Long-time states of inverse cascades in the presence of a maximum length scale

    Get PDF
It is shown numerically, both for the two-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations and for two-dimensional magnetohydrodynamics, that the long-time asymptotic state in a forced inverse-cascade situation is one in which the spectrum is completely dominated by its own fundamental. The growth continues until the fundamental is dissipatively limited by its own dissipation rate. An algebraic model is proposed for the dynamics of such a final state

Scaling of anisotropy in hydromagnetic turbulence

    Get PDF
We present evidence that anisotropy of low frequency plasma turbulence scales linearly with the ratio of fluctuating to total magnetic field strength for a useful range of parameters, for incompressible, weakly compressible, and driven magnetohydrodynamic turbulence

Social Network Analysis and Organizational Disintegration: The Case of Enron Corporation

    Get PDF
Email networks in contemporary organizations are fairly representative of the underlying communications networks. We show that changes in communication networks have implications for studying organization disintegration. In this paper, we analyzed the changing communication network structure at Enron Corporation during the period of its disintegration (2000-2001). Our goal was to understand how communication patterns and structure were affected by organizational disintegration. Drawing on (social) network disintegration theory, we tested several propositions using the Enron email corpus: (1) Number of cliques increases (2) Communication network becomes increasingly centralized, and (3) Connectedness among the top management executives increases, as organizations move towards disintegration. The results of the tests and their implications are discussed.link_to_subscribed_fulltex

Population Growth and Economic Development in Bangladesh: Revisited Malthus

    Get PDF
Bangladesh is the 2nd largest growing country in the world in 2016 with 7.1% GDP growth. This study undertakes an econometric analysis to examine the relationship between population growth and economic development. This result indicates population growth adversely related to per capita GDP growth, which means rapid population growth is a real problem for the development of Bangladesh.Comment: Working Pape

UNDERSTANDING COMMUNICATION NETWORK COHESIVENESS DURING ORGANIZATIONAL CRISIS: EFFECTS OF CLIQUE AND TRANSITIVITY

    Get PDF
Various terms such as organizational mortality, organizational death, bankruptcy, decline, retrenchment and failure have been used in the literature to characterize different forms and facets of organizational crisis. Communication network studies have typically focused on nodes (individuals or organizations), relationships between those nodes, and subsequent affects of these relationships upon the network as a whole. Email networks in contemporary organizations are fairly representative of the underlying communications networks. We show that changes in communication networks and its associated group cohesiveness have implications for studying organizational crisis. In this paper, we analyze the changing communication network structure at Enron Corporation during the period of its crisis (2000-2001). Our goal was to understand how communication patterns and structure were affected by organizational crisis. Drawing on communication network crisis and group cohesiveness theory, we tested several propositions using the Enron email corpus: (1) Number of cliques increases, and (2) Communication network becomes increasingly transitive as organizations experience crisis. The results of the tests and their implications are discussed in this paper

Towards A Scale Free Network Approach to Study Organizational Communication Network

    Get PDF
In this experiment, we study the scale free network property of an organizational communication network. We used social network analysis methods during organizational crisis period that captures the dynamics of communication networks. We did not find any significant fluctuation between the actor prominence in daily and aggregated networks. We found that email communication network displays a high degree of scale free behavior described by power law

External Public Debt and Economic Growth in Bangladesh: A Co-Integration Analysis

    Get PDF
External Debt (ED) is considered as a significant source of income for developing countries. Bangladesh relied on foreign debt to finance its balance of payments deficit and saving investment gap.  This paper tried to investigate the impact of foreign debt on growth in Bangladesh. Rudimentary objective of this paper is to explore the relationship between external debt and Gross Domestic Products in Bangladesh for the period of 1972-2012, using time series econometric technique. We took a point of glance of external debt and economic performance of Bangladesh. The results show that there is a significant adverse effect of debt on growth in Bangladesh. The empirical results suggest the existence of long-run relationship between GDP and ED.  In Bangladesh External debt service is a burden for its nation that makes the GDP slows down. This study recommended that Bangladesh have to figure out the option of debt cancellation and focus on to increase human development as well as infrastructure development. Debt management should be effective, fair,.  Exports, FDI and . Remittances are the key element for the economic growth of Bangladesh and effective, fair debt management are recommended according to the research findings. Keywords: External Debt (ED), Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Unit Root, Granger Causality, Johansen Co- integration. Remittanc

Design and characterization of frequency reconfigurable honey bee antenna for cognitive radio application

    Get PDF
In this article, a frequency reconfigurable honey-bee compact microstrip monopole antenna is proposed which is fed by a microstrip line (50 Ω) having the capability of providing dual-band as well as triple-band operation in eight distinct modes. By embedding three PIN diodes overs the honey bee arms, the effective current distribution is controlled hence resonant frequency is also changed in eight distinct modes in real-time. This is the reason the proposed antenna is portrayed as a frequency reconfigurable antenna in this paper which is suitable for cognitive radio application. This proposed antenna can be used for various wireless application such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX), wireless local area network (WLAN), C-band, and X-band applications. The proposed antenna possesses a planner geometry of 39×34×0.87 mm3 which is printed on a substrate as flexible FR-4 (lossy) (εr=4.4 and tanδ=0.019). The proposed antenna exhibits voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR)<2 for all 19 resonant frequencies of interest and perceptible radiation pattern over entire frequency bands with a positive gain. CST microwave studio is used to find out all simulated results of antenna parameters
