    Get PDF
Studies had stated that less attention was given to the education aspect, such as teaching and learning in planning for improving the TVET system. Due to the 21st Century context, the current paradigm of teaching for the TVET educators also has been reported to be fatal and need to be shifted. All these disadvantages reported hindering the country from achieving the 5th strategy in the Strategic Plan for Vocational Education Transformation to transform TVET system as a whole. Therefore, this study aims to develop a framework for sustainable TVET Teacher Education program in Malaysia. This study had adopted an Exploratory Sequential Mix-Method design, which involves a semi-structured interview (phase one) and survey method (phase two). Nine experts had involved in phase one chosen by using Purposive Sampling Technique. As in phase two, 118 TVET-TE program lecturers were selected as the survey sample chosen through random sampling method. After data analysis in phase one (thematic analysis) and phase two (Principal Component Analysis), eight domains and 22 elements have been identified for the framework for sustainable TVET-TE program in Malaysia. This framework was identified to embed the elements of 21st Century Education, thus filling the gap in this research. The research findings also indicate that the developed framework was unidimensional and valid for the development and research regarding TVET-TE program in Malaysia. Lastly, it is in the hope that this research can be a guide for the nations in producing a quality TVET teacher in the future

This report is prepared as the final documentation for the proposed final year project entitled ‘Development of Process Safety Management Expert System (PSMES) for UTP Mini Plant of High Gravitational Natural Gas Dehydration Unit’. Process Safety Management (PSM) is a standard promulgated by the United States Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) in 2000 intended to prevent major accidents hazards from occurring. This standard comprises of fourteen (14) main elements to manage the hazards associated with highly hazardous chemical (HHC). The main objective of this research is to develop an expert system named PSMES to be used in process plants and other companies which will ensure that they comply with OSHA regulations and requirements. For this project, PSM elements are divided into two (2) major categories; Process Flow Diagram (PFD) Elements and Block Diagram (BD) Elements. The author chose UTP mini plant of High Gravitational Natural Gas Dehydration Unit as the project case study. Furthermore, for this project, the author is developing only 7 (seven) out of 14 (fourteen) PSM elements. These elements are Process Safety Information, Training, Operating Procedures, Management of Change, Hot Work Permit, Incident Investigation, and also Compliance Audit. The development PSMES utilizes tools such as Microsoft Visual Basic for programming purposes. The concept of the system is initially represented by the frameworks constructed in flow chart forms, designated for each element. The results show how the expert system is executed using the approved frameworks constructed earlier. The development of this PSMES is expected to assist the company in managing its operation in an effective and convenient manner

In this study, the writer tried to teach English (reading skill) to the eighth grade students of Junior high school. The reading material that the writer taught was Narrative text based on the syllabus of English subject at the eighth grade level students. I tried to solve the problem of the eighth grade students of junior high school in reading skill particularly in this case to improve their ability in understanding narrative text. In narrative text, the students should know about generic structure (Orientation, Complication, and Resolution), language features of narrative text (using simple past tense), and also the students can get new vocabulary in learning narrative text. Finally, students are able to answer the questions based on the text correctly. This study using cooperative learning, means students working together to accomplish shared goals. Within cooperative activities individuals seek outcomes that are beneficial to themselves and beneficial to all other members

Listening is a process of activities hearing speech symbols by full attention, understanding, appreciation, and interpretation to acquire communication meaning that is delivered by the speaker through speech. Listening constitutes quite important activities in learning language. It is the basis of the learning process as a child learns language from his mother. By using metacognitive strategy, it can help students to compensate their bottom up listening processing and give students an overview of the listening process. This strategy also builds the character of the students to become competence, independent, self-confidence, creative, and responsibility that is related to character building in education in Indonesia. The strategy include extract an important detail from ongoing speech, identify the gist of a segment and then predict what will come next in a segment

Listening is receptive skill and it is very important skill in foreign language classrooms because it provides input for the learners; by listening the students can produce language such as speaking and writing by vocabulary that they obtain from listening. Listening process has both top-down listening process that involves activation of schematic knowledge and contextual knowledge and bottom-up listening process involves prior knowledge of the language system such as phonology, grammar, and vocabulary. Metacognitive strategies is one of language learning strategies in teaching English and considered as the most essential ones in developing learners’ skills (Anderson, 1991). It is also help the students to make language learning more successful, self-directed, and enjoyable (Oxford: 1989, p. 235). Metacognitive consists of planning for learning, thinking about the learning process as it is taking place, monitoring of one's production or comprehension, and evaluating learning after an activity is completed. This study is intended to use metacognitive strategies in teaching listening and to provide English lecturers with interesting and effective teaching strategies in enhancing the students’ active participation in teaching and learning process and improving students’ listening ability. The students use metacognitive strategies to improve their ability in listening. This study will also give additional value to the effort of increasing the quality of teaching English particularly listening in Indonesia

Multiple Intelligence was proposed by Howard Gardner in 1983 as a model of intelligences that classify intelligences into various specific (primarily sensory) modalities, rather than seeing it as dominated by a single general ability. He has questioned the idea that intelligence is a single entity, that it results from a single factor, and that it can be measured simply via IQ tests. In this study, the writer tried to explain the history of multiple intelligence, the definition and types of multiple intelligences, and also the future possible implication of Multiple Intelligence in the teaching of English as a Foreign Language in Indonesia
