Nanolithography for metallic quasi crystals for nanobio applications
There is currently an urgent need to develop micro and nanotechnique for the fabrications of quasi periodic crystals in a plane for the study and applications of novel optical properties when light propagating in or through such a photonic structures with fold symmetries (10 fold symmetry in this work). It has been clear that quasi periodical crystals in dielectrics with various fold symmetries also exhibits complete photonic band gap (PBG) property as periodical photonic crystals do. However, the novel physical properties related to the interactions of electromagnetic waves with metallic holes arrays in quasi periodical order (metallic quasi crystals) is being discovered both theoretically and experimentally, which demands technical development for the construction of theoretically designed structures. [1] In this work, we report a nanofabrication technique recently developed for the replication of quasi crystal in 100 nm Al on a slab (quartz wafer in this work) by electron beam lithography using chemically amplified resist, UVN-30. Tuning the magnetic and structural phase transitions of PrFeAsO via Fe/Ru spin dilution
Neutron diffraction and muon spin relaxation measurements are used to obtain
a detailed phase diagram of Pr(Fe,Ru)AsO. The isoelectronic substitution of Ru
for Fe acts effectively as spin dilution, suppressing both the structural and
magnetic phase transitions. The temperature of the tetragonal-orthorhombic
structural phase transition decreases gradually as a function of x. Slightly
below the transition temperature coherent precessions of the muon spin are
observed corresponding to static magnetism, possibly reflecting a significant
magneto-elastic coupling in the FeAs layers. Short range order in both the Fe
and Pr moments persists for higher levels of x. The static magnetic moments
disappear at a concentration coincident with that expected for percolation of
the J1-J2 square lattice model
Dualisation of the D=7 Heterotic String
The dualisation and the first-order formulation of the D=7 abelian Yang-Mills
supergravity which is the low energy effective limit of the D=7 fully Higssed
heterotic string is discussed. The non-linear coset formulation of the scalars
is enlarged to include the entire bosonic sector by introducing dual fields and
by constructing the Lie superalgebra which generates the dualized coset

Climate change impacts in agricultural communities in rural areas of coastal bangladesh: A tale of many stories
This paper identifies and analyses climate change impacts, their cascading consequences and the livelihood implications of these impacts on smallholder agricultural communities of coastal Bangladesh. Six physically and socio-economically vulnerable communities of south-western coastal regions were studied. Primary data was collected through focus group discussions, a seasonal calendar, and historical transect analysis. Three orders of impacts of climate change on smallholder farmers are identified and described. The first order impacts involve increasing erosion of the capacity of local communities to mitigate vulnerability to climate change impacts. This situation led to the second order impacts, which significantly transformed the agricultural landscape and production patterns. The cumulative effects of the first and second order impacts sparked the third order impacts in the form of worsening community livelihood assets and conditions. The findings of this paper can contribute to the formulation of sustainable adaptation policies and programs to manage the vulnerability of local communities to climate change impacts in the country effectively
On dilaton dependence of type II superstring action
The supersymmetric action of type IIA D=10 superstring in N=2a, D=10
supergravity background can be derived by double dimensional reduction of the
action of supermembrane coupled to D=11 supergravity. We demonstrate that the
background Ramond-Ramond fields appear in the resulting superstring action with
