    Identity And Public History

    Get PDF
This paper considers the creation of identity and self through interaction with museums. By understanding whether there is a correlation between how someone views themselves and their placement within society and the national narrative, consideration of alternative actions in combating social issues is possible. Likewise, through this knowledge, there is the potential for museums and public spaces to become of greater interest as places where topics relating to social concerns are presented and discussed. A qualitative research method was used to gather evidence of the correlation between identity and museums and revealed a relationship between identity and self-understanding and museum interactions

Glymbaxi: A New Drug Designed to Assist Type 2 Diabetes Patients with Glycemic Control

    Get PDF
Glymbasi is a drug designed from empagliflozin and linagliptin, two well-known and used antidiabetic drugs used to treat type-2 diabetes. This newly designed drug combines the two mechanisms of these drugs to co-administer simultaneous glycemic control on all fronts to provide a more effective and efficient treatment for type 2 diabetics . Glyxambi was created by combining appropriate dosages of emagliflozin and linagliptin into a single tablet for once daily use. This drug is now available for physicians to administer to their patients because companies such as BIPI and Eli Lilly have pooled their resources to provide more effective treatment options for this disease

    Robust Software

Agents offer a convenient level of granularity at which to add redundancy a key factor in developing robust software. Blindly adding code introduces more errors, makes the system more complex, and renders it harder to understand. However, adding more code can make software better, if it is added in the right way. As this article describes, the key concepts appear to be redundancy and the appropriate granularity

Project Rafiki: Consumer and Provider Perspectives on Food Assistance and its Impact on Quality of Life for Individuals Living with HIV/AIDS

    Get PDF
Project Rafiki was designed to provide nonperishable food assistance to individuals living with HIV/AIDS in Tanzania, East Africa. The research study was developed to examine the extent to which the Project Rafiki food assistance program had impacted its participants over the course of one year. The aim of this research can be divided into five smaller objectives: 1) to gage the effectiveness of the food assistance program; 2) to assist in the expansion of inter-professional knowledge of resource-development regarding health and nutrition for vulnerable communities or rural areas; 3) to involve and immerse students in learning on a global level; 4) to grow and develop cross-cultural collaborations; and 5) to improve the health and well-being of individuals living with HIV/AIDS. This study focuses on discussing whether the implementation of Project Rafiki made a difference, and to what extent, to the target population. Overall it is the research team’s aim to study the benefits and challenges of Project Rafiki in order to improve, sustain, and replicate the program in global communities. The goal is to be able to share findings, with the purpose of hopefully creating more and similar sustainable food assistance programs in order to assist people living with HIV/AIDS both in America and outside of the country. The project aims to utilize the pilot data that was collected in Tanzania to build a foundation for future studies in this area

Rakentamisen aikana syntyy uusia työpaikkoja useille rakentamisen alihankintaketjun toimialoille. Uusien työpaikkojen määrä on korkein moduulivaihtoehdossa (8,0). Seuraavana on puusta rakentaminen, joka tuo 6,8 uutta työpaikkaa. Betonivaihtoehto tuo vähiten 5,8, uutta työpaikkaa. Tutkimuksen johtopäätös on, että päiväkodin rakentaminen on aluetalouden kannalta myönteinen asia elintasolla ja työllisyydellä mitattuna. Päiväkodin rakentaminen käyttäen mahdollisimman paljon paikallisia puumateriaaleja toisi yhden työpaikan enemmän kuin jos käytettäisiin puun lisäksi soveltuvin osin betonia

    内皮細胞におけるHrt転写調節因子の血管形態形成に対する意義

The Hairy-related transcription factor family of Notch- and ALK1-downstream transcriptional repressors, called Hrt/Hey/Hesr/Chf/Herp/Gridlock, has complementary and indispensable functions for vascular development. While mouse embryos null for either Hrt1/Hey1 or Hrt2/Hey2 did not show early vascular phenotypes, Hrt1/Hey1; Hrt2/Hey2 double null mice (H1ko/H2ko) showed embryonic lethality with severe impairment of vascular morphogenesis. It remained unclear, however, whether Hrt/Hey functions are required in endothelial cells or vascular smooth muscle cells. In this study, we demonstrate that mice with endothelial-specific deletion of Hrt2/Hey2 combined with global Hrt1/Hey1 deletion (H1ko/H2eko) show abnormal vascular morphogenesis and embryonic lethality. Their defects were characterized by the failure of vascular network formation in the yolk sac, abnormalities of embryonic vascular structures and impaired smooth muscle cell recruitment, and were virtually identical to the H1ko/H2ko phenotypes. Among signaling molecules implicated in vascular development, Robo4 expression was significantly increased and activation of Src family kinases was suppressed in endothelial cells of H1ko/H2eko embryos. The present study indicates an important role of Hrt1/Hey1 and Hrt2/Hey2 in endothelial cells during early vascular development, and further suggests involvement of Robo4 and Src family kinases in the mechanisms of embryonic vascular defects caused by the Hrt/Hey deficiency.博士(医学)・乙第1352号・平成27年3月16日© 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.発行元が定める登録猶予期間終了の後、本文を登録予定(2015.11

Label-Free Time-Gated Luminescent Detection Method for the Nucleotides with Varying Phosphate Content

    Get PDF
A new label-free molecular probe for luminescent nucleotide detection in neutral aqueous solution is presented. Phosphate-containing molecules, such as nucleotides possess vital role in cell metabolism, energy economy, and various signaling processes. Thus, the monitoring of nucleotide concentration and nucleotide related enzymatic reactions is of high importance. Two component lanthanide complex formed from Tb(III) ion carrier and light harvesting antenna, readily distinguishes nucleotides containing different number of phosphates and enable direct detection of enzymatic reactions converting nucleotide triphosphate (NTP) to nucleotide di/monophosphate or the opposite. Developed sensor enables the detection of enzymatic activity with a low nanomolar sensitivity, as highlighted with K-Ras and apyrase enzymes in their hydrolysis assays performed in a high throughput screening compatible 384-well plate format.</p
