The top quark discovery in 1995 at Fermilab is one of the major proofs of the standard model (SM). Due to its unique place in SM, the top quark is an important particle for testing the theory and probing for new physics. This article presents most recent measurements of top quark properties from the D0 detector. In particular, the measurement of the top quark mass, the top antitop mass difference and the top quark decay width.Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures. Changes of Interleukins in Patients with Nosocomial Pneumonia Against a Background of Traumatic Brain Injury: Role in the Diagnosis and Monitoring of Disease

    Get PDF
Introduction. Nosocomial pneumonia (NP) is the second leading frequency and mortality among nosocomial infections. NP is a frequent complication of severe traumatic brain injury (TBI). The difficulty in diagnosis and monitoring of disease NP on the background of TBI is that the usual signs NP "masked" manifestations of the underlying disease. The aim of our study was to improve the diagnosis and assess the effectiveness of the treatment of nosocomial pneumonia with clarithromycin by studying of serum interleukins in patients with nosocomial pneumonia on the background of traumatic brain injury.Materials and methods. We determined levels of TNFα, IL-4, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10. We examined 45 patients with isolated TBI, 44 patients with NP (standard treatment scheme), 49 patients with NP, each therapy with clarithromycin. The control group was 33 relatively healthy people.Conclusions. The study revealed a significant increase in the concentration of interleukin TNFα, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10 in the serum of patients with NP on the background of TBI compared with patients with isolated TBI and healthy individuals. Our study found significantly lower concentrations of interleukin TNFα, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10 in the serum of patients after treatment with the addition of clarithromycin compared with patients with standard therapy

Frequency tuning of the whispering gallery modes of silica microspheres for CQED and spectroscopy

    Get PDF
We have tuned the whispering gallery modes of a fused silica microresonator over nearly 1 nm at 800 nm, i.e. over 0.5 FSR or 10^6 linewidths of the resonator. This has been achieved by a new method based on the stretching of a two-stem microsphere. The devices described below will permit new Cavity-QED experiments with this high-Q optical resonator when it is desirable to optimize its coupling to emitters with given transition frequencies. The tuning capability demonstrated here is compatible with both UHV and low temperature operation, which should be useful for future experiments with laser cooled atoms or single quantum dots.Comment: ReVTeX, 4 pages, 3 figure

"Socialist cities" under post-Soviet conditions: symbolic changes and new ways of representation

The construction of so-called “socialist cities” (sotsgorods), implemented in the USSR in the 1920 and 1930s, proved to become one of the most radical and large-scale urban experiments realized in the 20th century. That project was aimed at creating a completely new urban space which embodied a concept of an ideal social living and utopian dream of the “cities of the future”. The fall of socialism turned all “socialist cities” into “devastated” spaces which had lost their functional meaning, symbolic significance and any clear narratives. This article tries to reveal how these “socialist cities” have been integrated into the current urban reality and symbolic contexts of the post-Soviet period. It seeks to explore whether spaces of the former “socialist cities” are able today to acquire any new symbolical meanings replacing previous ones and, if so, how these meanings are reproduced under current conditions. The author focuses on the case of the Uralmash district in Yekaterinburg (Russia) which was established in the 1930s as exemplary socialist city and became one of the fast-growing urban settlements in the USSR. The paper analyses the symbolic representations of the Uralmash district in the post-Soviet period and, traces the shifts of major narratives which have outlined new symbolic boundaries of this urban area in the last decades. It is claimed that transformation and changes of “socialist cities” under post-Soviet conditions depend not only on the new urban city-planning initiatives, but also on the new symbols and meanings that give a clear vision of these spaces in current social and cultural contexts.

OPTIMIZATION OF REGULATORY MECHANISMS AS A CONDITION OF COMPETITIVE TRANSPORT COMPLEX

    Get PDF
At the present time for confident entrance to the European transport system with its standards, technical, organizational and ecological norms, the transport network of regions and the whole Ukraine requires constant qualitative updating. A number of important actions in this direction are already carried out, at the same time, to maintain an effective utilization of the international transport corridors in new conditions, it is important to reach the ultimate coordination of actions of all participants in this sphere.Complexity and immensity of the problems connected to the improvement of management of transport systems, leads to the necessity of an overall problem solution of the balanced transport development, transport systems and multi-modal transport development as a basic element of domestic potential growth of the state. Maintenance of these processes should be carried out through working out the programs of national transport system development and regional development programs in this direction. Therefore a research problem is to lay out the recommendations and methodical approaches to the problems of realization the above-stated programs and development strategy. In the presented article the basic problems of realization of the assigned tasks are designated, the principles underlying their performance are constructed, the legislative base which represents a legal mechanism of programs realization is defined, and recommendations which will give the chance to provide dynamic balanced development of a transport network of the country are presented. All these factors will help bring into the standards of living to the European ones and to create conditions for economic activity strengthening in all regions of the country that will contribute gradual easing of inter-regional disproportion, reduction of risks of formation of depressive territories and will protect society from considerable expenses on renewal of appropriate conditions of their ability to live

Collective actions for reconfiguration of urban space Biały Bór, Poland

[EN] Biały Bór is located in the former German territories that came to Poland after the Second World War. The almost complete replacement of the indigenous German and Jewish populations, initially by Polish and soon Ukrainian communities, was the result of the displacement of state borders by the eviction and relocation of millions of people. To do this, the authorities used certain strategies, which brought different approaches and constraints to local communities and urban spaces. The article considers the differences between the declared principles and the actual actions of the authorities in the context of “small stories” of all actors (national communities), as well as the tactics of indirect resistance of the local community to government pressure. Due to the remoteness of the place from the state center and due to its unanimity, the local community becomes the driving force of the spatial development of the city. And since the city is multicultural, the development of public spaces is influenced by the competitiveness (not confrontation) of two local communities. Therefore, the creation of public spaces is considered in the context of the rights of different groups to the city. This paper argues the conditions under which it is the collective actions of local communities that determine the change in the configuration of urban space.Ilchenko, S. (2021). Most national and international research in the area of violent crime directed at the study of men. However, crime committed by women, is recognized as a serious criminological and social problem in Russia. Usually women are associated with a special volume in the society; they gave great influence to family and children. That is why female crime (especially violent) remains a matter of surprise, suspicion and is considered as abnormal behavior. In this paper, based on empirical research we want to show some tendencies of female crime. Official statistic of the Federal Penal Service was analyzed and also we use the results of empirical study conducted in the penal colony of Vladivostok. The survey had place in March 2013. Total 212 women from 18 to 64 years old were attended
