    Hypobranching Induced by Both Environmental Antioxidants and ROS Metabolism Gene Knockouts in Neurospora Crassa

    Previous work suggested a role of reactive oxygen species (ROS) metabolism on branch density, the statistical distribution of physical distances between branch points along a growing hypha in Neurospora. Here we report the results of experiments designed to ask more generally about the relationship between ROS and branch density by examining the branching effects of selected ROS metabolism gene knockout mutants as well as the impact on branching of exogenously added antioxidants. In all ROS metabolism mutants tested, growth was shown to branch less densely (hypobranching) when grown at lower temperatures, a shift not observed in the wild-type. Interestingly, this holds true for knockouts of genes expected to reduce ROS as well as those expected to produce them. In addition, in tests on wild type Neurospora, added ascorbic acid produced unusual branching patterns. Hypha exposed to exogenous antioxidants display dose dependent hypobranching with hypha becoming more hypobranched as doses increase. At higher doses, however, the branch distribution becomes bimodal with one maximum continuing to shift toward hypobranching and the second maximum representing a spike of very closely spaced branch points

    Proses pembelajaran merupakan suatu proses yang mengandung serangkaian aktivitas guru dan siswa.Keaktivan siswa dalam proses pembelajaran akan menyebabkan interaksi yang tinggi antara guru dengan siswaataupun dengan siswa itu sendiri. Hal ini akan mengakibatkan suasana kelas menjadi segar dan kondusif,dimana masing - masing siswa dapat melibatkan kemampuannya semaksimal mungkin. Penelitian ini dilakukankarena pentingnya aktivitas belajar itu sendiri dalam pembelajaran. Aktivitas belajar siswa selama mengikutipembelajaran, diharapkan dapat meningkatkan pemahaman, penguasaan materi serta prestasi belajar siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas belajar siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika, tingkatpemahaman konsep matematika siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal dan untuk mengetahui seberapa besarpengaruh aktivitas belajar terhadap pemahaman konsep matematika siswa di kelas VII MTs Salafiyah KotaCirebon. Kerangka pemikiran dalam penelitian ini adalah aktivitas belajar merupakan segala aktivitas yang bersifat fisikmaupun mental. Ketika siswa dapat menyeimbangkan kedua aktivitas ini dalam pembelajarannya maka siswaitu akan mendapatkan hasil belajar yang optimal. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kuantitatif, sedangkan metodepenelitiannya menggunakan metode deskriptif. Dalam penelitian ini, penulis menggunakan data populasi yakniseluruh kelas VII MTs Salafiyah kota Cirebon. Variabel penelitiannya berupa aktivitas belajar dan pemahamankonsep matematika siswa. Adapun teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan lembar observasi dan tes. Setelahdata diperoleh, kemudian dilakukan analisis data.berupa uji validitas, reliabilitas, daya beda dan indekskesukaran dengan menggunakan software ANATES. Selanjutnya dilakukan uji prasyarat, uji korelasi, ujikelinieran regresi, koefesien determinan serta uji hipotesis dengan menggunakan PASW 18. Dari hasil penelitian yang diperoleh dari lembar observasi menunjukkan bahwa aktivitas belajar tergolongsedang dengan skor rata-rata 64.55 dan hasil tes pemahaman konsep matematika siswa juga tergolong sedangdengan skor rata-rata 65,925. Hasil penelitian jga menunjukkan bahwa aktivitas belajar berpengaruh positifterhadap pemahaman konsep matematika siswa. Hal ini ditunjukan dengan analisis regresi, sehingga diperolehpersamaan regresi =2.536+0.982 . Nilai koefisien korelasinya adalah 0,924 yang menunjukkan tingkatkorelasi yang tinggi. Dan untuk koeffisien determinasinya adalah 85.4% yang berarti bahwa pengaruh aktivitasbelajar terhadap pemahaman konsep matematika siswa sebesar 85.4%, sedangkan sisanya 14,6% dipengaruhioleh faktor lain selain aktivitas belajar

    Increasing Islamic Philanthropic Funds is an Approach Model With a Trust Variable as an Intermediary

    Purpose:  This study aims to analyze the increasing islamic philanthropic funds is an approach model with a trust variable as an intermediary.   Design/methodology/approach:  This research uses quantitative research methods, The data received the surveys online in Google Form style via WhatsApp and other social media. The whole responses from respondents who completed Google Forms successfully have been saved in up to 264 records.   The measuremeant choice item scale with a five-point Likert scale that ranges from "Strongly Disagree" (1) to "Strongly Agree" (5) for the construction of the model structure.  data analysis in this study using the SmartPLS program. Hypothesis testing with the SEM approach is carried out in two stages, namely testing the outer model and the inner model.   Findings:  The results of the study concluded that the data tested through the validity test proved that all valid data had no value below <0.5. So at this stage the Iteration Model/Stage_1 is said to be a good/fit model. So that it can be continued in the next analysis. In this study, trust becomes an intermediary that influences the preferences of benefactors in channeling their Islamic Philantropic funds.   Research, Practical & Social implications:  provide input to zakat managers or amil zakat to create innovations and approaches in gaining the trust of muzakki.   Originality/value:  This paper is one of the first papers in the Indonesian context to address the trust effect of Islamic Philantropic Funds

    The purpose of this research was to acquire best cookies which has high nutrition content from pumpkin flour and tempe flour and meet quality standard of cookies (SNI 01-2973-1992.This research used Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and four replications. The treatments were P1 (65% pumpkin flour, 5% tempe flour), P2 (60% pumpkin flour, 10% tempe flour), P3 (55% pumpkin flour, 15% tempe flour) and P4 (50% pumpkin flour, 20% tempe flour). Data were analized using ANOVA and DNMRT at 5% level. The result showed that cookies from different pumpkin flour and tempe flour gave the significant effect to the moisture content, ash content, protein content, β-caroten content, valuation of description organoleptic and valuation of hedonic organoleptic to the colour, flavor, taste, total value, but non significant to texture in hedonic value and organoleptic assessment to the level of children like of cookies. The best cookies in this research is P3 with has 4,54% moisture content, 1,89% ash content, 10,71% protein content and 9,31% β-caroten content

    Fracture properties of reclaimed asphalt pavement mixtures with rejuvenator

    Reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) technology has been extensively promoted to conserve depleting virgin materials for asphalt mixtures. High RAP content is desirable from economic and environmental standpoints. However, RAP mixtures become too stiff and require modification such as rejuvenator. This paper presents the evaluation on the fracture characteristics of mixtures prepared with 50% and 70% RAP, with and without rejuvenator that were subjected to indirect tensile strength (ITS) and notched semi-circular bending (SCB) tests. The fractured surfaces of the tested specimens were quantified using geospatial imaging technique to identify the proportion contribution to failure, namely cohesive, adhesive and broken aggregates. The results showed that the fractured rejuvenated mixtures were predominantly of the cohesive type when compared with the non-rejuvenated mixtures. On the other hand, the failure modes of non-rejuvenated mixtures were of the adhesive and aggregate failure types. The measured ITS at two temperatures corresponded with the expected damage trends. Similar behaviour was found in the derived fracture energy and pre-peak slope that were obtained from the SCB pure tensile and tensile-shear load–displacement curves. The findings showed that the fracture properties of rejuvenated mixtures performed comparably with virgin mixtures in terms of fracture toughness, tensile strength and proportion of damage contribution

    Pemanfaatan Daging Buah Kuini dalam Pembuatan Produk Fruit Leather dengan Penambahan Daging Buah Naga Merah

    Fruit leather type of food made from fruit that have been crushed and dried. Fruit leather has a storage period of up to 12 mounth if kept in good storage conditions. One of the criterationfordeterminan the quality of fruit leather is color. The fruit used is not just the fruit of this kuini but combined with red dragon fruit to color interesting and also dragon fruit contain useful pigment. This study aims to determine the best characteristic of the concentration of fruit kuini and red dragon fruit in the manufacture of quality fruit leather product. Treatment used KN1 (50% kuini fruit, 50% red dragon fruit), KN2 (60% kuini fruit, 40% red dragon fruit), KN3 (70% kuini fruit, 30% red dragon fruit), KN4 (80% kuini fruit, 20% red dragon fruit), KN5 (90% kuini fruit, 10% red dragon fruit). The data obtained were analyzed statistically by using Anova and DNMRT at 5%. The result showed that the use of kuini and red dragon fruit significantly affect the water content, ash content, acidity degree, coarse fiber content, sucrose content, and organic assessment. The best fruit leather the results of this study is fruit leather with KN3 treatment, which has a 12,08% of water content, 0,89% ash content, 4,40% acidity degree, 1,12% crude fiber content, 58,57% sucrose content. Descriptive assessment shows the result that is the color is yellowish red, the aroma tends to smell the fruit of kuini and red dragon fruit, sweet taste, chewy texture and the hedonic overall assessment fruit leather favored by panelists
