    Requalification of the river park: eco-houses in Elche

    The city of Elche, the second most important town of Alicante’s province, thanks to its 230,000 inhabitants, has a lot of heritage values such as the Misteri and the Palmeral. In its urban structure, the relation between the original urban plot and the modern one is made from the location of the river Vinalopò. Its canal is dry most of the year and its slopes are residual spaces that are not integrated with the modern and the ancient existing urban plot. The city of Elche relationship with the Palmeral does not give added value to the numerous urban parks that are in many parts of the city. This research could organize a new building typology of flats. It has tried to build a relationship with the environment that would bring benefits for the relationship between the urban plot and the river. In this way it would encourage a revitalization of the existing river park in support of architectural proposals such as an equipped park. In addition, these houses have bioclimatic technology of cooling evaporating using the natural airstream produced in the park which is induced through the building’s structural system. Introduced by the chimney effect, the air is cooled by vegetal masses. The orientation to the West of glazing, that looks at the river park, causes a lot of energy problems. This research analyses a wrapped and protective solar system based on a vertical rotating panel formed by low thickness and large format ceramic tiles in various sceneries. With modelling and the simulation through the software Design Builder, energetic demands for different sceneries are obtained which allow us to draw conclusions about the most efficient system in terms of energy consumption

    Information and Knowledge for Water Governance in the Networked Society

    In the last few years, parallel evolutionary processes in the socio-political, governmental and technological arenas have been providing new pathways for the collaborative generation, coordination and distribution of polycentric information. From a technological perspective, the proliferation of information and communication technologies (ICTs) has boosted the availability of information about our planet, along with its storage, processing and dissemination capabilities. The Worldwide Web and satellite and electronic sensors combined with smart phone technologies have also opened new means for social, political and scientific innovation. From a socio-political standpoint, the implementation of policies that encourage the reutilisation of data and protect the right to information of interested parties, together with growing social demands for transparency, have resulted in an increasing number of governments drawing strategies to open up public data. In this context, this paper addresses two main topics that we deem will be key drivers for improved water governance in the near future. First, it discusses new practices of collaborative and distributed generation and disclosure of information for water governance, and the resulting challenges and opportunities afforded by the use of ICTs. Second, it looks at the interplay between the uptake of ICTs and institutional frameworks, social dynamics and technological structures within which they operate to understand the extent to which ICTs affect decision-making processes and contribute to creating alternative spaces for the production of common services or alternative discourses. Despite the advances in open data policies, findings suggest that there remain significant challenges to take full advantage of the opportunities offered by ICTs, mostly derived from the structural conditions of existing models of decision-making, and information generation and management. It seems that the potentialities of ICTs as transformative tools are conditioned by the regeneration of the context within which decisions are made, that is, the democratic process itself

    Lower incisor position in different malocclusions and facial patter

    Introduction: The position of lower incisor has been of considerable concern when planning an orthodontic treatment, having been recognized as one of diagnostic keys, Very important in the development of malocclusion and facial pattern. Objectives: In this study we claim to determine the importance of the position and inclination of lower incisor in the different malocclusions and facial patterns, and to base which of the cephalometric measurement parameters are the mostreliable. Material and Methods: Ninety lateral radiographies were taken, and they were classified by skeletal malocclusion and facial pattern.These teleradiographies have been performed cephalometric analysis, which includelower incisor position belong the following analysis: Ricketts, Riolo, Tweed, McHorris, Jarabak-MSE and Holdaway. Study Design: Cross-sectional study where we perform statistical analysis Anova test, Pearson correlations and Bonferroni analysis. Results: The analyzed measurements present a statistically significant differentiation in lower incisor inclination respect to the anterior cranial base, McHorris angle, angulation of lower incisor respect to occlusal plane and mandibular plane. Conclusions: There are statistically significant differentiation in lower incisor position and inclination respect the malocclusion and individual facial pattern

Decimos olvidada porque en nuestro proceso de investigación nos hemos sentido en algún momento realmente desamparados. La bibliografía existente es realmente poca en comparación con otros campos de la cinematografía. Además, muchos de estos libros tratan el tema con excesiva superficialidad no profundizando en el tema. En cuanto a revistas, filmografía, make in off, etc., podemos decir que la información más valiosa ha salido como era de esperar de las palabras del profesional

    Monocyte Activation and Ageing Biomarkers in the Development of Cardiovascular Ischaemic Events or Diabetes in People with HIV

    We investigated whether blood telomere length (TL), epigenetic age acceleration (EAA), and soluble inflammatory monocyte cytokines are associated with cardiovascular events or diabetes (DM) in people living with HIV (PLHIV). This was a case-control study nested in the Spanish HIV/AIDS Cohort (CoRIS). Cases with myocardial infarction, stroke, sudden death, or diabetes after starting antiretroviral therapy were included with the available samples and controls matched for sex, age, tobacco use, pre-ART CD4 cell count, viral load, and sample time-point. TL (T/S ratio) was analysed by quantitative PCR and EAA with DNA methylation changes by next-generation sequencing using the Weidner formula. Conditional logistic regression was used to explore the association with cardiometabolic events. In total, 180 participants (94 cases (22 myocardial infarction/sudden death, 12 strokes, and 60 DM) and 94 controls) were included. Of these, 84% were male, median (IQR) age 46 years (40-56), 53% were current smokers, and 22% had CD4 count ≤ 200 cells/mm3 and a median (IQR) log viral load of 4.52 (3.77-5.09). TL and EAA were similar in the cases and controls. There were no significant associations between TL, EAA, and monocyte cytokines with cardiometabolic events. TL and EAA were mildly negatively correlated with sCD14 (rho = -0.23; p = 0.01) and CCL2/MCP-1 (rho = -0.17; p = 0.02). We found no associations between TL, EAA, and monocyte cytokines with cardiovascular events or diabetes. Further studies are needed to elucidate the clinical value of epigenetic biomarkers and TL in PLHIV.This study was funded by an unrestricted and competitive grant from “The Fellowship Program” of Gilead Sciences (Exp.
