Impact of different Agents on the Efficacy of Codling Moth Granulovirus in Tank Mixtures
In the control of codling moth it is common to combine the granulovirus with other agents,
especially fungicides, in spray application. Therefore the knowledge about the influence of
these agents on the efficacy of the virus in tank mix is very important. Studies on this
subject were part of a project supported by BMELV (German Federal Ministry for Food,
Agriculture and Consumer protection) at the Institute for Biological Control of JKI in
Darmstadt.
The granulovirus of Cydia pomonella (L.) (CpGV) was mixed with 10 different agents at
concentrations as applied in the field. After the exposure the virus activity was calculated
from larval mortality determined in bioassays with neonates of a susceptible codling moth
strain.
Only two agents with a pH of 11 (sodium silicate (water glass) and calcium polysulfide
(lime sulphur)) reduced the virulence of CpGV significantly
Block-Transitive Designs in Affine Spaces
This paper deals with block-transitive - designs in affine
spaces for large , with a focus on the important index case. We
prove that there are no non-trivial 5- designs admitting a
block-transitive group of automorphisms that is of affine type. Moreover, we
show that the corresponding non-existence result holds for 4- designs,
except possibly when the group is one-dimensional affine. Our approach involves

Resolving Octant Degeneracy at LBL experiment by combining Daya Bay Reactor Setup
Long baseline Experiment (LBL) have promised to be a very powerful
experimental set up to study various issues related to Neutrinos. Some ongoing
and planned LBL and medium baseline experiments are - T2K, MINOS, NOvA, LBNE,
LBNO etc. But the long baseline experiments are crippled due to presence of
some parameter degeneracies, like the Octant degeneracy. In this work, we first
show the presence of Octant degeneracy in LBL experiments, and then combine it
with Daya Bay Reactor experiment, at different values of CP violation phase. We
show that the Octant degeneracy in LBNE can be resolved completely with this

Interplay between nanometer-scale strain variations and externally applied strain in graphene
We present a molecular modeling study analyzing nanometer-scale strain
variations in graphene as a function of externally applied tensile strain. We
consider two different mechanisms that could underlie nanometer-scale strain
variations: static perturbations from lattice imperfections of an underlying
substrate and thermal fluctuations. For both cases we observe a decrease in the
out-of-plane atomic displacements with increasing strain, which is accompanied
by an increase in the in-plane displacements. Reflecting the non-linear elastic
properties of graphene, both trends together yield a non-monotonic variation of
the total displacements with increasing tensile strain. This variation allows
to test the role of nanometer-scale strain variations in limiting the carrier
mobility of high-quality graphene samples
Numerical Approach to Multi Dimensional Phase Transitions
We present an algorithm to analyze numerically the bounce solution of
first-order phase transitions. Our approach is well suited to treat phase
transitions with several fields. The algorithm consists of two parts. In the
first part the bounce solution without damping is determined, in which case
energy is conserved. In the second part the continuation to the physically
relevant case with damping is performed. The presented approach is numerically
