The low-incidence disability of visual impairment has led to many challenges in the field of education. The present study compared school related issues of adolescents with a visual impairment and their parents to adolescents who do not have a visual impairment and their parents. The purpose of this study was to examine the perspectives of students with a visual impairment and their parents to determine the level of satisfaction of the education the students are receiving. A sample of n = 180 parents and 10th grade students were used to answer the questions regarding various factors of education. The predicted outcome will be that overall parents are satisfied with their childâs education but will have negative feelings regarding the quality of education. It is also predicted that the students with a visual impairment will have similar feelings regarding education. Article visualizations

Willingness to pay for reintroducing wolves in a divided voting base
Wolves will soon be reintroduced in Colorado based on a statewide ballot initiative that narrowly passed in November 2020. Using an economic choice experiment, we estimate the benefits that wolf introduction might bring to Colorado. We calculated willingness to pay (WTP) for a sustainable wolf population by considering six program attributes: 1) state wolf population, 2) compensation for livestock-related losses, 3) cost-sharing for conflict reduction, 4) number of livestock killed statewide, 5) lethal government control of wolves, and 6) wolf hunting. Respondents who reported they voted yes on the ballot initiative had a positive WTP for a population of 200 wolves, referred to as the minimum sustainable population in the survey, but WTP diminished for larger populations. Preferences for a population of 200 wolves amounts to an annual WTP of approximately 115 million statewide among yes-voting households. We estimated a 1 benefit-cost ratio for a sustainable wolf population. However, benefits and costs are not evenly distributed across urban and rural residents, which suggests that mechanisms to transfer resources from those willing to pay to those that incur costs would be needed to balance that distribution
RCS2 J232727.6-020437: An Efficient Cosmic Telescope at
We present a detailed gravitational lens model of the galaxy cluster RCS2
J232727.6-020437. Due to cosmological dimming of cluster members and ICL, its
high redshift () makes it ideal for studying background galaxies.
Using new ACS and WFC3/IR HST data, we identify 16 multiple images. From
MOSFIRE follow up, we identify a strong emission line in the spectrum of one
multiple image, likely confirming the redshift of that system to .
With a highly magnified () source plane area of
arcmin at , RCS2 J232727.6-020437 has a lensing efficiency comparable
to the Hubble Frontier Fields clusters. We discover four highly magnified
candidate Lyman-break galaxies behind the cluster, one of which may be
multiply-imaged. Correcting for magnification, we find that all four galaxies
are fainter than . One candidate is detected at in
both Spitzer/IRAC [3.6] and [4.5] channels. A spectroscopic follow-up with
MOSFIRE does not result in the detection of the Lyman-alpha emission line from
any of the four candidates. From the MOSFIRE spectra we place median upper

Spitzer UltRa Faint SUrvey Program (SURFS UP). II. IRAC-Detected Lyman-Break Galaxies at 6 < z < 10 Behind Strong-Lensing Clusters
We study the stellar population properties of the IRAC-detected galaxy candidates from the Spitzer UltRa Faint SUrvey Program
(SURFS UP). Using the Lyman Break selection technique, we find a total of 16
new galaxy candidates at with in at
least one of the IRAC m and m bands. According to the best mass
models available for the surveyed galaxy clusters, these IRAC-detected galaxy
candidates are magnified by factors of --. We find that the
IRAC-detected sample is likely not a homogeneous
galaxy population: some are relatively massive (stellar mass as high as ) and evolved (age Myr) galaxies, while
others are less massive () and very
young ( Myr) galaxies with strong nebular emission lines that boost
their rest-frame optical fluxes. We identify two Ly emitters in our
sample from the Keck DEIMOS spectra, one at (in
RXJ1347) and one at (in MACS0454). We show that IRAC
color, when combined with photometric redshift, can be used to
identify galaxies likely with strong nebular emission lines within certain

Source data for the figures are available as Supplementary Data 2.BACKGROUND: Monogenic insulin resistance (IR) includes lipodystrophy and disorders of insulin signalling. We sought to assess the effects of interventions in monogenic IR, stratified by genetic aetiology. METHODS: Systematic review using PubMed, MEDLINE and Embase (1 January 1987 to 23 June 2021). Studies reporting individual-level effects of pharmacologic and/or surgical interventions in monogenic IR were eligible. Individual data were extracted and duplicates were removed. Outcomes were analysed for each gene and intervention, and in aggregate for partial, generalised and all lipodystrophy. RESULTS: 10 non-randomised experimental studies, 8 case series, and 23 case reports meet inclusion criteria, all rated as having moderate or serious risk of bias. Metreleptin use is associated with the lowering of triglycerides and haemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) in all lipodystrophy (nâ=â111), partial (nâ=â71) and generalised lipodystrophy (nâ=â41), and in LMNA, PPARG, AGPAT2 or BSCL2 subgroups (nâ=â72,13,21 and 21 respectively). Body Mass Index (BMI) is lowered in partial and generalised lipodystrophy, and in LMNA or BSCL2, but not PPARG or AGPAT2 subgroups. Thiazolidinediones are associated with improved HbA1c and triglycerides in all lipodystrophy (nâ=â13), improved HbA1c in PPARG (nâ=â5), and improved triglycerides in LMNA (nâ=â7). In INSR-related IR, rhIGF-1, alone or with IGFBP3, is associated with improved HbA1c (nâ=â17). The small size or absence of other genotype-treatment combinations preclude firm conclusions. CONCLUSIONS: The evidence guiding genotype-specific treatment of monogenic IR is of low to very low quality. Metreleptin and Thiazolidinediones appear to improve metabolic markers in lipodystrophy, and rhIGF-1 appears to lower HbA1c in INSR-related IR. For other interventions, there is insufficient evidence to assess efficacy and risks in aggregated lipodystrophy or genetic subgroups.Wellcome TrustWellcome Trus
