    MAKALAH PRESENTATIONExtraction and isolation of semi-polar and polar constituents from Petrossian Alfiani sponges in chloroform and ethyl acetate solvents has been performed. Petrossian Alfiani is an endemic species in the waters of Spermonde archipelago of South Sulawesi Indonesian. Five isolates (pure compounds) were resulted, two from the chloroform extract and three from the ethyl acetate extract. Both isolates from the chloroform extract were in the form of white crystals, namely I1 and I2. Spectroscopic analysis showed that the compound I1 is ??-Sitosterol. Four other isolates, respectively, I2 was identified as steroids, F3 as terpenoids, F6 and F7 as flavonoids. Bioactivity test for the level of toxicity was conducted on shrimp larvae Artemia salina leach. Compound I1 is very active with LC50 value of 1.47 ??g/mL. Compounds F3 shows the resistance activity to the C. albicans fungi

    Oleanan derivative compound namely 3-acetyl-12-oleanen-28-oic acid, has been isolated from n-hexane fraction of the bark M. umbellate (Houtt) Stapf var. degrabrata The\ud molecular structure was determined by IR spectroscopy, NMR 1D and 2D (1H-NMR, 13CNMR, DEPT, COSY, HMQC and HMBC). The results of test bioactivity to hexane,\ud chloroform, ethyl acetic, methanol extracts and compound 1 mentioned above showed\ud that they are toxic to A. salina (brine shrimp) with LC50 361.93 to 460 ??g/mL. The most\ud toxic one was the compound 1 with the LC50 value of 361.93 ??g/mL. At a concentration of 1000 ??g/mL, the extract of hexane, methanol and compound 1 showed very high\ud inhibition to the growth of B. subtilis and C.albican, whereas the extract of ethyl acetate\ud had very high inhibition effect to the growth of S. aureus and A. niger. The inhibition zone\ud of the three extracts and compound 1 were greater than 14 mm. On the other hand, the\ud extracts of chloroform gave weak inhibition against bacteria and fungi

    Structural Elucidation of Secondary Metabolites in Sponge (Callyspongia pseudoreticulata) with N-Hexane Extract

    Sponge is one of the marine species that has a high bioactivity and contains secondary metabobolite compound which can be used as antibiotic and medicine. Terpenoid compound derivatives have been successfully isolated from sponge Callyspongia pseudoretilulata by a method in which the n-hexane extract weighing 11.28 g was fractionated using vacuum column chromatography with a non-polar eluent, n-hexane. The polarity of this eluent was improved by ethyl acetic resulting in fairly polar eluent, methanol. A total of 27 fractions were obtained and one of the compounds from n-hexane extract was structurally elucidated by NMR spectroscopy and two dimensions of homonuclear and heteronuclear (1H, 13C, DEPT, H-H COSY, HMQC, and HMBC). The identified compound was a hydrocarbon (1-ethyl cyclo hex cosana-1-amin) that indicated LC50 of 60.58 against A. salina and has a great potential as antitumor or anticancer

    Isolation, structure elucidation, activity test against Salmonella thypi, Staphylococcus aureus of secondary metabolite from hydroid Aglaophenia cupressina Lamoureoux, were conducted. This study was aimed to identify and isolate the compound with antibacterial properties of hydroid Aglaophenia crupessina Lamoureoux. This study used stepwise method with the following sequences: extraction, isolation, purification, structure elucidation, and bioactivity test. Study results indicated three compounds found: (1)carboxylate acid compound: hexadecanoic acid and has antibacterial properties; (2) alkaloidcompound which was considered as a new compound: aglaounhas and has antimicrobialproperties; (3) steroid compound: β-sitosterol with no antimicrobial properties

    Penelitian ini bermaksud mengeksplorasi dan mengkarakterisasi fraksi protein dari alga cokelat Turbinaria decurrens di Sulawesi Selatan. Senyawa protein bioaktif diperoleh melalui serangkaian proses ekstraksi, fraksionasi dengan kejenuhan amonium sulfat 0-20%, 20-40%, 40-60%, dan 60-80% yang dilanjutkan dengan proses dialisis lalu ditentukan kadar proteinnya dengan metode Lowry. Fraksi protein yang diperoleh diuji bioaktivitasnya terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan Salmonella thypi dengan metode difusi agar pada medium MHA. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kadar protein tertinggi ditemukan pada fraksi 0-20% yaitu sebesar 5,1 mg/mL. Hasil uji bioaktivitas antibakteri terbesar ditemukan pada fraksi protein 0-20% terhadap Staphylococcus aureus dan Salmonella thypi dengan zona daerah hambatan masing-masing sebesar 18,33 mm dan 13,30 mm yang bersifat bakteriostatik. Hasil penelitian awal ini akan dikembangkan pada cakupan penelitian yang lebih luas untuk mengkloning protein bioaktifnya dan uji pre-klinis dari protein antibakteri yang diperoleh
