Role of Service Environment for Restaurants: The Youth Customers’ Perspective

    Get PDF
AbstractRestaurants are important in generating income for many Asian countries. Therefore, determinants for restaurant service quality need to be identified, especially for the important segments (i.e., youths). This paper examines the importance of service environment (servicescape and human service), food quality and price from the youth's perspective. The types of restaurant investigated were the fine dining, fast food, and food court restaurants. A total of 407 usable questionnaires were analysed. The key determinants on satisfaction and loyalty were human service and price. The impact of servicescape on customer satisfaction and loyalty was relatively smaller, except for fast food restaurants

A 12b 250 MS/s Pipelined ADC With Virtual Ground Reference Buffers

    Get PDF
The virtual ground reference buffer (VGRB) technique is introduced as a means to improve the performance of switched-capacitor circuits. The technique enhances the performance by improving the feedback factor of the op-amp without affecting the signal gain. The bootstrapping action of the level-shifting buffers relaxes key op-amp performance requirements including unity-gain bandwidth, noise, open-loop gain and offset compared with conventional circuits. This reduces the design complexity and the power consumption of op-amp based circuits. Based on this technique, a 12 b pipelined ADC is implemented in 65 nm CMOS that achieves 67.0 dB SNDR at 250 MS/s and consumes 49.7 mW of power from a 1.2 V power supply

Report-writing Disposition and Achievement Orientation: An exploratory research on MUET students

    Get PDF
This paper aimed to gauge the MUET students’ report-writing dispositions and achievement orientation as well as examine the influence of selected demographic variables on these two variables. The research was conducted on two groups of MUET students (79 students) in a government secondary school in Kuching. The findings indicated that the multi-item writing disposition and achievement orientation were reliable. These two variables were having a weak association. The report-writing dispositions of the surveyed MUET students were generally low, but their achievement orientations were satisfactory. The demographic variables had significant influences on their report-writing disposition, but not their achievement orientations. Keywords: Report-writing disposition; Achievement orientation; MUET English.    eISSN: 2398-4287 © 2020. The Authors. Published for AMER ABRA cE-Bs by e-International Publishing House, Ltd., UK. Integrating libqual and kano model for library service excellence / Voon Boo Ho

    Get PDF
The proposed research aims to integrate the LibQUAL and Kano Model to identify the service attributes which will be useful for library service quality improvement towards excellence. The research will involve the identification of current service attributes (e.g. from LibQUAL), measuring user opinions on functional/dysfunctional attributes then categorizing the attributes based on Kano Model. The user satisfaction will also be measured so as to identify the strong and weak attributes. The strengths and weaknesses of the library service will be categorized (i.e., Must-be, One-dimensional, Indifferent and Attractive) in order to suggest for Maintain, Further development for innovative processes, and Improve. The library service quality, emotional experience, user satisfaction and behavioural intentions will also be investigated

Energy requirement for maintenance of growing and adult male lesser mouse deer (Tragulus javanicus) in captivity.

A study was conducted to determine the energy requirement for maintenance of eight lesser mouse deer, consisting of four growing males (6–8 months of age) with average body weight of 1.4 ± 0.2 kg and four adult males (>2 years of age) with average body weight of 1.6 ± 0.2 kg. The animals were from the colony reared at the Department of Animal Science, Universiti Putra Malaysia. The experiment was based on a 2 × 4 factorial arrangement in Latin-Square design. The animals were kept in single pens and fed with different levels of feed (70%, 80%, 90% and 100% of ad libitum intake). The feed was made up of 95% pellet and 5% ‘kangkong’ (Ipomoea aquatica) leaves. The energy requirement for maintenance was determined by using the regression equations between metabolisable energy intake and energy retention or body weight change. Energy retention was calculated as the difference between metabolisable energy intake and heat production. The results showed that the metabolisable energy requirements for maintenance when calculated based on energy retention were 420.1 and 422.9 kJ kg−0.75 d−1 for growing and adult mouse deer, respectively, and when calculated based on weight change the values were 435.1 and 436.9 kJ kg−0.75 d−1, respectively. The efficiency of utilization of metabolisable energy for maintenance (km) for growing mouse deer was 0.58 and that for adult mouse deer was 0.54

Expectation-based teaching: an action research in English report writing / Ai Kiat Teo..[et al.]

    Get PDF
The concept of customer orientation in the field of marketing can be applied in teaching English. It is always necessary to understand students’ needs, discuss and share this information as well as respond to the information accordingly to improve students’ performance. This paper addresses the need for understanding the students’ needs and teaching accordingly to improve the quality of English report-writing. A proposed Expectation-based Teaching (EBT) approach was tested (n=79). The findings of the action research indicated that the students performed better when they understood what was expected of them in writing a statistical-based English report. The overall mean score of the students increased significantly after they were briefed and taught based on the expectations of the writing components. The content quality of their writing was much better than before. These trends were the same for samples with different demographic characteristics

Outcome-impact survey on the public awareness & appreciation programme and traditional knowledge documentation programme of Sarawak biodiversity centre / Voon Boo Ho... [et al.]

Outcome and impact evaluations for important service organisations such as Sarawak Biodiversity Centre is crucial in ensuring high quality policymaking and effective service operations management. A continuous and consistent emphasis on serving the targeted customer groups as well as the general public will always be necessary for excellent and sustainable biodiversity conservation and development in Sarawak. It is great to note that Sarawak Biodiversity Centre's core functions are generally wellregarded and respected towards Sarawak's biodiversity excellence. This six-month state-wide questionnaire survey which focuses on evaluating the Awareness & Appreciation Programme and Traditional Knowledge Documentation Programme of the Centre has found numerous favourable outcomes and impacts of the two programmes. Besides, there are also useful insights for further improvement. Sarawak Biodiversity Centre has been very actively involved in promoting Sarawak's biodiversity and educating the general public on the importance of Sarawak's biodiversity and the Traditional Knowledge related to Sarawak's biodiversity. The strategic programmes are developed and implemented accordingly. Specifically, the Awareness and Appreciation Programme helps to: i) provide opportunities for the general public to participate in the Centre's Awareness and Appreciation programme and enhance appreciation for the State's rich biodiversity and her biotechnology initiatives, ii) organize seminars and forums that focus on biodiversity-biotechnology topics, targeted at policy makers, key government officials, members of the academia, researchers and scientists, industry representatives and the media, and iii) collate and disseminate accurate and factual information on biodiversity-biotechnology to th

Label-free shotgun proteomics and metabolite analysis reveal a significant metabolic shift during citrus fruit development.

Label-free LC-MS/MS-based shot-gun proteomics was used to quantify the differential protein synthesis and metabolite profiling in order to assess metabolic changes during the development of citrus fruits. Our results suggested the occurrence of a metabolic change during citrus fruit maturation, where the organic acid and amino acid accumulation seen during the early stages of development shifted into sugar synthesis during the later stage of citrus fruit development. The expression of invertases remained unchanged, while an invertase inhibitor was up-regulated towards maturation. The increased expression of sucrose-phosphate synthase and sucrose-6-phosphate phosphatase and the rapid sugar accumulation suggest that sucrose is also being synthesized in citrus juice sac cells during the later stage of fruit development
