Why are male students less likely to opt for social science courses? : a theory-driven analysis
Copyright © 2020 SageIn this article, we discuss the question of why only a few men decide to study social science courses such as social work. While the conceptual base of our analysis includes the theory of planned behaviour and theories centring on gender role orientations, the empirical base is a random cluster sample of high-school graduates in Switzerland. The results show different gender effects, as well as direct and indirect effects, for all the theory of planned behaviour factors. Gender role orientations and the question of how a social science profession fits one’s own gender identity appear to be of particular importance only among male students
Thermodynamic Properties of Yukawa-Schwarzschild Black Hole in Non-commutative Gauge Gravity
In this paper we construct a non-commutative gauge theory for the deformed
metric corresponding to the modified structure of a gravitational field in the
case of Yukawa-Schwarzschild non-commutative space-time. The thermodynamic
properties and corrections to the gravitational force on the horizon of a
non-commutative Yukawa-Schwarzschild black hole are analysed.Comment: 12 pages, 4 figure
Minimality of invariant submanifolds in Metric Contact Pair Geometry
We study invariant submanifolds of manifolds endowed with a normal or complex
metric contact pair with decomposable endomorphism field . For the normal
case, we prove that a -invariant submanifold tangent to a Reeb vector
field and orthogonal to the other one is minimal. For a -invariant
submanifold everywhere transverse to both the Reeb vector fields but not
orthogonal to them, we prove that it is minimal if and only if the angle
between the tangential component (with respect to ) of a Reeb vector
field and the Reeb vector field itself is constant along the integral curves of
. For the complex case (when just one of the two natural almost complex
structures is supposed to be integrable), we prove that a complex submanifold
is minimal if and only if it is tangent to both the Reeb vector fields.Comment: To appear in "Ann. Mat. Pura Appl. (4)", March 201
Effective mass in quantum effects of radiation pressure
We study the quantum effects of radiation pressure in a high-finesse cavity
with a mirror coated on a mechanical resonator. We show that the optomechanical
coupling can be described by an effective susceptibility which takes into
account every acoustic modes of the resonator and their coupling to the light.
At low frequency this effective response is similar to a harmonic response with
an effective mass smaller than the total mass of the mirror. For a plano-convex
resonator the effective mass is related to the light spot size and becomes very
small for small optical waists, thus enhancing the quantum effects of
optomechanical coupling.Comment: 11 pages, 4 figures, RevTe
THE ANALYSIS OF LEGAL PROTECTION ASPECTS FOR WOMEN AS VIOLENCE’S PERPETRATOR BASED ON JUSTICE VALUE
Households between husband and wife, and parents and the children conflict often occur. It is a natural thing in a household, there is no household that runs without conflict, almost all families have experienced. The different is how families resolve and overcome the conflicts. Each family has its own way to solve the problem, how the family resolves the problem depends on family members how to deal with a problem calmly without emotion and prioritize personal interests, so the problem can be resolved properly. The state's obligation to carry out the elimination of domestic violence is carried out through the criminal justice system. Criminal justice system can be interpreted as the use of a system approach to the mechanism of criminal justice administration and criminal justice as a system as a result of interactions between legislation, administrative practices and rational attitudes or social behavior and by efficient means to provide certain results with all its limitations. Domestic violence is categorized as a juridical crime stipulated in Law Number 23 year 2002 concerning the Elimination of Domestic Violence. The scope of the household includes husband, wife and child; people who have family relationships because of blood relations, marriage, dairy, care, and guardianship, who live in the household; and/or people who work to help the household and settle in the household. As a crime, domestic violence can be punished as a criminal threat stipulated in Law Number 23 year 2002. Domestic violence can be carried out by women, all the physical violence, psychological violence, sexual violence and neglect. Women in the criminal justice system are still protected by the separation of detention rooms and examined by women's units. In a crime prevention system, character education is needed especially for prospective parents to provide an understanding of the concept of marriage, being a wife, husband, daughter-in-law, parents and members of a community. Keywords: Legal protection, Women's Domestic Violence, Value of Justice
To Cheat or not to Cheat? Sex Differences and Academic Performance as Factors of Cheating Behavior
Cheating behavior at higher education is a global phenomenon since it is found at any university in any country. This study is to examine whether sex differences and academic performance reflect the different likelihood of doing cheating among students. Using a questionnaire, data were collected from 436 students selected from different semesters and study programs in all faculties at a State Islamic University. Data were analyzed by using logistic regression, both separately and simultaneously. The results of data analysis revealed that male students tend to be more likely to do cheating categories than that of their female counterparts. It also found that academic performance affects negatively the likelihood of students to cheat in three categories of cheating behavior, but not in the other three. There is no stimulant effect of sex and academic performance on the likelihood of all categories of cheating behaviors. In other words, the effect of sex differences is not depended on academic performance and vice versa
REGRESI LOGISTIK: MENAKSIR PROBABILITAS PERISTIWA VARIABEL BINARI
