This thesis elaborates on the perception of employees in a private sector bank on the effectiveness of Disaster Recovery Planning. In this study, there were 4 variables choose by researcher. Effectiveness of Disaster Recovery Planning is the dependant variable while awareness of employees, technology and planning & preparation are selected to be independent variables for this research. This research used primary data which gathered from Scope International (M) Sdn Bhd then produced using SPSS for correlation analysis. The result then has been analyzed to see whether there are correlation between the dependant and independent variables or not. The study found that Awareness and Technology has no significant relationship and however shows positive impact towards the perception towards Disaster Recovery Planning. Meanwhile Proper planning and preparation shows significant

Backward Stochastic Differential Equations (BSDEs) Using Infinite-dimensional Martingales with Subdifferential Operator

In this paper, we focus on a family of backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs) with sub-differential operators that are driven by infinite-dimensional martingales which involve symmetry, that is, the process involves a positive definite nuclear operator Q. We shall show that the solution to such infinite-dimensional BSDEs exists and is unique. The existence of the solution is established using Yosida approximations, and the uniqueness is proved using Fixed Point Theorem. Furthermore, as an application of the main result, we shall show that the backward stochastic partial differential equation driven by infinite-dimensional martingales with a continuous linear operator has a unique solution under the condition that the function F equals to zero

Anticipated BSDEs driven by fractional Brownian motion with time-delayed generator

This paper discusses a new type of anticipated backward stochastic differential equation with a time-delayed generator (DABSDEs, for short) driven by fractional Brownian motion, also known as fractional BSDEs, with Hurst parameter H(1/2,1)H\in(1/2,1), which extends the results of the anticipated backward stochastic differential equation to the case of the drive is fractional Brownian motion instead of a standard Brownian motion and in which the generator considers not only the present and future times but also the past time. By using the fixed point theorem, we will demonstrate the existence and uniqueness of the solutions to these equations. Moreover, we shall establish a comparison theorem for the solutions

Pricing arithmetic Asian put option with early exercise boundary under jump-diffusion process

    Get PDF
Arithmetic Asian options is a financial derivatives whose payoff depends on the average of underlying asset which can either be European-style or American-style. The aim of this study is to provide a pricing formulae for arithmetic Asian option with early exercise boundary under jump-diffusion process by implementing probabilistic approach and conditional expected values. We provide numerical examples for approximation formulae of arithmetic Asian option using quadrature methods and compare the results with Monte Carlo simulation which demonstrate the efficiency of the numerical integration technique

Pregnancy in a uterine anomaly: a case report

    Get PDF
Pregnancy in rudimentary horn of the uterus is a rare clinical condition and often misdiagnosed as tubal, cornual, abdominal and even intrauterine pregnancy. Surgical excision of the horn is the definitive treatment for this condition. A healthy primigravida at 11 weeks gestation with underlying corrected Tetralogy of Fallot was seen with ultrasound findings suggestive of ectopic pregnancy. She underwent laparotomy and intraoperative finding was unruptured right non-communicating rudimentary horn pregnancy which was surgically excised. This case highlights the importance of having this rare diagnosis as one of the differential diagnosis for ectopic pregnancy

Outlier detection in 2 × 2 crossover design using Bayesian framework

    Get PDF
We consider the problem of outlier detection method in 2×2 crossover design via Bayesian framework. We study the problem of outlier detection in bivariate data fitted using generalized linear model in Bayesian framework used by Nawama. We adapt their work into a 2×2 crossover design. In Bayesian framework, we assume that the random subject effect and the errors to be generated from normal distributions. However, the outlying subjects come from normal distribution with different variance. Due to the complexity of the resulting joint posterior distribution, we obtain the information on the posterior distribution from samples by using Markov Chain Monte Carlo sampling. We use two real data sets to illustrate the implementation of the method

The cost of radiology procedures using Activity Based Costing (ABC) for development of cost weights in implementation of casemix system in Malaysia

    Get PDF
Presently there is a gross lack of information on cost and cost weights in many developing countries that implement casemix system. Furthermore, studies that employed Activity Based Costing method (ABC) to estimate the costs of radiology procedures were rarely done in developing countries, including Malaysia. The main objective of this study is to determine the costs of radiology procedures for each group in casemix system, in order to develop cost weights to be used in the implementation of the casemix system. An economic evaluation study was conducted in all units in the Department of Radiology in the first teaching hospital using the casemix system in Malaysia. From the 25,754 cases, 16,173 (62.8%) of them were from medical discipline. Low One Third and High One Third (L3H3) method was employed to trim the outlier cases. Output from the trimming, 15,387 cases were included in the study. The results revealed that the total inpatients’ charges of all the radiology procedures was RM1,820,533.00 while the cost imputed using ABC method was RM2,970,505.54. The biggest cost component were human resources in Radiology Unit (Mobile) (57.5%), consumables (78.5%) of Endovascular Interventional Radiology (EIR) Unit, equipment (81.4%) of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Unit, reagents (68.1%) of Medical Nuclear Unit. The one highest radiology cost weight, was for Malaysia Diagnosis Related Group (MY-DRG®) B-4-11-II (Hepatobiliary and Pancreas Neoplasms with severity level II, 2.8301). The method of calculation of the cost of procedures need to be revised by the hospital as findings from this study showed that the cost imposed to patient is lower than the actual cost

Structural and optical properties of gold nanosphericals in variation of growth time using seed mediated growth method

    Get PDF
Nanogold is a type of metallic nanostructures and it is very sensitive to the dielectric environment of the materials due to strong dependency of plasmon on shapes and sizes. The unique properties of gold nanostructures can be implemented as sensing material in Localized Surface Plasmon Resonance (LSPR) sensor. This paper reports an experimental study on growth time effect towards structural and optical properties of gold nanosphericals (AuNSs). The gold nanoplates have been grown on a substrate using seed mediated growth method (SMGM). In this study, the growth time was varied from 30 minutes to seven hours. The largest size of AuNSs is ~ 82.67 nm obtained from 7 hours growth time sample. XRD analysis shows a peak of the diffraction angle occurs at the plane (111) in position ~ 38.19º. The optical absorption spectra of all samples show resonance peaks in the range of 530 nm to 560 nm, which are corresponding to the transverse surface plasmon resonance (t-SPR). Thus, in this study, it was found that the growth time affected the growth of the gold nanostructures with optimum growth time of seven hours. Longer growth time resulted in the larger size of AuNSs and therefore, it is not very suitable to be used in LSPR sensing application
