Exact solution of a quantum forced time-dependent harmonic oscillator
The Schrodinger equation is used to exactly evaluate the propagator, wave function, energy expectation values, uncertainty values, and coherent state for a harmonic oscillator with a time dependent frequency and an external driving time dependent force. These quantities represent the solution of the classical equation of motion for the time dependent harmonic oscillator
Pharmacological activity of 2,3,8-tri-O-methyl ellagic acid isolated from the stem bark of Irvingia gabonensis
2,3,8-Tri-O-methyl ellagic acid was isolated from the stem bark of Irvingia gabonensis. The acid showed significant antimicrobial activity on some pathogens
Fifty years of oil exploration in Nigeria: The paradox of plenty
It is expected that countries with an abundance of natural resources should prosper. Yet over many years, it has been observed that nations rich in oil, gas, or mineral resources have been disadvantaged in the drive for economic progress. The concept of resource curse which refers to theobservation that nations with rich endowments of natural resources [oil as in the case of Nigeria] often dramatically under perform economically relative to what one would expect was used in this study. The methods employed in data collection, primarily from secondary sources include; literature review of NNPC publications, national dailies and newsmagazines; internet reports on OPEC, oil production in Nigeria, etc. Descriptive statistic was used in data analysis. The results revealed that the oil wealth was initially well applied towards the development of the country. Overtime, successive governments began to mismanage it and a situation like this had given rise to other contemporary oil nations overtaking Nigeria. The consequence is that the early gains of oil disappeared in the face of declining quality of general infrastructure across the country. The growingreliance of the country on oil and gas alone may undermine the democratic structure-rule of law, political stability [as in the case of militancy in the Niger Delta region], government effectiveness and the fight against corruptio
Trigeminal nerve morphology in the American alligator : implications for infering sensory potential in extinct species [abstract]
Among the many adaptations of modern crocodilians, one of the most intriguing is their derived sense of face touch, in which numerous trigeminal nerve-innervated dome pressure receptors speckle the face and mandible and sense vibrations and other mechanical stimuli, directing the animal towards, or away from stimuli. However, the morphological features of this system are not well known, and it remains unclear how aspects of the trigeminal system change during ontogeny and how they scale with other cranial and nervous structures
The Wave Function and the Minimum Uncertainty Function of the Time Dependent Harmonic Oscillator(New Developments in Statistical Physics Similarities in Diversities,YITP Workshop)
この論文は国立情報学研究所の電子図書館事業により電子化されました。The time dependent harmonic oscillator is solved explicitly for quantum mechanics by the operator method with an auxiliary condition as the classical solution. Two classical invariant quantities which determine whether or not the system is bound are derived by the classical equation of motion. We obtain the invariant operator from one classical invariant quantity. Its eigenfunction is related to the solution of Schrodinger equation of the system and its eigenvalue is related to another classical quantity. The wave function is evaluated exactly by the eigenfunction of the invariant operator but it is not the eigenfunction of the Hamiltonian of the system. The uncertainty which calculates with the wave function is not a minimum one. We will confirm that the function which holds minimum uncertainty is a eigenfunction of the Hamiltonian
The wave function and minimum uncertainty function of the bound quadratic Hamiltonian system
The bound quadratic Hamiltonian system is analyzed explicitly on the basis of quantum mechanics. We have derived the invariant quantity with an auxiliary equation as the classical equation of motion. With the use of this invariant it can be determined whether or not the system is bound. In bound system we have evaluated the exact eigenfunction and minimum uncertainty function through unitary transformation
Alternative products by the livestock sector in Malta
Malta became a member state within the European
Union in May 2004. The Maltese agricultural sector now
has access to one of the largest markets, but in return
had to remove all sorts of protectionism from inbound
European products. As we stand to-date/ two years post
membership, the livestock sector is expressing a lethargic
attitude and portraying an air of despair and confusion.
In evaluating the real extent of deterioration, one should
separate the facts from perceptions of the present situation as compared to the real situation prior to accession.
Fortunately, several reliable comprehensive references
are available They include a comprehensive study entitled
Malta Agricultural Policy and EC Membership: Challenges and
Opportunities by FAa; Animal Waste in Maltese Agriculture
by Peter Jackson; and Census of Agriculture 2001 published
by the National Statistics Office, Malta. FAO's project had
the objective of carrying out an agricultural sector review
aimed at the implementation of the new international
and domestic policy changes necessary for eventual EU
membership. The findings, with particular emphasis on the proposal for dealing with key agricultural policy,
were presented in the report.
The aim of this paper is to compare and contrast
aspects of livestock production pre and post membership.
