Game-Theoretic based Power Allocation for a Full Duplex D2D Network

    Get PDF
International audienceThis paper tackles the power allocation optimization problem of a Full duplex(FD) D2D underlaying cellular network. In particular, we aim at providing a distributed power allocation algorithm for this type of network. Towards this end, first, we formulate the PA problem as a non-cooperative game in which each user decides how much power to transmit over its allocated channel to maximize its link's energy-efficiency (EE). Next, we show that this game admits a unique Nash equilibrium (NE) point which can be obtained through an iterative process. After that, we show that this iterative algorithm can be implemented in a fully distributed manner. Finally, we compare our proposed distributed algorithm with the conventional centralized algorithms and simulation results show the importance of the proposed solution

Economic and monetary consequences of Lebanese National debt

The Lebanese financial condition is miserable. The national debt to GDP is increasing to horrible levels, and the deficits in government is increasing and expected to increase in the subsequent years, the government spending is increasing without any deterrent in the time the revenues to the government are decreasing, the inflation rates are increasing and the economic growth is decreasing. The fallouts of these conditions have direct effect on Lebanese pound and threaten its value. With all the assures from Lebanese central bank governor and the financial officers, a prudent man can sense the risk that is coming on the Lebanese pound and never believe that the Lebanese pound will stay forever the mountain that never lean with wind. Lebanon must take rapid corrective actions to save the country and its currency from a disaster that would howl.Corrective actions of economic, financial, political, and direct reforms must be studied and activate it directly before the zero time comes and remorse will not benefit

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of non-tensile tunica albuginea plication (NTTAP) using nonabsorbable sutures for the correction of congenital and acquired penile curvature and to determine the key points for a successful outcome of this procedure. Patients and Methods: From June 2004 to July 2007, 43 patients with penile curvature (35 congenital and 8 secondary to Peyronie’s disease) underwent surgical correction by NTTAP. The indications were difficult or impossible vaginal penetration, and a cosmetically unacceptable penis. For tunica albuginea plication (TAP) we applied the 16 dot procedure using non-absorbable sutures (Tycron® 2/0 polyester fiber). Results: After a mean follow-up period of 18 months, successful results with respect to penile straightening, normal erection, penetration and sensation, confirmed both subjectively and objectively, were achieved in all patients. Post-operative penile shortening of less than 1.5 cmwas present in 50% of the cases, but did not affect intercourse. Post-operative complications were mild and reversible; they consisted of penile skin necrosis after circumcising incisions and post-operative pain upon nocturnal erection that subsided after a few weeks with the frequent use of ice compresses. The overall satisfaction rate was nearly 100% (35/43 very satisfied and 8/43 satisfied). Conclusion:NTTAP is a simple and effective method for the correction of congenital and acquired penile curvature. The key points for successful outcomes are: clear identification of the line of maximum curvature, adequate pre-operative evaluation, counseling of the patient to setappropriate expectations, and careful discussion of the location of the suture sites. There is no need for mobilization of the urethra or neurovascular bundle, which adds a great advantage to this easy and simple technique. Cutting through the tunica albuginea, which may prevent postoperative erectile dysfunction, is not necessary. A disadvantage of this procedure is that it cannot correct hour-glass deformity

HIV-Infected Children and Nutrition: The Friend and The Foe

    Get PDF
The impact of nutrition on HIV-infected children has been evaluated in multiple studies. Our review of the current trends of nutrition-related studies revealed that the focus has moved from simply the disease consequences of HIV to ensuring that antiretroviral therapy-treated children are well nourished to ensure growth and development. This update aims to present the state of the art regarding nutrition of HIV-infected children and the real potential for nutrition to serve as a dynamic therapy in this group. Recent World Health Organization reports indicate that the HIV/AIDS disease is curbing in incidence worldwide despite the high 1.8 million children, less than 15 years, reported in 2017. In addition, the literature supports the complexity and bidirectional relation between nutrition and HIV. HIV infection has a substantial effect on the nutritional status, in particular, the gastrointestinal side effects, which, in turn, have a profound impact on HIV infection. Advances in the field have transformed the course of the disease into a chronic illness, where more attention was given to lifestyle and quality of life including nutrition. However, achievement of food security, nutrition accessibility, and appropriate handling of nutrition-related complications of HIV infection are remarkable challenges, particularly, in resource poor environments, where most HIV infections exist
