The study evaluates the profit performance of Islamic bank (Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad (BIMB) in terms of profitability ratio analysis such as Return on Asset, Return on Equity and also Net Profit Margin for the period 1990 until 2009. Financial ratios are applied in measuring these performances. T-test and F-test are used in determining their significance. The findings of this study will be beneficial to Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad in recognizing the factors that determine the profit performance. This uses secondary data and data analysis to shows the relationship between the profit and ROA, ROE and NPM and the factor that highly influence the profit performance. Finally, the findings indicate that two independent variables have significant relationship towards dependent variable which is the ROA and NPM have significant relationship with profit performanc

The Impact of the Islamic Peer Mentoring Module on Student Religious Personality in Higher Education

    Get PDF
Islamic peer mentoring program is one of the guidance methods practiced in Islamic education. Researchers agree that it can improve Islamic practices and understanding of religion, but in some cases, a modular guide must be implemented. Therefore, an Islamic peer mentoring module has been developed and tested empirically to develop religious personality among university students. A result from a quasi-experimental research design shows that this module has successfully increased religious personality among university students in Malaysia. Thus, it makes the Islamic peer mentoring module an excellent alternative to the successful Islamic peer mentoring program at the university

Islands in Malaysia have been seen as invaluable resources for the country since the development of tourism based island activities have contributed a lot to the economic growth. The record of tourists’ entries, attests that an increase in tourists’ entry has spurred the economic growth. In addition, the differences of the natural characteristic among these islands can contribute to the Total Economic Impact (TEI). On the other hand, it is also found that the increase of tourists’ entry has given negative impact to the ecosystems such as the coral reefs. Therefore, one method is needed to measure to what extend the coral reef is damaged with the increase of tourists’ entry in an effort to increase the Total Economic Impact (TEI). This study is conducted to develop a simulation model to estimate the Total Economic Impact (TEI) for ecotourism activities in Pulau Payar, the first marine park in Malaysia. Using System Dynamics (SD) methodology, Total Economic Impact (TEI) at Pulau Payar can be determined by looking at the cause and effect relationship between the sub-sectors based on the concept of Total Economic Value (TEV). Sensitivity Analysis and Extreme Cases Analysis methods are employed to validate the findings. This study suggests that Pulau Payar needs to focus on ways and means to increase the entry number of tourists and at the same time to increase the level of awareness about the destruction of coral reefs so that the damage can be reduced. As a result, Total Economic Impact (TEI) can be increased

Staphylococcus aureus is the most common and important cause of life threatening bacterial infection with a high mortality rate. The absence of a positive culture represents a dilemma in diagnosis and treatment, therefore an alternative method that is cheap, user friendly and rapid with high sensitivity and specificity is needed to help in the diagnosis

Automatic Generation of test Cases from Use-Case Diagram

Intelligent searching techniques have been developed in order to provide a solution to the issue of finding information relevant to the user needs, and the problem of information overload - when far too much information is returned from a search. We employ this technique to introduce an automatic tool which used to generate the test cases automatically according to the system’s requirement. The tool uses two steps for generating test cases. First, the system’s requirements are transformed into a Unified Modeling Language (UML) Use-case Diagram. Second, the test cases will be automatic generated according to the use cases respectively. In the workspace, the ToolBox is used in order to ease the drawing of the use-case diagram. As well as allowing a user to layout the requirements of the system via a use-case diagram in the provided workspace, a user also may type-in the properties for each of the use cases used. Once the use- case diagram has been finalized, it can be save for further used and modification. The engine of the tool will take the use cases from the use-case diagram and search the query string (keyword) used in the tool’s library. The searching engine uses both search keyword and additional information of the use-case diagram. This combination will result in improving data retrieval performance. Once the use case used matches the keyword inside the tool’s library, the engine will automatically generate its respective test cases according to its use case

This research was conducted to survey the status and needs of the career services in secondary schools and to build and produce a career services standardization for secondary schools in Malaysia. The method used is generic or basic qualitative research. Triangulation data is obtained by sources from the practitioners’ respondent, standard documents and response of specialist panel. Every data has been analyzed by process of constant comparative. The inspection of data is appertaining to the forming of kategory and themes. The practitioner respondent data are obtained through a focused group discussion. A number of 22 counselors chosen by the purposive sampling and have participated in three focus group discussion where the researcher acted as the moderator. It resulted in having a variation and differences in the way the career services are conducted by the counselors. This is reported happened due a lack of clear guidelines, no specific schedule, lack of competency, lack of information, time limit, work load, lack of support, no source for getting information, no self-improvement course and lack of amenities. Based on these data, this research has identified the needs to have standardization for career services in Malaysian secondary school as well as the career services standard suggested by school counselllors. The document data are obtained from four analyzed documents. From the content of the document, an early draft for the standardization suggestion has been created and evaluated by three of experts. The experts were asked to criticize the early draft, insert additional criteria and give suggestion for improvement. The expert data are obtained from three experts who have been chosen to use the purposive sampling technique. These data were obtained from the critics that have been made by each expert on the early draft and through individual interview with each expert. The interview data are analyzed to identify the suggestion for career service standardization from the point of view of the career experts. There are three types of data obtained (the practitioner data, the document data and the expert data). There data have been analyzed according to the various components and elements discovered. The result shows the standard of career services in Malaysian secondry school. Standard of career services results reveal three parts: Part 1 – General Standard In Services involves components of facilities/material/equipment, qualification/skill of school counsellor including ethics and professionalism. Part 2 - Standard Of Eficiency In The Area Of Services Involving testing and eavaluation, career programme, information/sources/dissemination, career counselling and placement. Part 3 - Standard Of Capability Of Practitioner consists of management and administration, network, technology, consultancy, research, diversity and equality, evaluation programme. The finding of the research has implication on the changing of the career programme policy in secondary schools, raising the base academic and professsional training for the career practitioner as well as the support and cooperation of all parties to build up a career counselling programme in the secondary school. It recoordinates changes in the work technique of the school counsellor to raise up human capital who have directions in future

Squirrel is one of the important natural components in urban ecosystems. It commonly inhabits urban parks in many cities of Peninsular Malaysia. The understanding of how they use trees is essential in creating wildlife habitats for supporting wildlife-oriented recreational activities in urban parks. Direct observation through focal animal sampling was employed in order to understand the tree composition which influences squirrel’s behaviours in Botanical Garden, Putrajaya. The result shows that squirrels mainly forage and feed in fruits and flowers bearing trees. Inasmuch, this paper suggests the tree species composition which is suitable for squirrel’s habitat in urban park
