HAMDAN ALSULAIMANI, for the Master of Science in Mathematics, presented on NOV 6 2012, at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. TITLE: Diagonal (Triangular) Matrices PROFESSOR: Dr. R. Fitzgerald I present the Triangularization Lemma which says that let P be a set of properties, each of which is inherited by quotients. If every collection of transformations on a space of dimension greater than 1 that satisfies P is reducible, then every collection of transforma- tions satisfying P is triangularizable. I also present Burnside’s Theorem which says that the only irreducible algebra of linear transformations on the finite-dimensional vector space V of dimension greater than 1 is the algebra of all linear transformations mapping V into V. Moreover, I introduce McCoy’s Theorem which says that the pair {A,B} is triangularizable if and only if p(A,B)(AB-BA) is nilpotent for every noncommutative polynomial p. And then I show the relation between McCoy’s Theorem and Lie algebras

Grade 11 students participated in a study that looks to answer the question" does use of Visual Graphic Organizer as teaching technique  improve student to study of information and achievement and their attitudes in grade 11 chemistry in our schools? Attitudes were measured with a Likert Scale survey "Questionnaire"; while achievement was measured with pre-post test. The unit included in this study is "Periodic Table" which is one of the most difficult subjects for the students. The main sources of information were teachers and grade 11 student's book. Students took both a unit test and Likert scale following the instructional period. The results show that using visual graphic organizer enhanced test scores. The Likert scale survey shows that students in the first group like the way of using visual graphic organizer and enjoy it. In contrast, the second group which subjected to the old way did not like it. Keywords: Visual Graphic Organizer, information, achievement, schools.

Particulate matters are emitted from a wide range of man-made and natural sources. Particulate matters (ð‘ƒð‘€2.5) pose the greatest problems and consequences to human health. Batu Pahat is considered as main urban area with high industrial activity and other anthropogenic activities. Due to awareness of the people health in Batu Pahat this study was performed. The focus of this research is to examine the levels of ð‘ƒð‘€2.5 in several areas in Batu Pahat and to examine the correlations of ð‘ƒð‘€2.5 with the weather parameters using the Pearson correlation coefficient. Two stations of selected areas were chosen, namely Batu Pahat, and Parit Sulong represented as an urban area, and residential area. Three parameters observed for 3 consecutive months starting from December 2020 to February 2021 in two phases which were phase 1 (7a.m.) and phase 2 (7p.m.). The data was obtained from the website of Department of Environment (DOE). The statistical analysis of the results obtained for the air particulate matters ð‘ƒð‘€2.5 at the study areas will be compared with the Malaysian Ambient Air Quality Guidelines (MAAQG). It was found out that the concentration of ð‘ƒð‘€2.5 at station B (Parit Sulong) the residential area, was higher in phase 1 and phase 2 with value of 15.04 μg/ð‘š3 and 14.12 μg/ð‘š3 respectively. It can be seen that station B have higher value of ð‘ƒð‘€2.5 than station A (Batu Pahat). Air quality index (AQI) values for both stations was less than the permitted value by Malaysian Ambient Air Quality Guidelines

Perhaps people once thought AI was something out of a science fiction novel. The majority of today's working population, however, is well aware that smart technology is actively reshaping the business world. It's true despite the fact that AI has traditionally been associated with science fiction. Human resources are one of the most notable uses of AI today, but it is not an exception to the rule that AI can be used to practically any sector or profession. According to the results of a recent survey conducted by Oracle and Future Workplace, human resource professionals are optimistic that AI will open up opportunities for learning new skills and gaining more personal time. Human resource experts will be able to take on greater responsibility and play a more strategic role inside their companies as a result

This study has been done to examine the relationship between attitude and subjective norms and zakah compliance intention among owners’ of mutual funds in Saudi Arabia by using the Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA). One hundred and seventy three (173) completed questionnaires were returned that measured respondents' attitude (ATT) towards zakah on mutual funds, subjective norm (SN) about zakah on mutual funds, and intention (ITT) to pay zakah on mutual funds. The findings of the study show that attitude (ATT) and subjective norm (SN) significantly influence zakah compliance among owners’ of mutual funds. In general, the study proved that the theory of reasoned action is applicable in zakah are

Chapter 1 of Pt 1 of the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 introduces a new regime governing the destruction, retention and use of fingerprints, footwear impressions, and samples and the DNA profiles derived from such samples. The purpose of the article is to explain and examine the new regime in all its complexity and, in particular, to assess whether it is compliant with the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR). The research shows that the 2012 Act does not afford adequate privacy protection to innocent individuals, adding pains to an already coercive process without due justification. In Qatar, the DNA Profiling Act regulates the police powers to take and retain DNA samples. The Act should be amended to comply with human rights requirements as enshrined in the Qatar Constitution 2004, in particular the right to privacy. Evaluation of the response capability of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to the impact of natural hazards

A thesis submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy of the University of BedfordshireThe UAE is an Islamic state which has undergone dramatic urbanization in the last 30 years. It is situated near the eastern margin of the Arabian tectonic plate, close to the seismically active collision zone between the Arabian and Eurasian Plates, marked by the Zagros Mountain belt of Iran. In the UAE the population of Dibba in Fujairah has felt tremors as recently as November 26 2009 and an earthquake with a magnitude (M) of 5 occurred in Masafi, Fujairah, in March 2002. The most recent earthquake was M 4.3, and awareness of seismic hazard is increasing. In addition to earthquakes, rapid heavy rainfall in the arid environment of the UAE typically results in high level of discharge and flooding. Tropical storms have also struck the Indian Ocean coast of the UAE and have caused damage in coastal areas. The impact of natural hazard events in Fujairah since 1995 and the responses of the authorities and affected communities illustrates the issues faced by the country and is discussed in the thesis. The Federal Plan to face disasters in the UAE prepared by the Civil Defence sets out the role of the government structures in the UAE to manage disasters with particular reference to the Ministry of Interior, which is the responsible body. A survey of UAE ministries and the Civil Defence shows that in practice there is lack of clarity between the roles of government bodies and there are many areas of confusion regarding jurisdiction and responsibility between the federal and individual emirate institutions. It was a concern that some supporting ministries were unaware of their role as set out in the overall plan. There is lack of evidence of an integrated approach and no testing of effectiveness of emergency procedures through simulation exercises. It is recognized that, not only are school children particularly vulnerable to natural disasters but also that education is an important mitigation tool through raising awareness of hazard exposure amongst the population. A survey of schools in Fujairah showed that there was little preparation for natural disasters and no framework to address this issue or to ensure the structural integrity of school buildings. The survey revealed that there is a willingness to learn among the school children and this was followed up by a pilot scheme to raise awareness. This is important as the survey also revealed that traditional views about losses are still common amongst parents, particularly in rural areas. The vulnerability of the communities to natural hazards is strongly influenced by cultural and social factors. A survey was undertaken of the population in the UAE to investigate their awareness of natural hazards, their perception of risk and how this might be mitigated. The survey revealed a low level awareness and what the role of government agencies would be in the event of a disaster. A majority considered that disasters were Acts of God, a punishment, and the most effective way to mitigate risk was through religious observance. It is clear that even in a developed Islamic country an effective response to mitigate risk needs to recognize and address the cultural and religious contexts. Finally the thesis evaluates the response capability of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to the impact of natural hazards. This analysis shows that though there is a Federal Plan for Disasters there is little specific focus on natural hazards. Ministries not directly involved with the Civil Defence were sometimes unclear regarding their roles. At an operational level there is lack of clarity regarding responsibilities and lines of authority between different bodies and between Federal and emirate structures. The Civil Defence was very much focused on response with little effort devoted to reducing vulnerability through awareness-raising, hazard assessment and monitoring. These need to be addressed to minimize the risk from natural disasters
