Validation the Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP-14sp) for adults in Spain
Objectives:
The oral health-related quality of life indicators are increasingly used to measure the impact of oral conditions on quality
of life to complement clinical data in cross-sectional and longitudinal studies. One of the most internationally spread indi-
cators is the Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP-14), but it has still never been applied in Spain. The aim of this study was
to validate the OHIP-14 for use among adults in Spain.
Study design:
A cross-sectional study was performed in Granada (Spain). A consecutive sample (n=270) of the Regional Government staff
visiting the Employment Risk Prevention Centre for a routine medical check-up participated in this study. All participants
self-completed the piloted OHIP-14sp and were examined according to World Health Organization methodology for caries,
periodontal disease and prosthesis. Reliability analyses and validity tests were carried out to evaluate the psychometric
properties of the OHIP-14sp by using two different methods of total scoring (i.e. the Additive and the Simple Count).
Results:
The reliability coefficient (Cronbach ́s alpha) of the OHIP-14sp was above the recommended 0.7 threshold and considered
excellent (alpha: 0.89). Some subjective factors (perceived dental treatment need, complaints about mouth and self-rated
oral satisfaction) were strongly associated with both total scoring methods of the OHIP-14sp, supporting the criterion,
construct and convergent validity. Moreover the impact levels were mainly influenced by caries data, e.g., number of teeth
requiring extraction (r = 0.21; p<0.01) and number of decayed visible teeth (between premolars) (r = 0.17; p<0.01). The
prevalence of impacts was 80.7% using the occasional or more frequently threshold. The most prevalently affected OHIP
domains were “psychological discomfort” (53.7%), “functional limitation” (51.1%) and “physical pain” (42.2%).
Conclusions:
The OHIP-14sp is a precise, valid and reliable instrument for assessing oral health-related quality of life among adult
population in Spain
As a result of the adaptation of the Spanish Legislation to the regulations of the European Union, there has been a gradual liberalisation of the labour markets. On of the European Union has been the rise of entities with private character whose activity facilitates the access of persons to the world of labour in companies. This matter emphasises the increasing importance in many sectors of activities of cooperatives of associate work. This article explains this image and delmits its work domain, showing first its importance in the cooperative movement and in the labour market in general, thrugh a statistical analysis comparing the total number of cooperatives created between 1993 and 1995 in Castilla - León, the number of cooperatives of associate work, and the number of members in each of both types of entities
Clinical Experience with Diltiazem in the Treatment of Cardiovascular Diseases
Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in the world. Coronary artery diseases, atrial fibrillation or hypertensive heart disease, are among the most important cardiovascular disorders. Hypertension represents a significant risk factor for cardiovascular mortality; thus, control of high blood pressure has become a priority to prevent major complications. Although the choice of drugs for treating hypertension remains controversial, extensive clinical evidences point to calcium channel blockers as first-line agents. Diltiazem, a non-dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker, is an effective and safe antihypertensive drug, alone or in combination with other agents. Diltiazem lowers myocardial oxygen demand through a reduction in heart rate, blood pressure, and cardiac contractility, representing also a good alternative for the treatment of stable chronic angina. Furthermore, diltiazem reduces conduction in atrioventricular node, which is also useful for heart rate control in patients with atrial fibrillation. In this review, clinical experts highlight studies on diltiazem effectiveness and safety for the treatment of several cardiovascular diseases and make evidence-based recommendations regarding the management of diltiazem in the clinical pracSponsorship for this review and the article

presentar algunos avances. In spite of going through times of deep economic crisis, the tourism sector is
significantly contributing to mitigate its effects on our community, because tourism is
an influential industry in Spain. The global environment in which companies of the
sector operate, makes it especially important for them (not only large ones but also SMEs) to take advantage of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and
to be on virtual marketplaces. The research proposed here, aims to identify online
marketing tools which are being employed by hospitality companies in Andalusia and
how they are being managed. Due to the potential of e-commerce in sales strategies and
in gaining market share, a set of recommendations are proposed so that these ICTS are
efficiently employed from their conception. The paper is part of a much broader
research, but after collecting the first results, it has been considered appropriate to
submit some progress
The new Spanish University (referred to the Bologna Plan), which we have been
speaking for a few years ago, is becoming more and more a reality and less a future
project. In very few months, all current curriculums in the Spanish University and,
therefore, that one which makes possible to obtain the degree of Bachelor in Tourism, it
will give way the new degree. Meanwhile, postgraduates are now a reality that many
students live daily from our universities. In this scenario of real change, in which would
be necessary design new strategies and tactics to get the proper training of graduates and
postgraduates in tourism, the authors of this paper want to be faithful in relation with
the teachings they received at the university, and thus look at to the past and analyze the
present look, like a neccesary prescription for drawing a correct strategy for the future.
That is why we have been interested in presenting the evolution of studies of tourism in
our country. The memory of the past will start with the origins of these studies in
private institutions, and the long process that led them to be included in the list of
official university educations. Later, we will analyze the present of the degree of
Bachelor in Tourism in the Spanish University, and finally we will contribute with the
whole evidence that we possess, more or less accurate, on this new horizon that will be
opened in general with new degrees, Master and Doctorate in Tourism
This paper studies the Spanish tourism sector policies aimed at implementing quality
management strategies at the national tourist destinations, and the tools proposed by the
administration itself to measure levels of quality, with particular reference to the Q of
ICTE, which primary objective is to offer the customer a quality service that meets your
needs. It makes a proposal for empirical work, through the study of quality from a subjective
perspective, an analysis of customer behavior on the service to consume, through the
use of the SERVQUAL scale made by the American school, because they science has
achieved more widespread. So that judgments can be identified on the quality of service
provided by consumers, and to learn more if the products that offer tourist
accommodation national certificates through the ICTE Q Standard, can provide a higher
level of satisfaction to the needs of potential customers, taking into account their
perceptions on the design of quality services
Tourism is a productive sector with great economic importance in international markets.
Its strong growth creates an environment with increasing competitive intensity and
market globalization, causing the quality to become a strategy in the success of
organizations. This scenario is detected by the scientific community, emerging
numerous studies on this subject.
Based on the foregoing, it will try to identify the most relevant scientific projects that
show the evolution of quality in tourism. This is going to make an approximation of
existing research on this topic through a literature review in international journals of
repute. The results focus on the existence of two major lines of research: first studies
that quantify the quality objective in nature, since it is oriented to the product or
process, making a quantitative measurement of the attributes that have (Garvin, 1988 ),
applying this term fundamentals established in the industrial sector to the service sector,
imposing service attributes as a defining quality. Furthermore studies have been
identified that show the term quality with a subjective view, highlighting a key element
behavior analysis showing clients before tourism services received
