    Effects of user experience and method in the inflation of endotracheal tube pilot balloon on cuff pressure

    Context: Endotracheal tube cuff pressure (ETCP) is recommended to be maintained between 20.30 cmH2O limits. While insufficient inflation of ETC may cause aspirations, over.inflation of it may lead to damage in tracheal epithelium.Aims: We planned to investigate the effects of user experience and cuff pressure inflation method differences following endotracheal tube cuff pressure and complaints about it.Patients and Methods: Two hundred and fifty patients planned for general anaesthesia were included in this study. ETC was inflated by users with different experience according to leakage or pilot balloon palpation techniques. ETCPs were measured by manometer at three periods (5 and 60 minutes after endotracheal intubation, and before extubation). Complaints about it were recorded in post anaesthetic care unit and 24 hours postoperatively.Results: Though we found experience of user had significant effect on the ETCP regulations, we observed inflation methods did not have any effect. However we found ETCP was higher than normal range with experienced users. A correlation was observed between cuff pressure and anaesthesia duration with postoperative complaints.Conclusions: Our study concluded that the methods used do not have any significant advantage over one another. While ETC inflated at normal pressure increases as userfs experience increases, experience alone is not enough in adjusting ETCP. A manometer should be used in routine inflation of ETC instead of conventional methods. CP and anaesthesia duration have correlations with some postoperative complaints.Key words: Endotracheal tube cuff pressure, experience of user, inflation method

    One-point functions in massive integrable QFT with boundaries

    We consider the expectation value of a local operator on a strip with non-trivial boundaries in 1+1 dimensional massive integrable QFT. Using finite volume regularisation in the crossed channel and extending the boundary state formalism to the finite volume case we give a series expansion for the one-point function in terms of the exact form factors of the theory. The truncated series is compared with the numerical results of the truncated conformal space approach in the scaling Lee-Yang model.     \ua9 2024 The Authors.A polyphasic study was designed to determine the taxonomic status of isolate CSLK01-03T, which was recovered from an Indonesian neutral hot spring and provisionally assigned to the genus Rhodococcus. The isolate was found to have chemo-taxonomic, cultural and morphological properties typical of rhodococci. It has a rod–coccus lifecycle and grows from 10 to 39 \ub0C, from pH 6.5 to 8.0 and in the presence of 0–10% (w/v) sodium chloride. Whole-organism hydrolysates contain meso-diaminopimelic acid, arabinose and galactose, the predominant menaquinone is MK-8 (H2), the polar lipid pattern consists of diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylinositol mannosides, phosphatidylmethylethanolamine and two unidentified components, it produces mycolic acids, and C16:0 is the major fatty acid. Whole-genome analyses show that the isolate and Rhodococcus electrodiphilus LMG 29881T (GenBank accession: JAULCK000000000) have genome sizes of 5.5 and 5.1 Mbp, respectively. These strains and Rhodococcus aetherivorans DSM 44752T and Rhodococcus ruber DSM 43338T form well-supported lineages in 16S rRNA and whole-genome trees that are close to sister lineages composed of the type strains of Rhodococcus rhodochrous and related Rhodococcus species. The isolate can be distinguished from its closest evolutionary neighbours using combinations of cultural and phenotypic features, and by low DNA–DNA hybridization values. Based on these data it is proposed that isolate CSLK01-03T (=CCMM B1310T=ICEBB-06T=NCIMB 15214T) be classified in the genus Rhodococcus as Rhodococcus indonesiensis sp. nov. The genomes of the isolate and its closest phylogenomic relatives are rich in biosynthetic gene clusters with the potential to synthesize new natural products, notably antibiotics. In addition, whole-genome-based taxonomy revealed that Rhodococ-cus electrodiphilus LMG 29881T and Rhodococcus ruber DSM 43338T belong to a single species. It is, therefore, proposed that R. electrodiphilus be recognized as a heterotypic synonym of R. ruber

    Apport des techniques géospatiales pour l’analyse de la productivité des aquifères fissurés de la région de Dioulatiedougou (Nord-Ouest de la Côte d’Ivoire)

    L’approvisionnement en eau potable demeure une préoccupation majeure pour les populations en Côte d’Ivoire du fait de la mauvaise exploitation et gestion des données disponibles. La satisfaction d’un tel besoin passe par l’existence d’informations détaillées, fiables et bien organisées sur la qualité et l’environnement de ces eaux souterraines. L’objectif de cette étude est d’élaborer un outil d’aide à décision permettant le suivi et l’optimisation de la productivité des forages à partir d’analyses géospatiales. La démarche adoptée est celle d’une géodatabase qui nécessite une compilation de données sémantique et géographique basées sur un modèle relationnel et qui utilise les techniques de spatialisation et de géostatistique. Le résultat de ce travail est une interface conviviale qui facilite la consultation et la saisie de données sur les forages réalisés. Les analyses spatiale et statistique effectuées montrent que les débits des forages réalisés oscillent entre 0,0 et15m3/h avec une moyenne de 3,95 m3/h. Les classes de débits faibles, moyens et forts représentent 73,33% des débits des forages de cette localité. Les relations entre la productivité et la géologie ont montré que ce sont les granites à biotite et les gneiss qui fournissent les meilleurs débits. Ils possèdent en effet, le plus grand nombre d’arrivée d’eau. Cette géodatabase met à la disposition des gestionnaires des outils d'analyse et d'aide à la décision pour la planification et l’évaluation des forages.Mots clés : Modélisation des données, géodatabase, géostatistique, forages, Dioulatiédougou, Côte d’Ivoir

    Influence of acoustic cavitation on the controlled ultrasonic dispersion of carbon nanotubes.

    Ultrasonication is the most widely used technique for the dispersion of a range of nanomaterials, but the intrinsic mechanism which leads to stable solutions is poorly understood with procedures quoted in the literature typically specifying only extrinsic parameters such as nominal electrical input power and exposure time. Here we present new insights into the dispersion mechanism of a representative nanomaterial, single-walled carbon nanotubes (SW-CNTs), using a novel up-scalable sonoreactor and an in situ technique for the measurement of acoustic cavitation activity during ultrasonication. We distinguish between stable cavitation, which leads to chemical modification of the surface of the CNTs, and inertial cavitation, which favors CNT exfoliation and length reduction. Efficient dispersion of CNTs in aqueous solution is found to be dominated by mechanical forces generated via inertial cavitation, which in turn depends critically on surfactant concentration. This study highlights that careful measurement and control of cavitation rather than blind application of input power is essential in the large volume production of nanomaterial dispersions with tailored properties

    Scattering and duality in the 2 dimensional OSP(2|2) Gross Neveu and sigma models

    We write the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz for the massive OSp(2|2) Gross Neveu and sigma models. We find evidence that the GN S matrix proposed by Bassi and Leclair [12] is the correct one. We determine features of the sigma model S matrix, which seem highly unconventional; we conjecture in particular a relation between this sigma model and the complex sine-Gordon model at a particular value of the coupling. We uncover an intriguing duality between the OSp(2|2) GN (resp. sigma) model on the one hand, and the SO(4) sigma (resp. GN model) on the other, somewhat generalizing to the massive case recent results on OSp(4|2). Finally, we write the TBA for the (SUSY version of the) flow into the random bond Ising model proposed by Cabra et al.     Unsupervised anomaly detection for underwater gliders using generative adversarial networks

    An effective anomaly detection system is critical for marine autonomous systems operating in complex and dynamic marine environments to reduce operational costs and achieve concurrent large-scale fleet deployments. However, developing an automated fault detection system remains challenging for several reasons including limited data transmission via satellite services. Currently, most anomaly detection for marine autonomous systems, such as underwater gliders, rely on intensive analysis by pilots. This study proposes an unsupervised anomaly detection system using bidirectional generative adversarial networks guided by assistive hints for marine autonomous systems with time series data collected by multiple sensors. In this study, the anomaly detection system for a fleet of underwater gliders is trained on two healthy deployment datasets and tested on other nine deployment datasets collected by a selection of vehicles operating in a range of locations and environmental conditions. The system is successfully applied to detect anomalies in the nine test deployments, which include several different types of anomalies as well as healthy behaviour. Also, a sensitivity study of the data decimation settings suggests the proposed system is robust for Near Real-Time anomaly detection for underwater gliders

    Foreign gene expression in Hansenula polymorpha. A system for the synthesis of small functional peptides

    We describe the synthesis and purification of two functional peptides, namely human insulin-like growth factor II (IGF-II) and Xenopus laevis magainin II in Hansenula polymorpha after their synthesis as hybrid proteins fused to the C terminus of endogenous amine oxidase. The hybrid genes, placed under control of the H. polymorpha alcohol oxidase promoter (PAOX), were integrated into the genomic alcohol oxidase locus, yielding stable production strains. High-level synthesis of the fusion proteins, exceeding 20% of total cellular protein, was obtained when the transformed strains were grown in methanol-limited chemostat cultures; when expressed by itself, i.e. in the absence of the amine oxidase gene, IGF-II could not be recovered from crude cell extracts, probably as a result of rapid proteolytic degradation. Accumulation in peroxisomes did not significantly affect the IGF-II protein stability when expressed in the absence of the carrier protein. Apparently, fusion to the large (±78 kDa) amine oxidase carrier particularly stabilizes the peptides and prevents them from proteolysis. After partial purification, the fusion partners were readily separated by factor Xa treatment

    TBA, NLO Luscher correction, and double wrapping in twisted AdS/CFT

    The ground-state energy of integrably-twisted theories is analyzed in finite volume. We derive the leading and next-to-leading order (NLO) L\"uscher-type corrections for large volumes of the vacuum energy for integrable theories with twisted boundary conditions and twisted S-matrix. We then derive the twisted thermodynamic Bethe ansatz (TBA) equations to describe exactly the ground state, from which we obtain an untwisted Y-system. The two approaches are compared by expanding the TBA equations to NLO, and exact agreement is found. We give explicit results for the O(4) model and for the three-parameter family of Îł\gamma-deformed (non-supersymmetric) planar AdS/CFT model, where the ground-state energy can be nontrivial and can acquire finite-size corrections. The NLO corrections, which correspond to double-wrapping diagrams, are explicitly evaluated for the latter model at six loops.Comment: 42 pages, 2 figures, v2: references added, v3: minor correction
