    Stack-run adaptive wavelet image compression

    We report on the development of an adaptive wavelet image coder based on stack-run representation of the quantized coefficients. The coder works by selecting an optimal wavelet packet basis for the given image and encoding the quantization indices for significant coefficients and zero runs between coefficients using a 4-ary arithmetic coder. Due to the fact that our coder exploits the redundancies present within individual subbands, its addressing complexity is much lower than that of the wavelet zerotree coding algorithms. Experimental results show coding gains of up to 1:4dB over the benchmark wavelet coding algorithm

    Al-Kāshī, the first scientist who introduced dynamical system

    In 15th century, two renowned mathematicians, Ghiyāth al-Dīn Jamshīd Mas’ūd al-Kāshī (also known as Jamshīd Kāshānī; d. 1429) and his patron, Mīrzā Muhammad Tāraghay bin Shāhrukh (well known as Ulugh Beg; d. 1449) were able to calculate the sine and chord of one-third of an angle. With this, they successfully computed sine 1° to 17 correct decimal digits (ten correct sexagesimal places) by the invention of ingenious converging iteration algorithm. The iteration algorithm suggested by Al-Kāshī one can consider as pioneering dynamical system and Al-Kāshī himself can be considered as the initiator, pioneer of the theory of dynamical systems. In this paper we revise Al-Kāshī’s work on this computation of sine 1° using modern theory of dynamical systems. The main reference for this computation will be based on A Study of Risāla al-Watar wa’l Jaib (“The Treatise on the Chord and Sine”), written by Mohammad K. Azarian. In the end, we discuss the significance of this revision in the Islamic point of view

    Yusuf Al-Qaradawi Concept on Professional Zakat

    The research findings show that Yusuf al-Qaradawi views the management of zakat on profession as a general ruling, istinba aw, qiyas, a part of the principles of justice and principles of benefit  (maqasidal-syariah). Besides, the findings indicate that the historical aspect of zakat on profession (Asar) refers to the zakat management practised in the era of Companions of the Prophet (pbuh), Tabi’in and Tabi’-tabi’in. The next sub discussion is about zakat collection method. The research findings reveal that Yusuf al-Qaradawi prefers to use gold as the parameter for the calculation of zakat on profession (85 grams). Zakat quantity is derived from the amount of asset after being reduced by the primary needs of a muzakki and their dependants as well as the due debts. Moreover, according to Yusuf al-Qaradawi, haul (a span of one year) is not necessarily a mandatory requirement. In this case, he bases his arguments on the practices of some of the Companions of the Prophet (pbuh) such as Umar ibn Khattab, Mu’awiyahbi Abi Sufyan, Ibnu Mas’ud, and tabi’ insuch as Umar ibn Abdul Aziz, as well as the statements of tabi’ tabi’in such as Ahmad bin Hanbal and Abu Hanifah. Therefore, Yusuf al-Qaradawi argues that the zakat on profession is as much as 2.5% from total income

     This research was motivated by the illness of 436 Election organizers and the death of 6 Ad Hoc Organizers in Southeast Sulawesi. To reveal this, the study was designed which is a mix method approach. The data collection technique was carried out by distributing questionnaires to respondents with a multi-stage random sampling technique. The results showed the Ad Hoc Organizing Body at the 2019 General Elections in Southeast Sulawesi carried out all stages of the holding of the 2019 General Elections in accordance with their duties and authorities as stipulated in the regulations. The recruitment pattern of the Ad Hoc Organizing Body in Southeast Sulawesi has done openly, independently, fulfilling the physical and mental health requirements and has knowledge about electoral, so the results of the research show the Ad Hoc Organizing Agency in Southeast Sulawesi has been tasked with working independently, with integrity and professionalism. The objective condition of the workload of the Ad Hoc Administration Agency in Southeast Sulawesi, in general, the stages of election activities that are felt to be very burdensome are related to the calculation of election results and the collection of voter lists. Both of these things, the organizers need extra energy to complete the task on time and accurately. The heavy workload caused the election organizers to be sick and some died

    A bayesian via laplace approximation on log-gamma model with censored data

    Log-gamma distribution is the extension of gamma distribution which is more flexible, versatile and provides a great fit to some skewed and censored data. Problem/Objective: In this paper we introduce a solution to closed forms of its survival function of the model which shows the suitability and flexibility towards modelling real life data. Methods/Analysis: Alternatively, Bayesian estimation by MCMC simulation using the Random-walk Metropolis algorithm was applied, using AIC and BIC comparison makes it the smallest and great choice for fitting the survival models and simulations by Markov Chain Monte Carlo Methods. Findings/Conclusion: It shows that this procedure and methods are better option in modelling Bayesian regression and survival/reliability analysis integrations in applied statistics, which based on the comparison criterion log-gamma model have the least values. However, the results of the censored data have been clarified with the simulation results

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis pengaruh faktor Pendidikan, Pelatihan tehnis dan Pelatihan StrukturalTerhadap Kinerja Account Representative Pada Kantor Pelayanan PajakMadya Makassar Populasi yang dijadikan sebagai target penelitian ini adalah pihak pihak yang terkait dengan kinerja Pada Kantor Pelayanan Pajak Madya Makassar .sejumlahnya 56 orang, dan seluruhnya menjadi responden dengan menggunakan model analisis regresi linear Berganda. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa semua variabel, yakni: Pendidikan, Pelatihan tehnis dan Pelatihan Struktural memiliki pengaruh yang positif dan signifikan secara simultan terhadap prestasi kerja karyawan pada Kantor Pelayanan Pajak Madya Makassar. Sedang secara parsial ditemukan bahwa faktor Pendidikan yang memiliki pengaruh signifikan yang paling dominan terhadap Kinerja Account Representative pada Kantor Pelayanan Pajak Madya Makassar. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut, penulis menyarankan bahwa pemerintah dalam hal ini Kantor Pelayanan Pajak Madya Makassar dapat lebih memperhatikan faktor yang dapat mendorong kinerja seperti pemberian motivasi dan memberi kesempatan Studi lanjut yang dapat lebih merangsang pegawai untuk bekerja dengan lebih baik lagi.     Extension of Tukey's smoothing techniques

    Tukey introduced a resistant smoothing technique which uses running medians but there is a lack of mathematics generalization. Tukey used examples and exhibited an approach in the statistics field called exploratory data analysis. The proposed technique is hereby presented in mathematical equation form and named symmetric running medians. Subsequently, the symmetric running median technique is extended into the right running median technique. A comparison of the symmetric and the right running medians are made by box plot and contour plot. A generalization of mathematical forms is established for Tukey’s smoothing techniques. The extension with the generalization of mathematical forms are shown that they can be applied successfully as a practical smoothing procedure in statistical smoothing field and are also computationally efficient. The methods of smoothing are practically applied to daily Farmer Mac data
