Resonant UPS topologies for the emerging hybrid fiber coaxial networks

Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems have been extensively applied to feed critical loads in many areas. Typical examples of critical loads include life-support equipment, computers and telecommunication systems. Although all UPS systems have a common purpose to provide continuous power-to critical loads, the emerging hybrid fiber-coaxial networks have created the need for specific types of UPS topologies. For example, galvanic isolation for the load and the battery, small size, high input power factor, and trapezoidal output voltage waveforms are among the required features of UPS topologies for hybrid fiber-coaxial networks. None of the conventional UPS topologies meet all these requirements. Consequently. this thesis is directed towards the design and analysis of UPS topologies for this new application. Novel UPS topologies are proposed and control techniques are developed to allow operation at high switching frequencies without penalizing the converter efficiency. By the use of resonant converters in the proposed UPS topologies. a high input power factor is achieved without requiring a dedicated power factor correction stage. In addition, a self-sustained oscillation control method is proposed to ensure soft switching under all operating conditions. A detailed analytical treatment of the resonant converters in the proposed UPS topologies is presented and design procedures illustrated. Simulation and experimental results are presented to validate the analyses and to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed schemes

Gerações Y e Z: um estudo sobre elementos que geram o seu engajamento no trabalho

Pesquisa sem auxílio de agências de fomentoTrabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação)Como objetivo deste estudo, pretendeu-se examinar qual a relação das gerações Y e Z com o trabalho e quais elementos criam ou fortalecem seu engajamento nesse contexto. Para isso, foi utilizada uma abordagem qualitativa por meio de entrevistas com seis profissionais pertencentes a essas gerações. Pelos resultados, constata-se que a geração Z, desde o início de sua carreira, tem maior conexão pessoal com seu trabalho, indo além da função pragmática do trabalho como forma de sustento financeiro. Já a geração Y, conforme os resultados do estudo, começou a ter esse olhar alguns anos após suas primeiras experiências profissionais, passando, então, a ter uma visão similar à da geração Z. Com essa nova perspectiva em relação ao trabalho, os aspectos responsáveis pelo engajamento de cada um dos participantes da pesquisa foram identificados como aspectos únicos e que podem variar de acordo com cada pessoa, não sendo possível definir critérios gerais sobre o engajamento para uma geração como um todo. Com isso, cabe às organizações e às suas lideranças a análise individual de seus colaboradores a fim de identificar quais aspectos fazem mais sentido para engajá-los em suas atividades de trabalho

O Convênio entre a Université de la Mode e o Curso de Estilismo e Moda da Universidade Federal do Ceará

Por meio de um relato de experiência, tratamos do resgate da memória do convênio entre o primeiro curso de moda em uma universidade federal, o curso de Estilismo e Moda (CEM) da UFC e a Université de la Mode, filiada à Universidade Lumière Lyon 2, na França. Para discorremos sobre esse processo, mostramos como se deu o convênio, os apoiadores, as missões realizadas pelos docentes participantes, as dificuldades que ocorreram, a importância dos estágios e, por fim, consideramos a situação de inatividade que se encontra atualmente o convênio

Verbreitung und Abundanz von Beta patula Aiton und anderen mit Kulturrüben verwandten Wildarten auf Madeira

In the Archipelago of Madeira four crop wild relatives of beets are native: Beta patula, Beta vulgaris subsp. maritima, Patellifolia procumbens, and Patellifolia patellaris. All species are valuable genetic resources for the sugar beet breeding. Only in the very eastern part of the Madeira Island on the islet Ilhéu do Desembarcadouro and Ilhéu Chão the endemic species Beta patula can be found. On both islets the plant number of this very rare species, and of the two widely distributed species B. vulgaris subsp. maritima and P. procumbens was established and the habitat described. The results of the species census are presented. The establishment of a genetic reserve for Beta patula is suggested in this paper with the objective to protect this species more effectively.Auf Madeira und benachbarten Inseln sind vier mit Kulturrüben verwandte Wildarten heimisch: Beta patula, Beta vulgaris subsp. maritima, Patellifolia procumbens, and Patellifolia patellaris. Alle Arten sind wertvolle genetische Ressourcen für die Zuckerrübenzüchtung. Die endemische Art Beta patula kommt nur im östlichen Teil von Madeira auf den Schären Ilhéu do Desembarcadouro und Ilhéu Chão vor. Auf beiden Schären wurde die Anzahl der Individuen dieser sehr seltenen Art sowie von zwei weiter verbreiteten Arten, B. vulgaris subsp. maritima und P. procumbens, ermittelt und ihr Lebensraum beschrieben. Die Einrichtung eines genetischen Schutzgebietes für Beta patula wird in diesem Beitrag vorgeschlagen, um diese Art effektiver schützen zu können.PNM (Parque Natural da Madeira), Dra.
