Business cycles in Mexico and the United States: Do they share common movements?

In this document I apply a recently developed econometric technique to prove the existence of common movements between time series. Said methodology is used to test and measure the existence of common cycles between the economies of Mexico and the United States for the 1993-2001 period. It is found that both economies share a common trend and a common cycle. Also, given the existence of one common cycle between these economies, it is found that transitory shocks affecting Mexico’s GDP are more important than when a conventional trend-cycle decomposition methodology is applied. Finally, it is shown that there are efficiency gains in forecasting by considering the common cycle restriction in a bivariate vector error correction model that includes the Mexican and the U.S. GDPs.time series models, U.S. GDP, Mexican GDP

Algunas desigualdades integrales que involucran la función $ k- Beta usando funciones (m, h_{1}, h_{2})-Convexas

The present work deals with the study of the integral of the type for p,q,k > 0 , considering some inequalities for $(m,h_{1},h_{2})-$convex functions. From these results some others integral  inequalities for other class of generalized convex functions are obtained.El presente trabajo trata acerca del estudio de la integral del tipo        para p,q,k > 0 , considerando algunas desigualdades para funciones $(m,h_{1},h_{2})-$convexas. De estos  resultados se derivan algunas otras desigualdades integrales para otras clases de funciones convexas generalizadas

La no escolarización de los saberes matemáticos; una experiencia con niños del medio rural

La investigación se desarrolló en el municipio de Tulancingo, estado de Hidalgo, México. La finalidad fue describir el proceso de construcción de los saberes matemáticos de los niños y niñas que no asisten a la escuela. El abordaje metodológico se hace desde el paradigma cualitativo bajo el enfoque etnográfico trabajado por Bertely. Se utilizó la observación y la entrevista como métodos para obtener la información. Se definió un campo de conocimiento teórico explicativo fundado en la perspectiva de la Etnomatemáticas propuesta por el profesor UbiratanD ́Ambrosio, la Histórico Cultural de Vigostky y el concepto de Habitus de Pierre Bourdieu. Los resultados indican que los aprendizajes son producto de la práctica cotidiana y de los actores que en ella intervienen

Attitudes towards disability showed by future physical education teachers

[Resumen] El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo estudiar las actitudes hacia la discapacidad de los futuros maestros de educación física. Con este fin se administraron dos cuestionarios (González y Baños, 2012 y Verdugo, Arias y Jenaro, 1995) y se compararon los resultados en función del género (masculino y femenino), de la experiencia de los participantes en el trato con personas con discapacidad y del curso de los participantes (tercero o cuarto de grado). Los resultados muestran que los estudiantes de la Mención de Educación Física tienen una actitud muy positiva hacia la discapacidad. Los hombres obtienen una actitud más positiva en la variable RICE, además se observa la tendencia de que el contacto previo con personas con discapacidad afecta positivamente a las actitudes hacia la discapacidad. Finalmente al analizar los resultados en función del curso se observa que los alumnos de cuarto curso obtienen valores más elevados en la variable CG.[Abstract] The present paper aims to study the attitudes towards disability of future physical education teachers. For this purpose two questionnaires were administered and the results were compared by gender (male and female), the participants' experience in dealing with people with disabilities and the particants’ course level (third or fourth grade). The results show that students in the Minor in Physical Education have a very positive attitude towards disability. Men obtain a more positive attitude in RICE variable, also is observed the trend of the previous contact with people with disabilities positively affects attitudes towards disability. Finally higher values in CG variable will be obtained by students of fourth grade

La reacción político-institucional al terrorismo en España (1995-2015): Un análisis de los riesgos que entraña la seguridad

El terrorismo constituye, junto a otros muchos factores, una de las principales amenazas a la seguridad del mundo contemporáneo. Sin embargo, el dasafío que plantea supera los límites de la violencia política, alcanzando directamente el núcleo de los sistemas democráticos occidentales. El esbozo de cualquier respuesta política al terrorismo implica un importante riesgo al que todo legislador se ha de enfrentar: el inevitable choque entre libertad y seguridad. De esta forma, y aprovechando la coincidencia temporal y espacial en nuestra historia reciente de dos tipologías terroristas (ETA y yihadismo), acometemos el estudio de la evolución en el tratamiento político e institucional español hacia el terrorismo, prestando especial atención a aquellos cambios que hayan supuesto (o supongan) un potencial peligro para los derechos de los ciudadanos.Terrorism, along with many other factors, constitutes one of the main threats to the security of the contemporary world. However, the challenge it raises goes beyond the limits of political violence, reaching the core of Western democracies. The outline of any political response to terrorism implies an important risk that every legislator has to face: the inevitable clash between freedom and security. In this way, and taking advantage of the temporal and spatial coincidence in our recent history of two terrorist typologies (ETA and yihadism), we undertake the study about the evolution of the Spanish political and institutional treatment towards terrorism, paying special attention to those changes that had posed (or currently do) a potential danger to citizen’s rights

Differentiation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECS) into tubular structures resembling immature capillaries

Angiogenesis is the mechanism of new vessel formation from preexisting ones. It is a process of major relevance in tissue development and, more prominently, in pathological conditions. Kindler Syndrome, a rare disease affecting protein kindlin1, disrupts the dermo-epidermal junction resulting in skin blistering.! ! In order to interrogate the angiogenic effect of the Kindler Syndrome, bovine aortic endothelial cells and human umbilical vein endothelial cells were cultured in fibrin gel and MatrigelTM basement matrix. Qualitative analysis of the former indicated an enhanced angiogenic activity at basement membrane level induced by the Kindler genotype in human keratinocytes. This result was confirmed a posteriori by quantitative analysis with the Angiogenesis Analyzer plugin of ImageJ.! ! The quantitative results point to an increased release of mitogenic substances by keratinocytes lining the epidermis. This has the effect of enhancing angiogenesis in the dermal layer of the skin and is evidenced by the increased number of branches and branch length found under Kindler conditions, indicative of sprouting angiogenesis. Increased mesh area and number, along with a reduced mean mesh size found under Kindler conditions are indicative of an enhanced intussuspective angiogenic activity. The analysis of these five key parameters strongly suggest the proangiogenic influence of the Kindler genotype, expressed in epidermal keratinocytes, which affects vessel formation in the dermal layer of the skin.Ingeniería Biomédic
