Izgradnjom Uređaja za pročišćavanje otpadnih voda u Osijeku predviđen je dimnjak za ispuštanje plinova u atmosferu. Ispuštanje kemijskih spojeva utječe na kvalitetu života u okolini UPOV-a pa stoga zakon propisuje maksimalne dozvoljene vrijednosti koje smiju biti zabilježene. Za simulaciju oblaka i kvantifikaciju koncentracije korišten je advektivni model s utjecajem turbulentne difuzije. Promjenom visine dimnjaka do konačnog zadovoljenja zakonom propisanih vrijednosti na rubu postrojenja dolazi se do konačne visine dimnjaka.Work deals with concentration characterization caused by hydrogen sulfide, mercaptan and ammonium emission from the funnel. Considered transport mechanisms are advection and turbulent diffusion. Funnel height is investigated based on the concentration threshold proposed by legislation

Naselja i stanovništvo Darđanskog vlastelinstva na temelju popisa kotara Branjin Vrh iz 1785. godine

This work tries to present some demographic and social circumstances in the settlements of Darda manor in today\u27s Croatian part of Baranja in 1785, in order to answer the question; to which extent did the modernization which started from the Vienna court, and which, although in different intensity, embraced various fields of life, influence that manor. It also tries to determine the extent and in which areas did enlightener\u27s ideas have success. Analyses and interpretation are based exclusively on Croatian interpretation of Latin original by Stjepan Srsan, which under the title "Baranja in 1785" was published by National Archives in Osijek in 1999. The translation brings facts on Baranja county and region of Branjin vrh in general, and on settlements of Belje and Darda manor which are today in Croatian part of Baranja. The data from the list enable the insight to certain units of demographic structure of the inhabitants (population, religious and national belonging) as well as social - property structure and economic circumstances of the examined area and time, identifying the religious and nationality complexity of the population and traditional ways of economy and life

The possibility of using international project financing for defense systems

The term "project financing" is often used to describe all types of project financing, but in recent years it has evolved towards a more precise definition, so that it implies the financing of a particular economic unit in which lenders are comfortable to rely initially on the cash flow and income of these economic units, which the loans will be repaid from, and on the property of that economic unit as collateral for the given loan. Project funds can be adequately used to finance the defense system. They generally fall into the category of development priorities and usually enjoy numerous benefits (primarily tax and customs benefits) provided by the host country of a project, which generally generates more income for participants in project financing than when it comes to conventional credit. The BOT model for financing infrastructure projects has a number of potential benefits and it is an effective alternative in many countries with a more traditional approach to using government borrowing or state budget, with the government retaining strategic control over the project which will become public sector property

USA–China Trade War: Causes, Effects and Ethical Aspects

Rad donosi pregled nedavnih protekcionističkih mjera Sjedinjenih Američkih Država (SAD) prema Kini te daje uvid u dvogodišnji trgovinski rat između te dvije države. Analiziraju se postupci i posljedice na svjetsko gospodarstvo. Osim direktnih posljedica na Kinu i SAD, promatra se i neizravan utjecaj na druge zemlje. Promatra se svjetski trend nametanja trgovinskih mjera, njihove prednosti i nedostatci te etičke nedoumice povezane s međunarodnom trgovinskom razmjenom.At the beginning of 2018, the USA imposed a variety of tariffs and import duties. Since China was most affected by these taxes, the trade war began. The total value of US customs tariffs imposed on Chinese goods is worth US$550bn, while the total value of Chinese customs tariffs imposed on US goods amounts to US$ 185bn. Late in 2019, the end was looming — China committed to importing US$ 200bn worth of US goods over the next two years, while the US agreed to “halve” the tariffs on Chinese goods. One of the reasons behind the war is the fact that China exports much more to the US than it imports, while the reverse is true for the US. The US claims that China’s inadequate position in the WTO and manipulations of the RMB/USD exchange rate are to blame for its vast trade deficit. Another reason is the realization that through acquisitions and takeovers, China is acquiring advanced technology for which it has not been paying a fair corresponding price. However, higher import prices helped some USA corporations which compete with foreign exports, but at the same time increased domestic production costs and reduced the purchasing power of American households, thus negatively affecting consumption, investment and employment. This in turn amplified economic uncertainty and reduced potential economic growth in the long run. The ethics of the US decision to protect certain domestic companies from international competition, while at the same time inflicting greater costs on other economic entities (notably consumers) in the USA and around the globe are difficult to defend

INFLUENCE OF BIOLOGICAL THERAPEUTICS ON PATIENT-REPORTED QUALITY-OF-LIFE OUTCOMES (WHOQOL-BREF), FUNCTIONAL SCORES AND DISEASE ACTIVITY AMONG CROATIAN PATIENTS WITH RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS: OUR EXPERIENCE

Background: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic and disabling disease with a great impact on the quality of life (QOL). The aim of this study was to assess QOL and health in RA patients treated with biological disease-modifying drugs (bDMARDs) as opposed to those treated with conventional synthetic DMARDs (csDMARDs). We analysed four domains of QOL: physical health (D1), mental health (D2), social relationships (D3) and one\u27s surroundings (D4); as well as general quality of life (W1), general state of health (W2), and disease activity and physical disability. Subjects and methods: Seventy-seven RA patients (group A=29 on bDMARDs, group B= 48 on csDMARDs) were enrolled in the study. QOL was evaluated using WHO questionnaire (WHOQOL-BREF), disease activity using Disease ActivityScore28C-reactive protein (DAS28CRP) and functional status using Health Assessment Questionnaire (HAQ). Results: There was no statistically significant difference of mean values in the four domains of QOL, nor in the general QOL, between groups A and B. There was also no statistically significant difference regarding RA activity (3.51 vrs 3.54, p=0.56). However, we have found that the variable of the general state of health domain was statistically significantly higher in group B (2.66 vrs 2.89, p=0.001), while HAQ was statistically significantly higher in group A (1.19 vrs 1.07, p=0.018), as well as the duration of RA (6.25vrs 3.75 years, p=0.0006). Statistically significant correlation was found between HAQ and W2, disease duration and D3 in group A and DAS28CRP and D1, D2, W2 and HAQ and D1 and D2 in group B. Conclusion: These findings suggest that the inclusion of bDMARDs in the treatment regimen was overdue, with RA already advancing with developed functional disability, which prevented the achievement of the primary goals of treatment: low disease activity or remission and the improvement of patient\u27s QOL
