The bactericidal effect of 632.8 nm low level laser has been studied in order to point out both the effective power and laser exposure time on Staphylococcus aureus, which is reported to be involved in several dermatology problems. Low level laser has been reported to be useful for infected wounds, tissue necrosis, nerve injury, osteoarthritis or other chronic pain syndromes. Numerous studies have been conducted to quantify the effective laser parameters, i.e. dose, power, and exposure time, which ultimately leads toward clinical implementation. Staphylococcus aureus bacteria colonies were exposed to laser doses with powers of both 1 and 3 mW at different exposure times varies between 3 to 30 minutes. The bacterial colonies were isolated from a patient with inflamed wounds. Two sets of bacterial colonies were prepared to be exposed to laser beam. Next, the bacterial colonies were compared before and after exposing them to laser doses. The results showed that laser sessions have reduced the number of the bacterial colonies for both doses; 1 and 3 mw at the different exposure times and concentrations. The results revealed significant dose dependent bactericidal effects of He-Ne laser on Staphylococcus aureus at 3 mW for 30 minutes, which was found to be more effective in reducing the amount of bacteria to the less than 2% of its initial count. The results exhibited the reduction of the number of colonies as a function of exposure time. Appropriate doses of 632.8 nm can kill Staphylococcus aureus, suggesting that a similar effect may be used in clinical cases of bacterial infection. Staphylococcus aureus

The purpose of this study was to find out the different effect between the use Prezi and the use of Powerpoint as learning media towards the students\u27 learning interest in Civic subject at class X IPS SMA Negeri1 Teras Boyolali. This was a quantitative study with experimental method that used treatment. The samples of this study were taken by using Simple random sampling technique. The design of this study was posttest-only control experimental. Data of this study were collected through observations and questionnaire. Data analysis precondition test was done by doing independent test, normality test, and homogeneity test, while Hypothesis was tested by using T-test.The result of hypothesis test found that tcount was 3,034 with significance level of 5% and df= n1+n2-2 (34+34-2=66), then ttable was 1,99656 (interpolation). So, tcount (3,034) > ttable (1,99656) and average score of experimental group 1 was 92,74, it was higher than the average score of experimental group 2 which gained 86,79. Based on the calculation, it can be concluded that there was a significant differences between the use of Prezi and the use of Powerpoint as learning media towards the students\u27 learning interest to civic subject at class X IPS of SMA Negeri 1 Teras Boyolali 2016/2017 academic year. The use of Prezi as learning media give more significant effect to the students\u27 learning interest since it had more innovative and interesting display, can be accessed online or offline, the given material was clear and easy to understand

Single image defocus estimation by modified gaussian function

© 2019 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. This article presents an algorithm to estimate the defocus blur from a single image. Most of the existing methods estimate the defocus blur at edge locations, which further involves the reblurring process. For this purpose, existing methods use the traditional Gaussian function in the phase of reblurring but it is found that the traditional Gaussian kernel is sensitive to the edges and can cause loss of edges information. Hence, there are more chances of missing spatially varying blur at edge locations. We offer the repeated averaging filters as an alternative to the traditional Gaussian function, which is more effective, and estimate the spatially varying defocus blur at edge locations. By using repeated averaging filters, a blur sparse map is computed. The obtained sparse map is propagated by integration of superpixels segmentation and transductive inference to estimate full defocus blur map. Our adopted method of repeated averaging filters has less computational time of defocus blur map estimation and has better visual estimates of the final defocus recovered map. Moreover, it has surpassed many previous state-of-the-art proposed systems in terms of quantative analysis

University or Higher Learning Institution is a platform to train students in specific domain area that will become an asset for a country. One of the critical issues in University is to avoid dropout students. Educational Data Mining (EDM) is an emergent discipline in developing methods to explore the unique types of data from the educational context. One of the techniques applied in EDM is an Association Rules (AR) which is to find a pattern of one element influencing other element. In this paper, AR technique has been utilized to predict students’ results based on a group of the previous students results. Clustering method has been used to classify the specific subject category. Finally, a system known as Result Prediction System (REPS) has been developed to perform automatically the AR analysis on the academic data using PHP and MYSQL databases

Incoherent Transport through Molecules on Silicon in the vicinity of a Dangling Bond

We theoretically study the effect of a localized unpaired dangling bond (DB) on occupied molecular orbital conduction through a styrene molecule bonded to a n++ H:Si(001)-(2x1) surface. For molecules relatively far from the DB, we find good agreement with the reported experiment using a model that accounts for the electrostatic contribution of the DB, provided we include some dephasing due to low lying phonon modes. However, for molecules within 10 angstrom to the DB, we have to include electronic contribution as well along with higher dephasing to explain the transport features.Comment: 9 pages, 5 figure
