    Topological classification of vortex-core structures of spin-1 Bose-Einstein condensates

    We classify vortex-core structures according to the topology of the order parameter space. By developing a method to characterize how the order parameter changes inside the vortex core. We apply this method to the spin-1 Bose-Einstein condensates and show that the vortex-core structures are classified by winding numbers that are locally defined in the core region. We also show that a vortex-core structure with a nontrivial winding number can be stabilized under a negative quadratic Zeeman effect.Comment: 16 pages, 6 figure

    Attosecond spectroscopy reveals alignment dependent core-hole dynamics in the ICl molecule.

    The removal of electrons located in the core shells of molecules creates transient states that live between a few femtoseconds to attoseconds. Owing to these short lifetimes, time-resolved studies of these states are challenging and complex molecular dynamics driven solely by electronic correlation are difficult to observe. Here, we obtain few-femtosecond core-excited state lifetimes of iodine monochloride by using attosecond transient absorption on iodine 4d-16p transitions around 55 eV. Core-level ligand field splitting allows direct access of excited states aligned along and perpendicular to the ICl molecular axis. Lifetimes of 3.5 ± 0.4 fs and 4.3 ± 0.4 fs are obtained for core-hole states parallel to the bond and 6.5 ± 0.6 fs and 6.9 ± 0.6 fs for perpendicular states, while nuclear motion is essentially frozen on this timescale. Theory shows that the dramatic decrease of lifetime for core-vacancies parallel to the covalent bond is a manifestation of non-local interactions with the neighboring Cl atom of ICl

    Odd-frequency Pairs and Josephson Current through a Strong Ferromagnet

    We study Josephson current in superconductor / diffusive ferromagnet /superconductor junctions by using the recursive Green function method. When the exchange potential in a ferromagnet is sufficiently large as compared to the pair potential in a superconductor, an ensemble average of Josephson current is much smaller than its mesoscopic fluctuations. The Josephson current vanishes when the exchange potential is extremely large so that a ferromagnet is half-metallic. Spin-flip scattering at junction interfaces drastically changes the characteristic behavior of Josephson current. In addition to spin-singlet Cooper pairs, equal-spin triplet pairs penetrate into a half metal. Such equal-spin pairs have an unusual symmetry property called odd-frequency symmetry and carry the Josephson current through a half metal. The penetration of odd-frequency pairs into a half metal enhances the low energy quasiparticle density of states, which could be detected experimentally by scanning tunneling spectroscopy. We will also show that odd-frequency pairs in a half metal cause a nonmonotonic temperature dependence of the critical Josephson current.Comment: 12 pages 14 figures embedde

    Correlation between basic sanitary condition and Diarrhea with the water quality in Sukaraja Subdistrict Medan Maimun District 2012. Diarrhea on Deli river users was fairly high. The cause was suspected by unhealthy basic sanitation and people\u27s habits in using river water as water source. The study aimed to analyze the correlation between condition of basic sanitation and diarrheaon Deli river users and to know Deli water riverquality. The study was conducted by descriptive method with cross sectional study design. This research conducted along the riverside area of Deli on Sukaraja village Medan Maimun Sub District with 59 housewives sample.The result showed there was correlation between sanitation of water resources (p=0,024), family latrines (p=0,016), garbage disposal (p=0,045) and diarrhea, and there was no correlation between sanitation of waste water treatment (p=0,050) and diarrhea. From the results oflaboratory tests,river water quality in upstream area did not exceed the the specified threshold value, such as temperature, nitrate, selenium, and E. coli. According to PP no. 82 tahun 2001, while in middle and downstream area number of E. Coli was foundhad exceeded the specified threshold value. Based on the result of study, Deli river in middle and downstream area had contaminated by feces and there was a significant correlation betweenbasic sanitation and diarrhea.     Positions of Point-Nodes in Borocarbide Superconductor YNi2B2C

    To determine the superconducting gap function of YNi2B2C, we calculate the local density of states (LDOS) around a single vortex core with the use of Eilenberger theory and the band structure calculated by local density approximation assuming various gap structures with point-nodes at different positions. We also calculate the angular-dependent heat capacity in the vortex state on the basis of the Doppler-Shift method. Comparing our results with the STM/STS experiment, the angular-dependent heat capacity and thermal conductivity, we propose the gap-structure of YNi2B2C, which has the point-nodes and gap minima along . Our gap-structure is consistent with all results of angular-resolved experiments.Comment: 7 pages, 5 figure

    Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kinerja kelompok tani penerima bantuan PUAP, untuk menganalisis dampak PUAP terhadap kinerja Kelompok Tani penerima PUAP, untuk menganalisis dampak PUAP terhadap pendapatan USAha tani anggota Kelompok Tani di Desa Paluh Manan. Penentuan daerah penelitian dilakukan secara purposive (sengaja). Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode Simple Random Sampling yakni pengambilan sampel secara acak tanpa memperhatikan strata/tingkatan dalam anggota populasi. Adapun jumlah sampel sebanyak 47 petani padi sawah yang menerima bantuan dana PUAP. Metode analisis yang digunakan adalah metode Context, Input, Process, Prduct (CIPP) dan uji beda rata-rata berpasangan (Compare Means). Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan: kinerja kelompok tani penerima PUAP kurang berjalan dengan baik dan terdapat perbedaaan yang nyata antara kinerja sebelum dan sesudah mendapatkan bantuan PUAP dan terjadi penurunan pendapatan dari sebelum mendapatkan bantuan PUAP dan setelah mendapatkan bantuan PUAP
