Integral is the base of pure and applied mathematics for all students of science, especially engineering, which some of their lessons are dependent to it directly or indirectly. In fact, Integral is an indisputable concept for solve practical and executive problems of students, so it is important to pay attention to it. On the other hand, experiences of teaching Integral have indicated that most students have weakness in solve Integral problems. Through case study, an exam has been conducted in the form of six problems on six good experienced students in order to study the students' behaviors in coping with the integral problems and also to reach a proposed method for teaching the integral concept, in which each question has in turn two parts. The analysis of their responses and discussion with them have led some light on more details about the integral, how to teach it and also the problems as a result of the teaching method and the problems to which they would encounter, so that by their citation, an appropriate teaching method could be presented in order to maximally conceptualize the integral in students. On the other hand, these studies reveal that in order to solve the integral-related problems, most students first refer to the initial function approach and try to solve the problem by the direct method rather than spending their time learning conceptually and meaningfully. But those students who have used Riemann concept and infinite collection in solve Integral problems were successful in compare to others.

ASSESSMENT OF CONVENTIONAL WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANTS IN REMOVING PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOUNDS: A CASE STUDY OF AL AIN CITY, UAE

This thesis is concerned with the assessment of conventional wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) in removing pharmaceutical compounds (PCs). PCs have classes like analgesics, antibiotics, antiseptics, hormones, cosmetic products, personal care products. They are used extensively by humans and they don’t have actual guidelines describing their concentration in domestic wastewater discharge. Thus, they may still be present in treated sewage effluent (TSE) or sludge and could consequently pose adverse environmental effects. Limited work has been done to assess the removal of PCs at WWTPs in arid and semi-arid countries including the United Arab Emirates (UAE). As such, this study aimed at investigating the levels of selected PCs in domestic wastewater in Al Ain city before and after treatment. An analytical protocol was developed for the identification, quantification, and analysis of 15 PCs using a liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) system. Four batches of used water and sludge samples were collected from different locations at Al Saad WWTP in Al Ain, UAE. Aliquots of each sample were enriched by solid-phase extraction (SPE). Results show that phenylephrine, dapsone, noscapine, propyl gallate, genistein, and ketoconazole were present in the raw wastewater at low levels (\u3c0.1 μg/L), while acetaminophen and caffeine were present at high levels (\u3e10 μg/L). The overall removal efficiency of the tested PCs from the water stream in Al Saad WWTP exceeded 99% for cotinine, acetaminophen, caffeine, naproxen, and ibuprofen, but significantly drops (\u3c50%) for phenylephrine, amoxicillin, dapsone, noscapine, spiramycin, noscapine, genistein, and ketoconazole. Analysis of the results indicates that, for highly removed PCs, the main mechanism of removal is possibly aerobic biodegradation. However, for tyramine, dapsone, 9-aminoacridine, noscapine, propyl gallate, and ketoconazole sorption onto the mixed liquor suspended solids (MLSS) first occurs in the aeration tank of the activated sludge system followed by removal by anaerobic digestion

AbstractThe purpose of this study is to compare the effect of Dialectical Behavior Therapy in declining the rate of major depression. The methodology utilized in this research is semi-experimental socio-statistic approach consisting of the experimental group and the control group. Statistical universe were participants referred to 3 hospitals with the diagnosis of major depression. They were selected based on stratified random sampling. Participants were randomly divided into control group and DBT group of 7 female and 5 male in each group for seven months. Results indicate significant difference between the two groups in declining the rate of major depression and reducing suicide tendency; thus, supported the effectiveness of Dialectical Behavior Therapy

    Negotiation: types and ethical issues

Negotiation is an alternative and yet peaceful means of resolving a dispute, which can be utilised by people or entities to settle their differences through compromise or agreement that would allow the parties to continue to maintain their mutually beneficial relationship after the resolution of their differences. Negotiation is a non-adjudicative, flexible, informal and confidential method that may be conducted bilaterally or multilaterally. An effective negotiation necessitates observance of certain ethical values by the negotiators including honesty, trust, fairness, etc., that would enable them to resolve their differences justly and fairly, and at the same time make sure that the relationship between the parties continues to flourish. The scope of this chapter does not cover all aspects of negotiation as it focuses only on the types of negotiation and its ethics

The role of problem solving method on the improvement of mathematical learning

In history of education, problem solving is one of the important educational goals and teachers or parents have intended that their students have capacity of problem solving. In present research, it is tried that study the problem solving method for mathematical learning. This research is implemented via quasi-experimental method on 49 boy students at high school. The results of Leven test and T-test indicated that problem solving method has more effective on the improvement of mathematical learning than traditional instruction method. Therefore it seems that teachers of mathematics must apply the problem solving method in educational systems till students became self-efficiency in mathematical problem solving

The Effect of Psychoeducational Stress Management Interventions on Students Stress Reduction: Systematic Review

Students can be a vulnerable group for stress. A psycho-educational program is one of the strategies to facilitate students’ adjustment and manage stress. This systematic review will integrate the effects of psychoeducational interventions on the level of stress among students. Pubmed, CINAHL, Science Direct Scopus databases were used to find potentially relevant published articles. The title and abstracts are used firstly to screen studies using inclusion and exclusion criteria before going to the next stage of the reviewing of complete articles. A total of eleven articles were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. All articles in this sample were assessed using an instrument to assess overall quality. Study setting, sample size, study interventions, outcome measure/methods of delivery, and results were assessed and extracted. In all of the studies reviewed, the intervention groups experienced significantly greater reductions in perceived stress and symptoms of anxiety and depression. Our review highlights the importance of stress management programs, and the findings from this systematic review indicated that these programs were generally effective for optimizing the stress process and improving coping capacity with stressors
