    International Occupational Therapists Continuing Education Needs and Opportunities: A survey

    Occupational therapists (OTs) are expected to maintain up-to-date knowledge and clinical competence by engaging in continuing professional education (CPE). The objective of this research was to obtain information on CPE needs and opportunities in developed and developing countries. A survey was created and emailed to 520 OTs in various countries, asking questions about CPE requirements, opportunities, and the avenues of CPE available to OTs. One hundred-nineteen OTs from 17 different countries responded. Of the 119 OTs, 28 practice in developing countries and 91 practice in developed countries. Thirty-nine percent of the OTs in developing countries stated that they have certain requirements for CPE. In developed countries 73% of the OTs indicated such requirement were necessary to practice. In developed countries 67% of OTs reported that CPE was easily available, whereas in developing countries only 25% of OTs reported that CPE was easily available. Therapists in developed countries are more likely to participate in CPE activities, whereas their counterparts in developing countries are not. International OT stakeholders need to explore avenues to make CPE more available to OTs in developing countries and remote areas

    Development of dc-dc converter for dc motor using fuzzy logic controller

    When the DC motor is turned on, the start dc motor speed will experience overshoot at the starting speed of the motor. This overshoot will affect the current rise high as if connected to a load. The use of conventional controllers has long been used to control the dc motor and reduce overshoot starting. Fuzzy logic controller is one controller that can be used to control the speed of a dc motor including motor control overshoot starting. To see the effectiveness of fuzzy logic controller in dc motor speed control, a study done by designing a conventional two-Integrated controllers of proportional controller (PI) and proportional-Integrated-Derivatives controller (PID) and compared with fuzzy logic controller. The design of Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) does not require an exact mathematical model. Instead, it is design based on general knowledge of the plant. Both three controllers are connected to a dc motor as a load to control the motor speed to the required level. The effectiveness of the designed FLC is compared with designed conventional controllers to examine aspects of starting overshoot, settling time and ripple factor for dc motor speed

    Adaptation Test Of Sweet Potato (Ipomoea batatas L. (LAM)) Cilembu Variety In South Sumatra

    Adaptation Test of Sweet Potato (lpomoea batatas L. (Lam)) variety Cilembu in Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra was conducted to see if sweet potato var. Cilembu was planted in Ogan llir area is be able to form tubers and has a higher sugar content compared to local varieties in Ogan Ilir South Sumatra. This research was carried out in the Agroteknopark area located in the village Bakung, North Indralaya, Ogan Ilir, on April 2017 to September 2017. This study used a Randomized Block Design, consisting of four clones and six replications. To find out the differences in each variety, group comparison tests were carried out using the orthogonal contrast method. From the results of the study it can be concluded that the highest plant lenght of the local variety were obtained from the Purple variety. The highest plant length of Cilembu variety obtained from the Rancing variety. The highest diameter of tubers of Local variety plant was obtained from Orange variety 9.8 cm, while the highest diameter of Cilembu variety was 5.9 cm (Rancing variety). The highest weight of tubers from local varieties were obtained from Orange variety, namely 1.39 kg plant-1 or 34.79 tons ha-1. The highest  Cilembu varieties obtained from Rancing variety were 1.2 kg plant-1 or 21.67 tons ha-1, the highest weight of biomass per plant at the highest L vs C ratio was obtained from the Cilembu Rancing variety of 4.9 kg. On parameter of dry biomass weight, the higher L vs C ratio was obtained from the Cilembu Rancing variety which was 0.73 kg

    Masalah yang sering terjadi sekarang dalam matematika adalah bagaimana mengajar matematika menjadi lebih baik?, Mengajar hanya dengan berbicara bisa disebut dengan pendekatan tradisional dan tidak cukup lagi, karena pendekatan ini mengabaikan kemampuan kognitif dan perbaikan diri setiap siswa. Dalam konteks ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa kurang terlibat dalam proses pembelajaran yang menghubungkan gagasan atau ide-ide matematis siswa, Kemampuan representasi matematis adalah kemampuan dalam menyajikan ide-ide matematika dalam bentuk gambar, model matematika, serta teks tertulis dari suatu konsep atau permasalahan yang diberikan. Salah satu alternatif yang mampu mendukung upaya peningkatan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa, yaitu penerapan pendekatan metaphorical thinking. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah dengan penerapan pendekatan metaphorical thinking dapat meningkatkan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa. Pada penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif. Desain penelitian ini kuasi eksperimen jenis one-Group-Pretest-Postest. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII-1 yang terdiri 23 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes, sedangkan uji-t dengan bantuan SPSS 22 setelah data dikonversikan ke skala interval dengan bantuan MSI. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan pendekatan metaphorical thinking dapat meningkatkan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa pada kelas VIII MTsN 1 Aceh Besar. Hal ini dapat dilihat berdasarkan hipotesis, dengan taraf signifikan α = 0,05. Kriteria pengujian diperoleh 0,00<0,05. Berdasarkan kriteria pengambilan keputusannya, H_0 ditolak dan terima H1. Tingkat kemampuan representasi matematis siswa sebelum diberi perlakuan rata-rata persentasenya adalah 50% tergolong kategori rendah, akan tetapi setelah diberi perlakuan pada pembelajaran dengan menerapkan pendekatan metaphorical thinking kemampuan representasi matematis siswa mengalami peningkatan.     ABSTRACT The research was conducted  at fresh water swamp, tidal swamp and irrigated Rice field.Fresh water swamp and Tidal swamp located  countryside Betung, subdistrict Pulau Rimau  and  Sako, subdistrict Rambutan, Regency Musi Banyuasin. While irrigated lowland rice countryside at 0mangunhardjo, Subdistrict Purwodadi, Regency Musi Rawas, from June through October 2010.  The research was aimed to knowing and comprehend or understand  with  to decreased fluxe and emission methane produced and compared with three ecosystem lands  cultivated  S.R.I. The split plot design was appllied in the research. The treatment main plot consisted of  lowland rice  (T) with three factors: fresh water swamp (T1), Tidal swamp (T2) dan Irrigated rice field ( T3) and  sub plot  cultivated  (S) there were two factors: convensional (K) and  S.R.I (S).   The result showed that  the rice cultivated  S.R.I can  decreased of  flux methane  40-71% and  in the form of emission of gas metan one growing season plant may decrease 19-53 %. Being emang three ecosystem may decrease 61-66 %. Measurement of methane gases emission for the three ecosystem rice field to each other every a period of growth showed the declaned at the age 8 week after planting.     — Construction logistics plays as one of the important enablers to support rapid development and economy in Malaysia. Heavy trucks used in construction logistics provide the ability to move more and bigger materials for development and manufacturing. However, it caused many problems, particularly in safety aspects, to the community. Hence, it is crucial to investigate more on the safety measures practised in construction logistics activities to adopt the right safety guideline. Three objectives were established. Firstly, to investigate current state of construction logistics in Malaysia. The second objective is to determine the safety measures practised for construction logistics activities by using five indicators from construction safety and health programs: rules and regulations, communications, accident investigation, training and evaluation. Lastly, the objective is to recommend suggestion to improve current situation of construction logistics activities that possessed danger to communities. With extensive data collection, this study has succeeded in stipulating evidence to show: (1) lack of sterner enforcement to combat wrongdoings in construction logistics activities, (2) lack of communication and information sharing among stakeholders, from the authorities, industry players to the communities and (3) insufficient training for employees, particularly drivers. This research has also contributed to future safety performances in logistics company by providing a guideline to measure safety performance

    PENGARUH UPAH RIIL TERHADAP JUMLAH PENGANGGURAN DI ACEH

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh tingkat upah riil terhadap jumlah pengangguran di Aceh. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Aceh dengan menggunakan data sekunder periode 1997-2009 yang bersumber dari Bank Indonesia dan Badan Pusat Statistik Propinsi Aceh. Data dianalisis dengan pendekatan deskriptif dan kuantitatif melalui penyajian dan penyusunan data ke dalam tabel.Penelitian ini menggunakan model regresi linier sederhana. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa tingkat upah riil tidak berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap jumlah pengangguran di Aceh. Ini terbukti berdasarkan nilai t-hitung lebih kecil dari nilai t-tabel pada tingkat a=0,05. Akan tetapi signifikan pada tingkat keyakinan 60 persen. Model hasil regresi upah riil terhadap pengangguran di Aceh adalahU = 5,617 - 0,111 W. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa jumlah pengangguran di Aceh tidak mutlak dipengaruhi oleh tingkat upah riil. Oleh sebab itu,diharapkan pemerintah dapat menemukan penyebab utama pengangguran di Aceh.Penyelesaian masalah pengangguran harus menjadi prioritas pemerintah Aceh. Pemerintah juga diharap kan terus melakukan pemantauan yang terus menerus terhadap laju pertumbuhan penganguuran di Aceh
