Factors Leading To The Integration Of Technology, Acceptance Of Technology And Training Development

    Get PDF
Advancements in technology have led to changes in various aspects of living. Methods by which business is conducted and job re-structuring have been impacted globally. With concerns of raising productivity, the integration of technology, which has undergone growing popularity in education, government and industry, is positioned at the forefront of strategic planning. According to assertions by Iansiti (1998) and Handel (2003), some leaders who have supported technology integration have gained substantial growth in productivity and business. However, findings of prior research have revealed that companies have been slow to use technology. The process of supporting further integration starts with assessing perceptions about the acceptance of technology from an individual perspective, specifically, the perspective of workforce employees. Where Fred Davis (1986), researcher on attitude assessment of technology acceptance, developed the technology acceptance model (TAM), other researchers have developed adaptations to TAM with the objective of determining factors that drive productivity and system usage. In order to assess perceptions about technology integration within the workforce and reveal if differences in attitudes exist between different employee levels, two surveys were designed and utilized to reveal perceptions between two survey groups, non-managers and managers. Based upon findings generated from the rated responses to item statements, which were designed to ascertain eleven possible correlations between eight independent variables, several were found to have low to moderate significant relationships. Additionally, findings of a t-test also revealed that the differences in attitudes regarding the acceptance of technology between managers and non-mangers were not significant

Across the nation, Latina/o educational leaders who serve large urban school systems face the challenges of educating historically marginalized Latinx student populations, many of whom represent a diverse group of English Learners (ELs) in school systems designed for monolingual English speakers. This study is an exploratory, qualitative, multiple case study, using testimonio methodology to document the experiences of seven Latina/o leaders across the nation to arrive at new understandings of their practices. The review of the literature focused on the sociopolitical history of Latina/o education, linguistic hegemony in schooling, and theories of leaders of color. These concepts were used were used to develop cross-testimonio analyses of the seven testimonios, which revealed five cross-case themes: (a) personal moral compass, (b) relating to students and families, (c) systemic inequities are revealed, (d) bilingual/bicultural connections, and (e) proving the right to lead. The leaders approached their leadership through their identity as bilingual members of the same communities they led, they used their lived experiences to hire bilingual teachers, implemented dual language programs, used bilingual text, renamed English Learners to Emergent bilingual and made public data to reveal areas for improvement. They led with sympathy, compassion and a sense of community to ensure they proved why they were the right leaders. Recommendations include the need for national, state and local policies to use an asset based lens for educating Latina/o and English Learners, identification and support for more Latina/o leaders and creation of a Latina/o Leadership Framework

Overcoming the Poverty Trap Through Education: an Intergenerational Study on Indonesia

Poverty has an inter-generational dimension. Individuals born into poor families are constrained to obtain education. Low education leads to low productivity which then leads to low income. The purpose of this study is to present a case study of Indonesia's experience with public expenditures on education and its effect on inter-generational poverty alleviation and medium term impact on individual income. This study uses Indonesian Family Life Survey (IFLS) data consisting of families' income, level of education, and health data over a ten year period. The results suggest that education explains the income variation. Parents' income plays a bigger role in predicting children's income than parents' income. It suggests the importance of education in breaking the inter-generational poverty trap
