s (1976) “context dependence” and Hofstede’s (1991) “individualism index” is surveyed. The findings reveal similarities for both corpora due to genre constraints, but cultural differences are also found. The implication of the study is to raise awareness of the importance of interpersonal metadiscourse as a persuasive linguistic element in the teaching and learning of L2 writing skills. </jats:p
Review of Research in the Field Study of the Stress-Strain State of Concrete-Filled Structures
The paper presents an analytical review of the literature, which reflects the results of national and foreign scientific researches aimed to studying the features of the composition and dosage of components of self compacting concrete as one of the most promising aggregate for modern composite structures. In addition, the results of numerical and experimental researches of stress-strain state of composite structures (concrete-filled tubes) under the influence of various power factors, have been considered. The description and features of existing analytical methods for the determination of the bearing capacity of the considered structures under compression and bendings, have been given. The analysis of deformation model of confined concrete in a composition of the composite structure, as well as non-linear models of steel works with their distinctive features, has been carried out. The main approaches to the finite element modeling of composite structures have been determined
The present paper explores the way in which the cultural dimension of individualism is reflected in the interactional discourse of Spanish and us business websites. This cultural dimension is concerned with the way individuals from a particular culture define their own identity and their relationship with other people. Considering the scores of Spain and the US on the individualism index, the objective of this study is twofold: (a) to analyse the type of interactional metadiscourse strategies used on the presentation pages of Spanish and us toy company websites, and (b) to determine whether the individualism index scores of Spaniards and North Americans are reflected in different interactional metadiscourse strategies when companies establish a social relationship and persuade a potential customer to purchase their products. The results obtained confirm that there are important differences in the interactional discourse of this digital genre, which may be a valuable source of information for export companies that wish to introduce their products abroad by means of their business websites.
Perverse Nori motives
25 pagesInternational audienceIn this work we show that the Tannakian formalism developed by M. Nori applies to representations of quivers with values in an Abelian category that is Noetherian, Artinian and has with finite dimensional Hom groups. As an application, we define a relative version, modeled after perverse sheaves, of the Abelian category of motives constructed by M. Nori over a field of characteristic embedded in the field of complex numbers
Projection constants of almost-Milyutin spaces
We prove that there exist almost-Milyutin spaces whose projection
constants are numbers of the form ,
where are integers greater than 1. This generalizes
our earlier results, where we showed the existence of almost-Milyutin
spaces with exact projection constant greater or egual to n, for each
positive integer n
