Chronic Pain: Improving Patient Awareness of Management Options

    Get PDF
Chronic pain affects 100 million Americans and places a significant burden on patients and their families. Opioids are frequently used to manage chronic pain, and their potential for misuse, addiction, and adverse effects are of growing concern in Vermont. Increasing patient awareness of different pain management options could decrease patient suffering and mitigate the opioid epidemic. This project aimed to educate patients on chronic pain management and resources available in Franklin County.https://scholarworks.uvm.edu/fmclerk/1270/thumbnail.jp

Petrochemical and petrophysical characterization of the lower crust and the Moho beneath the West African Craton, based on Xenoliths from Kimberlites

Additional evidence to the composition of the lower crust and uppermost mantle was presented in the form of xenolith data. Xenoliths from the 2.7-Ga West African Craton indicate that the Moho beneath this shield is a chemically and physically gradational boundary, with intercalations of garnet granulite and garnet eclogite. Inclusions in diamonds indicate a depleted upper mantle source, and zenolith barometry and thermometry data suggest a high mantle geotherm with a kink near the Moho. Metallic iron in the xenoliths indicates that the uppermost mantle has a significant magnetization, and that the depth to the Curie isotherm, which is usually considered to be at or above the Moho, may be deeper than the Moho

The mineralogy of global magnetic anomalies

    Get PDF
The Curie Balance was brought to operational stage and is producing data of a preliminary nature. Substantial problems experienced in the assembly and initial operation of the instrument were, for the most part, rectified, but certain problems still exist. Relationships between the geology and the gravity and MAGSAT anomalies of West Africa are reexamined in the context of a partial reconstruction of Gondwanaland

A Principal’s Lessons Learned: Implications for School Leadership

    Get PDF
Introduction by: Ann Monroe-Baillargeon, Ph.D. Alfred University Mary Haggerty and Susan Schultz in “A Principal’s Lessons Learned” provide for us professional insights from their interactions with parents of students with special needs. It is a powerful statement to lead off our monograph, Duets and Dialogue: Voices on Inclusive Practices in Our Schools, with a focus on the relationship between school administrators and parents. All too often, our focus on parents comes at the end of a long list of other priorities, curriculum, instructional practices, student needs, etc. It is exciting to see that a focus on parents and the importance of school leadership to listen with the purpose of understanding, developing trust, and engaging parents in the change process help to frame our understanding of inclusive practices right from the beginning, rather than waiting to the end. Thank you to Mary Haggerty, Susan Schultz and the parents who generously shared their insights in getting our Duets and Dialogue monograph off to a great start

Usability Studies in the Electronic Resource Lifecycle

    Get PDF
The usability of e-resources and services contributes to library patrons’ use and satisfaction with them, which in turn affects library employees’ acquisition, provision of access, administration, support, and evaluation of e-resources. Librarians can integrate usability into the e-resource lifecycle in a variety of places and using numerous methods. This presentation provides an introduction to usability testing, highlights two usability case studies involving e-resources, and discusses how librarians might fruitfully incorporate usability methods throughout the e-resource lifecycle
