The life of the Chinese in Indonesia has been very integrated with the local Indonesian society, despite this, the Chinese still retain the traditional Chinese culture, especially in the exchange between the worship of gods and deceased ancestors (Jiaobei) and fortune-telling (asking for signatures), the cup is a way of communication between humans and Chinese belief in the gods, people believe that Jiaobei can answer people's question, that is, asking for a visa is an ancient Chinese fortune-telling method. The author is very interested in the tradition of asking for signatures and Jiaobei, and I would also like to know about the understanding and preservation of the inheritance of the Chinese people in western Jakarta. The results of this study are that the elderly have a deeper understanding of visa requests and cups, middle-aged people have a general understanding of visa requests and cups, and young people have little understanding of visa requests and Jiaobei. The elderly have the highest retention of visa requests and cups, middle-aged people have average reservations for visa requests and Jiaobei, and young people have lower reservations about visa requests and cups. Perhaps because of the environment or the fact that families rarely do visa requests and Jiaobei, the Chinese in West Jakarta have fewer and fewer reservations about visa requests and cups

Quality of Work Life Program to Enhance and Align the Industrial Relations

    Get PDF
Advances in technology and globalization bring various effects on the employment issue in Indonesia, including the effect of freedom to make association. These conditions lead to polarization between the interests of management and the interests of workers, which is commonly discussed as industrial relations. If the problems in industrial relations can not be solved, then a strike action will happen, which causes damage to many parties. The following research is part of a series of research that aims to develop and implement programs based on the concept of Quality of Work Life (QWL). The assumption used is when the quality of working life increases, it is expected that the quality of industrial relations will also increase, which in turn will increase productivity, organizational performance and competitiveness. From 5 dimensions of QWL, the focus of this research is on the dimension of work and non-work life balance, with the special topic of time management and assertive communication. This study used action research design, data collection used questionnaires, observations, interviews, and focus group discussion. Interventions carried out by the training. Quantitative and qualitative analysis of data showed that there is an increase in cognitive ability of the respondent in terms of time management and assertive communication, with the understanding that both of these skills can help them to obtain a balance between work and non-work life balance. Support from the organization is also needed to assist employees in achieving this

Adolescence is a period of transition from children to adulthood. During this stage, generallyteens experience a crisis of identity where they thrive to search for identity, they are no longer children but also not yet full-grown adult. This transition period often brings its own pressure for teens because of the changes they experience either physically, hormonal and even emotionally. The most obvious changes in adolescence is their physical changes in certain body parts that are also related to their sexuality. In Eastern culture, parents are not being able to discuss sexuality openly with their children, therefore teens are reluctant to ask their parents regarding changes in their bodies or even the different feelings they have been experiencing. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of psychoeducation in adolescents to increase knowledge of church X teenage sexuality. The subjects of this study were church X youth groups, amounting to 21 teens. This research is an experimental study using pretest-posttest group design. Psychoeducation is given as many as 6 (six) sessions which are divided into 2 (two) days

Bullying in a form of intimidation that junior peers receive from their seniors are still happening in several high schools in Jakarta area, namely XYZ High School. The immediate effect of intimidation include fear of being near any place in that specific school that is considered as the senior turf. This in turn affects negatively on the students' sense of security and feeling of peace, thus possesses threats on their academic as well as non-academic achievements. This research aims to empower students to become bystanders who are willing to intervene thus prevent the occurrence of bullying. The students' willingness to be able to intervene requires certain skills in empathy, thus this intervention program provides training to increase empathy aimed at a group of student council members in order for them to be able to intervene properly. Literatures in empathetical skills used in the design of this program will increase prosocial behaviour so that bullying will decrease on its own after its delivery. The program includes: recognizing others' perspectives, recognizing others' needs, and increasing the sense within self to help others in need. This research used an action research design that focuses on explorative narratives. Analysis used a Wilcoxon signed-ranks that showed students' empathetical skills increased after intervention of program was delivered (pretest-post test score on empathetical skills IRI Z = 2,836, p <0,005). The increased empathetical skills in students are expected to decrease bullying behaviour within XYZ High School in Jakarta

Adolescence stage is known as ‘strom and stress’ phase. Changes in biological, cognitive, affective, and social functions can also be a problem and cause stress for teenagers. Even with high levels of stress experienced by teenagers, they often do not know what they have and how to manage their stress. The lack of coping skills in teenagers makes the way the cope less effective. This research provides counseling related to stress and how coping can be done effectively for teenagers. The subjects in this research were 20 teenagers who were members of the ROCKET community. The result is it is succeeded in increasing participants’ knowledge related to stress and effective coping methods. The particiants succeeded in reducing their stress level and half of the participants were encouraged to do more effective coping skills

Combined fit to the spectrum and composition data measured by the Pierre Auger Observatory including magnetic horizon effects

The measurements by the Pierre Auger Observatory of the energy spectrum and mass composition of cosmic rays can be interpreted assuming the presence of two extragalactic source populations, one dominating the flux at energies above a few EeV and the other below. To fit the data ignoring magnetic field effects, the high-energy population needs to accelerate a mixture of nuclei with very hard spectra, at odds with the approximate E2^{-2} shape expected from diffusive shock acceleration. The presence of turbulent extragalactic magnetic fields in the region between the closest sources and the Earth can significantly modify the observed CR spectrum with respect to that emitted by the sources, reducing the flux of low-rigidity particles that reach the Earth. We here take into account this magnetic horizon effect in the combined fit of the spectrum and shower depth distributions, exploring the possibility that a spectrum for the high-energy population sources with a shape closer to E2^{-2} be able to explain the observations

Studies of the mass composition of cosmic rays and proton-proton interaction cross-sections at ultra-high energies with the Pierre Auger Observatory

In this work, we present an estimate of the cosmic-ray mass composition from the distributions of the depth of the shower maximum (Xmax) measured by the fluorescence detector of the Pierre Auger Observatory. We discuss the sensitivity of the mass composition measurements to the uncertainties in the properties of the hadronic interactions, particularly in the predictions of the particle interaction cross-sections. For this purpose, we adjust the fractions of cosmic-ray mass groups to fit the data with Xmax distributions from air shower simulations. We modify the proton-proton cross-sections at ultra-high energies, and the corresponding air shower simulations with rescaled nucleus-air cross-sections are obtained via Glauber theory. We compare the energy-dependent composition of ultra-high-energy cosmic rays obtained for the different extrapolations of the proton-proton cross-sections from low-energy accelerator data
