    Gambier contains tannin which functions as vegetable tanning material. This study aimed to determine, the gambier addition to produces the best chemical quality leather according to Indonesian National Standard chemical quality goatleather (SNI 06-0463-1989). The method was used experimental method randomized block design, which consists of 5 treatments with 4 replications. Treatment of this study was added the gambier percentage (%), each treatment consisting of: treatment A: 15%, B: 20%, C: 25%, D: 30%, and E: 35%. The variables were measured water content, oil/fat content, water-soluble substances content, levels of substances rawhide, levels of insoluble ash in the water, levels of tanning substances (tannins) bound and the tanning degree. The results showed a significantly different effect (P 0.05) oil/fat content, ash content and levels of tanning substances (tannins) bound. The conclusion of this study was the addition of 25% was the best gambier percentage, with 17.06±0.15% water content, the fat/oil 7.69±1.24%, the levels of water-soluble substances 4.16±0.99%, levels of substances rawhide 42.47±6.39%, 0.99±0.03% levels of insoluble ash in the water, levels of tanning substances (tannins) bound 27.63±2.75% and 65.46% tanning degree, which all meet the quality standard ISO test 06-0994-1989 and SNI No.0253-2009

    Sequence effects in the categorization of tones varying in frequency

    In contrast to exemplar and decision-bound categorization models, the memory and contrast models described here do not assume that long-term representations of stimulus magnitudes are available. Instead, stimuli are assumed to be categorized using only their differences from a few recent stimuli. To test this alternative, the authors examined sequential effects in a binary categorization of 10 tones varying in frequency. Stimuli up to 2 trials back in the sequence had a significant effect on the response to the current stimulus. The effects of previous stimuli interacted with one another.     Absolute identification by relative judgment

    In unidimensional absolute identification tasks, participants identify stimuli that vary along a single dimension. Performance is surprisingly poor compared with discrimination of the same stimuli. Existing models assume that identification is achieved using long-term representations of absolute magnitudes. The authors propose an alternative relative judgment model (RJM) in which the elemental perceptual units are representations of the differences between current and previous stimuli. These differences are used, together with the previous feedback, to respond. Without using long-term representations of absolute magnitudes, the RJM accounts for (a) information transmission limits, (b) bowed serial position effects, and (c) sequential effects, where responses are biased toward immediately preceding stimuli but away from more distant stimuli (assimilation and contrast)

However, our second method allows a closer look onto associated norm inequalities under restrictions in the Fourier image.     The Dirichlet-to-Robin Transform

    A simple transformation converts a solution of a partial differential equation with a Dirichlet boundary condition to a function satisfying a Robin (generalized Neumann) condition. In the simplest cases this observation enables the exact construction of the Green functions for the wave, heat, and Schrodinger problems with a Robin boundary condition. The resulting physical picture is that the field can exchange energy with the boundary, and a delayed reflection from the boundary results. In more general situations the method allows at least approximate and local construction of the appropriate reflected solutions, and hence a "classical path" analysis of the Green functions and the associated spectral information. By this method we solve the wave equation on an interval with one Robin and one Dirichlet endpoint, and thence derive several variants of a Gutzwiller-type expansion for the density of eigenvalues. The variants are consistent except for an interesting subtlety of distributional convergence that affects only the neighborhood of zero in the frequency variable.Comment: 31 pages, 5 figures; RevTe

Satisfaction and well-being levels are shown to depend on more than simple relative pay. They depend upon the ordinal rank of an individual's wage within a comparison group. “Rank” itself thus seems to matter to human beings. Moreover, consistent with psychological theory, quits in a workplace are correlated with pay distribution skewness

    Modeling and characterization of the SPIDER half-wave plate

    Spider is a balloon-borne array of six telescopes that will observe the Cosmic Microwave Background. The 2624 antenna-coupled bolometers in the instrument will make a polarization map of the CMB with approximately one-half degree resolution at 145 GHz. Polarization modulation is achieved via a cryogenic sapphire half-wave plate (HWP) skyward of the primary optic. We have measured millimeter-wave transmission spectra of the sapphire at room and cryogenic temperatures. The spectra are consistent with our physical optics model, and the data gives excellent measurements of the indices of A-cut sapphire. We have also taken preliminary spectra of the integrated HWP, optical system, and detectors in the prototype Spider receiver. We calculate the variation in response of the HWP between observing the CMB and foreground spectra, and estimate that it should not limit the Spider constraints on inflation
