Eye (organum visus) vascular of  local goat (capra sp.)ABSTRACT. The aim of the study was to determine of eye vascular in local goat (Capra sp.)  The study used a local goat, aged 2 years old. Observation was made after specimen preparation. The observations was documented using a digital camera and analyzed descriptively. The vascular to the eye originated from externa ophthalmica artery and divides into several branched musculares arteries, lacrimalis artery, rete mirabile ophthalmicum gives off supraorbitalis artery, ethmoidalis artery, anteriores ciliares arteries and anastomoses with interna ophthalmica artery and devides into lateralis posterior longae ciliares arteries and medialis posterior longae ciliares arteries and the terminal branched into lateralis posterior shortae ciliares arteries and medialis posterior shortae ciliares arteries. Superficial temporalis artery gives off two branches lateralis inferior palpebral artery and lateralis superior palpebral artery. Malaris artery gives off two branched medial inferior palpebral artery and medial superior palpebral artery

Characteristics of Frozen-thawed Semen on Simmental and Limousin Bulls in Ungaran, Indonesia

The present research aimed to study the characteristics of frozen-thawed semen in beef bulls ex-import in Ungaran, Indonesia. 5 heads Simmental and 5 heads Limousin of 5.5 years old were used in this research. The research was done in Ungaran Artificial Insemination Center, Central Java, Indonesia and Laboratory of Reproduction and Obstetry, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Frozen semen was obtained from this AI center. Results of the research indicated that the average individual motility of Simmental and Limousin is 39.00±5.48% and 36.00±2.24%. The average percentage of live spermatozoa is 54.00±10.75% for Simmental and 48.20±9.78% for Limousin while the average proportion of abnormal spermatozoa is 9.60±3.36% and 6.80±4.15% for both Simmental and Limousin, respectively. On average, Simmental frozen-thawed semen have the higher mean proportion of sperm motility, live sperm, and abnormal sperm than that of Limousin frozen-thawed seme

Spermatogenesis and Semen Quality of Male Muntjak (Muntiacus Muntjak Muntjak) During Antler Growth Periods

Muntjak (Muntiacus muntjak muntjak) belongs to Cervidae family which distributed in Java Island and Southern part of Sumatera. This cervid has been protected by Indonesian Government since 1999. In order to support breeding program of the species and to avoid them from extinction, itsreproductive biology such as spermatogenesis and the correlation to semen quality is important to be investigated. Therefore, the objective of this study was to examine spermatogenesis and semen quality of two adult male muntjaks during antler growth periods that consist of hard antler (H), casting (C), andvelvet antler (V). Testicular tissues and semen (ejaculates) were obtained by core needle biopsy and electroejaculation methods respectively. Testicular tissues were processed histologically and stained with periodic acid Schiff (PAS) to observe spermatogenesis whereas semen was evaluated to obtaine itsquality. The results showed that spermatogenic activities were detected in all antler periods which marked by PAS positive staining (magenta colour) of round and elongated spermatid acrosomes. In H period, spermatogenic activity was higher than those C and V periods. According to semen evaluation, motile spermatozoa were found with different concentration in all antler periods. The highest sperm concentration (x 106 spermatozoa/ml) in both of muntjaks was found in H period (506.25 ± 61.87), and slightly decreased in C (288.75 ± 37.12), and V periods (362.60 ± 17.68). These finding showed thatspermatogenesis to produce spermatozoa is taken place while muntjaks are in C and V periods with differ activities that provable with the existence of motile spermatozoa from ejaculates in both of male muntjaks. Therefore, muntjaks could provide reproductive function throughout the year of reproductiveaseasonality which is similar to the reeves and formosan muntjak

Maturity and Apoptosis Rate of Cumulus - Oocyte Complex in Aceh Cattle After in Vitro Maturation

The study aims to find out maturity dan apoptosisrate of cumulus -oocyte complex in aceh cattle after in vitro maturation (IVF). The oocytes used in this study amounted to 95 oocytes from ovary waste taken from slaughterhouse. The oocytes were collected by aspiration method. All oocytes were maturated in DMEM medium at 38°C 5% CO2 for 20 hours. After maturation, maturity and apoptosis rate of cumulus - oocyte complexwas calculated. The results showed that the maturity rate of aceh cattle oocytes reached 65.71% and the apoptosis rate reached 13.3%. Based on the results of this study it can be concluded that the oocytes of aceh catt le have good maturity rate and low apoptosis rate ofcumulus - oocyte complex after in vitro maturatio

The aim of this research was to determine the anatomy and histology of pancreas of water monitor lizard (Varanus salvator). Two pancreas were used in this research (a male and a female). Water monitor lizard was euthanized using chloroform and subsequently necropsied to collect the pancreas. The pancreas was washed in 0.9 % NaCl solution. Anatomical observations were carried out including location, shape, and color of pancreas, also the length and weight measurements. Then, pancreas was fixed with 4% paraformaldehyde for 7 days to proceed to histological preparation and hematoxylin eosin (HE) staining. The results of the anatomical observations showed that pancreas of water monitor lizard have two lobes, dorsal lobe (splenic lobe) and ventral lobe (duodenal lobe). Dorsal lobe which was in oval form adhered with the spleen, and ventral lobe was located in the cranial of intestines with the form of long spherical. Both of pancreas lobes were white-yellow color with the length of 1.45±0.64 cm (dorsal lobe) and 7.00±0.42 cm (ventral lobe). Weight of dorsal lobe was 0.15±0.01 g and ventral lobe was 6.35±2.30 g. The histological observations found the acinar cells, ducts, and blood vessels in both of pancreas lobes. Additionally, the similar structure of Langerhans islet only found at the ventral lobe of pancreas. In conclusion, pancreas of water monitor lizard consists of two lobes which located differently. Ventral lobe is larger than the dorsal lobe. Both lobes have similar histological structure except the Langerhans islets are only appeared in the ventral lobe
