A non-local, Lorentz-invariant, hidden-variable interpretation of relativistic quantum mechanics based on particle trajectories
We demonstrate how to construct a lorentz-invariant, hidden-variable
interpretation of relativistic quantum mechanics based on particle
trajectories. The covariant theory that we propose employs a multi-time
formalism and a lorentz-invariant rule for the coordination of the space-time
points on the individual particle trajectories. In this way we show that there
is no contradiction between nonlocality and lorentz invariance in quantum
mechanics. The approach is illustrated for relativistic bosons, using a simple
model to discuss the individual non-locally correlated particle motion which
ensues when the wavefunction is entangled. A simple example of measurement is

Mortality associated with avian reovirus infection in a free-living magpie (Pica pica) in Great Britain
Avian reoviruses (ARVs) cause a range of disease presentations in domestic, captive and free-living bird species. ARVs have been reported as a cause of significant disease and mortality in free-living corvid species in North America and continental Europe. Until this report, there have been no confirmed cases of ARV-associated disease in British wild birds
Measurement of neutrino oscillation with KamLAND: Evidence of spectral distortion
We present results of a study of neutrino oscillation based on a 766 ton/year exposure of KamLAND to reactor antineutrinos. We observe 258 v_e candidate events with energies above 3.4 MeV compared to 365.2±23.7 events expected in the absence of neutrino oscillation. Accounting for 17.8±7.3 expected background events, the statistical significance for reactor v_e over bar (e) disappearance is 99.998%. The observed energy spectrum disagrees with the expected spectral shape in the absence of neutrino oscillation at 99.6% significance and prefers the distortion expected from v_e oscillation effects. A two-neutrino oscillation analysis of the KamLAND data gives Δm^2=7.9_(-0.5)^(+0.6)x10^(-5) eV^2. A global analysis of data from KamLAND and solar-neutrino experiments yields
Δm^2=7.9_(-0.5)^(+0.6)x10^(-5) eV^2 and tan^2θ=0.40_(-0.07)^(+0.10), the most precise determination to date
A relativistically covariant version of Bohm's quantum field theory for the scalar field
We give a relativistically covariant, wave-functional formulation of Bohm's
quantum field theory for the scalar field based on a general foliation of
space-time by space-like hypersurfaces. The wave functional, which guides the
evolution of the field, is space-time-foliation independent but the field
itself is not. Hence, in order to have a theory in which the field may be
considered a beable, some extra rule must be given to determine the foliation.
We suggest one such rule based on the eigen vectors of the energy-momentum

Identification of a Candidate CD5 Homologue in the Amphibian Xenopus laevis
We identified a novel T cell Ag in the South African clawed toad (Xenopus laevis) by a mAb designated 2B1. This Ag is present in relatively high levels on most thymocytes, approximately 65% of splenocytes, 55% of PBL, and 65% of intestinal lymphocytes, but is rarely seen on IgM+ B cells in any of these tissues. Lymphocytes bearing the 2B1 Ag proliferate in response to stimulation with Con A or PHA, whereas the 2B1- lymphocytes are reactive to LPS. Biochemical analysis indicates that this Ag is a differentially phosphorylated glycoprotein of 71 to 82 kDa. The protein core of 64 kDa bears both N- and O-linked carbohydrate side chains. The amino-terminal protein sequence of the 2B1 Ag shares significant homology with both the macrophage scavenger receptor type 1 motif and the mammalian CD5/CD6 family. The biochemical characteristics and cellular distribution of the 2B1 Ag suggest that it represents the CD5 homologue in X. laevis. While T cells constitutively express this highly conserved molecule, Xenopus B cells acquire the CD5 homologue only when they are stimulated in the presence of T cell
High Sensitivity Search for v_e’s from the Sun and Other Sources at KamLAND
Data corresponding to a KamLAND detector exposure of 0.28 kton yr has been used to search for ν̅ _e’s in the energy range 8.3 < E_(ν̅e) < 14.8  MeV. No candidates were found for an expected background of 1.1±0.4 events. This result can be used to obtain a limit on ν̅_e fluxes of any origin. Assuming that all ν̅_e flux has its origin in the Sun and has the characteristic ^8B solar ν_e energy spectrum, we obtain an upper limit of 3.7×10^2  cm^(-2) ^(s-1) (90% C.L.) on the ν̅_e flux. We interpret this limit, corresponding to 2.8×10^(-4) of the standard solar model ^8B ν_e flux, in the framework of spin-flavor precession and neutrino decay models

propnet: A Knowledge Graph for Materials Science
Discovering the ideal material for a new application involves determining its numerous properties, such as electronic, mechanical, or thermodynamic, to match those of its desired application. The rise of high-throughput computation has meant that large databases of material properties are now accessible to scientists. However, these databases contain far more information than might appear at first glance, since many relationships exist in the materials science literature to derive, or at least approximate, additional properties. propnet is a new computational framework designed to help scientists to automatically calculate additional information from their datasets. It does this by constructing a network graph of relationships between different materials properties and traversing this graph. Initially, propnet contains a catalog of over 100 property relationships but the hope is for this to expand significantly in the future, and contributions from the community are welcomed

The Walk-in Counselling Model of Service Delivery: Who Benefits Most?
The walk-in counselling (WIC) model of service delivery has been found to reduce psychological distress more quickly than a traditional model of service delivery involving a wait list. A question remains, however, as to the relative benefit of the WIC model for different client groups. The present study uses graphical inspection and multilevel modeling to conduct moderator analyses comparing two agencies, one with a WIC clinic and the other with a traditional wait list approach, and their relative impact on psychological distress. Key findings regarding the differential benefits for different types of presenting problems as well as clients at different stages of change are discussed.

Les bénéfices relatifs du modèle de consultation sans rendez-vous pour différentes clientèles demeurent cependant méconnus. Cette étude utilise l\u27inspection de graphiques et la modélisation multiniveau afin de mener une analyse de modération qui compare deux cliniques: sans rendez-vous ou suivant le modèle traditionnel avec liste d\u27attente. L\u27étude examine les impacts relatifs de ces modèles sur la détresse psychologique.
