It is well known that the degree of the damage by aircraft accident is so huge because of a great deal of social loss, though the safety of aircraft is the highest among public transportation system. Therefore, it is important to enable the cabin attendant to make standard way how to help the passengers to escape from the emergency panic in aircraft. In this paper a survey by questionnaire is examined to evaluate the effect of psychological threat and the human behavior on collective escaping from the emergency panic. It has been known that from the experiences by accidents of aircraft by landing on the water, bombing and fire and highjack, the majority of the passengers scrambled to the exit which results in the highest crowd density when the degree of psychological threat was big inside the aircraft. The several effective factors such as the location of passenger, kinds of accident, and density of passengers are investigated by survey of questionnaire. Dual scale analysis was applied to evaluate the degree of psychological threat on several factors. It is seen that the effect of important factors can be found by these kinds of data mining and statistical analysis

In this paper, we propose a new method for improving detection probabilities of the defect inspection in quality control on the FRP product surface. Our proposed method has improved the detection probabilities by using the joint probabilities of dual attributes with correlation for multiple perceptions. In order to obtain the improving detection probability, three kinds of attributes such as size, aspect ratio, and color density are prepared in experiments. The experiments were performed by the paired comparison under constant stimuli. The result of our experiment qualitatively shows that the improving ratio of detection probabilities for dual attributes:P12, P23, P31 respectively rise approximately 21%, 26% and 24% for the mean in the case of dual attributes experiments. In addition, detection probabilities to be obtained by our method for multiple perceptions such as using dual attributes experiment were improved approximately 28% in comparison with the detection probability of past single attribute. These results showed our method was effective in rising detection probability for multiple perceptions. The original publication is available at JAIST Press http://www.jaist.ac.jp/library/jaist-press/index.htmlIFSR 2005 : Proceedings of the First World Congress of the International Federation for Systems Research : The New Roles of Systems Sciences For a Knowledge-based Society : Nov. 14-17, 2096, Kobe, JapanSymposium 3, Session 5 : Intelligent Information Technology and Applications Evaluation and Standar

Useful Field of View in Simulated Driving: Reaction Times and Eye Movements of Drivers

To examine the spatial distribution of a useful field of view (UFOV) in driving, reaction times (RTs) and eye movements were measured in simulated driving. In the experiment, a normal or mirror-reversed letter “E” was presented on driving images with different eccentricities and directions from the current gaze position. The results showed significantly slower RTs in the upper and upper left directions than in the other directions. The RTs were significantly slower in the left directions than in the right directions. These results suggest that the UFOV in driving may be asymmetrical among the meridians in the visual field
