Nonperturbative and perturbative aspects of photo- and electroproduction of vector mesons

    Get PDF
We discuss various aspects of vector meson production, first analysing the interplay between perturbative and nonperturbative aspects of the QCD calculation. Using a general method adapted to incorporate both perturbative and nonpertubative aspects, we show that nonperturbative effects are important for all experimentally available values of the photon virtuality Q2. We compare the huge amount of experimental information now available with our theoretical results obtained using a specific nonperturbative model without free parameters, showing that quite simple features are able to explain the data.Comment: 19 page

How to Measure Chromo-magnetic Vacuum Background Field in e+ejetse^{+}e^{-}\to jets, Hadron-Hadron and Nucleus-Nucleus Collisions

    Get PDF
We propose a new type of the measurement which is sensitive to the QCD vacuum color-magnetic fluctuations: A measure of the axial assymetry of the hadronic final states produced in the high energy e+ee^{+}e^{-} collisions is related to the chromomagnetic vacuum field strength.Comment: 11 pages, latex,no figures, replaced, final version which takes into account criticisms of referees of Phys.Rev. Decomposition of the QCD String into Dipoles and Unintegrated Gluon Distributions

We present the perturbative and non-perturbative QCD structure of the dipole-dipole scattering amplitude in momentum space. The perturbative contribution is described by two-gluon exchange and the non-perturbative contribution by the stochastic vacuum model which leads to confinement of the quark and antiquark in the dipole via a string of color fields. This QCD string gives important non-perturbative contributions to high-energy reactions. A new structure different from the perturbative dipole factors is found in the string-string scattering amplitude. The string can be represented as an integral over stringless dipoles with a given dipole number density. This decomposition of the QCD string into dipoles allows us to calculate the unintegrated gluon distribution of hadrons and photons from the dipole-hadron and dipole-photon cross section via kT-factorization.Comment: 43 pages, 14 figure

Photoproduction of J/psi mesons at high energies in parton model and k_t-faktorization approach

We consider J/psi meson photoproduction on protons at high energies at the leading order in alpha_s using conventional parton model and k_t-factorization approach of QCD. It is shown that in the both cases the colour singlet mechanism gives correct description for experimental data from HERA for the total cross section and for the J/psi meson z-spectrum at realistic values of a c-quark mass and meson wave function at the origin Psi (0). At the same time our predictions for p_t-spectrum of J/psi meson and for p_t dependence of the spin parameter alpha obtained in k_t-factorization approach are very different from the results obtained in conventional parton model. Such a way the experimental study of a polarized J/psi meson production at the large p_t should be a direct test of BFKL gluons.Comment: LaTeX2e, 11 pages plus 8 fig. using epsfig.st

Elastic and quasi-elastic pppp and γp\gamma^\star p scattering in the Dipole Model

We have in earlier papers presented an extension of Mueller's dipole cascade model, which includes sub-leading effects from energy conservation and running coupling as well as colour suppressed saturation effects from pomeron loops via a ``dipole swing''. The model was applied to describe the total and diffractive cross sections in pppp and γp\gamma^*p collisions, and also the elastic cross section in pppp scattering. In this paper we extend the model to describe the corresponding quasi-elastic cross sections in γp\gamma^*p, namely the exclusive production of vector mesons and deeply virtual compton scattering. Also for these reactions we find a good agrement with measured cross sections. In addition we obtain a reasonable description of the tt-dependence of the elastic pppp and quasi-elastic γp\gamma^\star p cross sections

Dipole model for double meson production in two-photon interactions at high energies

    Get PDF
In this work the double vector meson production in two-photon interactions at high energies is investigated considering saturation physics. We extend the color dipole picture for this process and study the energy and virtuality dependence of the forward differential cross section. Comparison with previous results is presented and the contribution of the different photon polarizations is estimated.Comment: 20 pages, 8 figures, 1 table. Single Spin Asymmetry ANA_N in Polarized Proton-Proton Elastic Scattering at s=200\sqrt{s}=200 GeV

    Get PDF
We report a high precision measurement of the transverse single spin asymmetry ANA_N at the center of mass energy s=200\sqrt{s}=200 GeV in elastic proton-proton scattering by the STAR experiment at RHIC. The ANA_N was measured in the four-momentum transfer squared tt range 0.003t0.0350.003 \leqslant |t| \leqslant 0.035 \GeVcSq, the region of a significant interference between the electromagnetic and hadronic scattering amplitudes. The measured values of ANA_N and its tt-dependence are consistent with a vanishing hadronic spin-flip amplitude, thus providing strong constraints on the ratio of the single spin-flip to the non-flip amplitudes. Since the hadronic amplitude is dominated by the Pomeron amplitude at this s\sqrt{s}, we conclude that this measurement addresses the question about the presence of a hadronic spin flip due to the Pomeron exchange in polarized proton-proton elastic scattering.Comment: 12 pages, 6 figure
