The pedigree file of the Boer and Nubian goat breeds in Mexico was constructed using the national database provided by the Asociación Mexicana de Criadores de Ganado Caprino de Registro. Field technicians routinely updated the goat national database by recording information from flocks participating in the performance-recording system. Information on animal identification number, parents, birth date, sex, breed, and farm of origin were used to undertake pedigree analyses using the ENDOG program (version 4.8). This paper presents a pedigree data file, tables and figures of characteristics of pedigree data, pedigree analyses, pedigree integrity, effective population size and genetic conservation index. The data can be used to estimate other population parameters, to monitor the genetic diversity of the Boer and Nubian goat breeds in Mexico, and also to design balanced breeding programs, maintaining genetic variation at reasonable levels and maximizing genetic progress in these populations.202

The Degree and regularity of vanishing ideals of algebraic toric sets over finite fields

Let X* be a subset of an affine space A^s, over a finite field K, which is parameterized by the edges of a clutter. Let X and Y be the images of X* under the maps x --> [x] and x --> [(x,1)] respectively, where [x] and [(x,1)] are points in the projective spaces P^{s-1} and P^s respectively. For certain clutters and for connected graphs, we were able to relate the algebraic invariants and properties of the vanishing ideals I(X) and I(Y). In a number of interesting cases, we compute its degree and regularity. For Hamiltonian bipartite graphs, we show the Eisenbud-Goto regularity conjecture. We give optimal bounds for the regularity when the graph is bipartite. It is shown that X* is an affine torus if and only if I(Y) is a complete intersection. We present some applications to coding theory and show some bounds for the minimum distance of parameterized linear codes for connected bipartite graphs

Cre recombinase microinjection for single-cell tracing and localised gene targeting.

Tracing and manipulating cells in embryos are essential to understand development. Lipophilic dye microinjections, viral transfection and iontophoresis have been key to map the origin of the progenitor cells that form the different organs in the post-implantation mouse embryo. These techniques require advanced manipulation skills and only iontophoresis, a demanding approach of limited efficiency, has been used for single-cell labelling. Here, we perform lineage tracing and local gene ablation using cell-permeant Cre recombinase (TAT-Cre) microinjection. First, we map the fate of undifferentiated progenitors to the different heart chambers. Then, we achieve single-cell recombination by titrating the dose of TAT-Cre, which allows clonal analysis of nascent mesoderm progenitors. Finally, injecting TAT-Cre to Mycnflox/flox embryos in the primitive heart tube revealed that Mycn plays a cell-autonomous role in maintaining cardiomyocyte proliferation. This tool will help researchers identify the cell progenitors and gene networks involved in organ development, helping to understand the origin of congenital defects. This research was supported by grant PGC2018-096486-B-I00 from the Spanish Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación and grant H2020-MSCA-ITN-2016-722427 from the EU Horizon 2020 program to M.T. Purpose: The purpose of this research has been to investigate whether burnout and eating behaviour traitswere associated with food intake.Design/methodology/approach: Participants (n¼109) 78 per cent female, mean age 39 years, wererecruited from various occupations within a UK university to complete an on-line survey. Dietary habits weremeasured using Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ), burnout using the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI)and eating behaviour traits using the Three Factor Eating Questionnaire (TFEQ) R18.Findings: Principal component analyses of FFQ responses revealed four dietary patterns: fast/junk food(+chicken and low fruit/vegetables); meat/fish; dairy/grains; beans/nuts. Dietary patterns were examined usingmultiple regression analysis as outcome variables with age, gender, burnout and eating behaviour traits asexplanatory variables. More frequent consumption of “junk/fast food” was associated with lower TFEQ-CognitiveRestraint, higher TFEQ-Uncontrolled Eating (UE), lower MBI-Emotional Exhaustion and higherMBI-Depersonalisation. More frequent consumption of beans/nuts was associated with higher TFEQ-UE andhigher MBI-Emotional Exhaustion. Models for meat/fish and grains/dairy dietary patterns were not significant.Research limitations/implications: Burnout may need to be considered to reduce junk food consumptionin higher education employees. Causality between burnout, eating behaviour traits and food consumptionrequires further investigation on larger samples.Originality/value: This appears to be the first study to have explored associations between burnout, eating behaviour traits and dietary patterns

On the frame of The South America Risk Assessment (SARA) project, an earthquake catalogue was compiled for South America, in terms of the moment magnitude (Mw), with data from the Centro Regional de Sismología para América del Sur (CERESIS), recent national and international studies, and from the analysis conducted during the project. In particular, it is included the latest versions of catalogue CERESIS-91 prepared by CERESIS and published by the National Council of Science and Technology CONCYTEC of Peru, the determination of parameters by recent studies, including those proposed by the ISC-GEM catalogue, and where available, the national catalogues that meet the criteria of transparency required by the project. The results presented in this work correspond to the pre-1964 time window. The first phase of the study is the development of a critical inventory of all public studies related to earthquakes in South America. Studies for the same event have been associated with each other from the comparison of the time, of the epicentre coordinates and the size of the earthquake (magnitude or maximum seismic intensity). For each event, a set of parameters considered reliable has been preliminarily selected. The main problem of the catalogue is the need to express the values of magnitude in terms of moment magnitude (Mw). Currently, few studies on historical earthquakes provide this value for the study region. For many events, values in terms of Ms and mb are available; although for most cases, because of the time of occurrence of these events, the magnitude values were calculated from macroseismic data. For these earthquakes we have used empirical conversion relationships published in literature for Ms and mb to Mw. There are also events for which only a value of maximum intensity (Imax or Io) is available. For these events, regional relationships Imax to Mw have been determined, using the most reliable and recent data of Mw and Imax values. In a second phase, for some events that have a sufficient number of macroseismic data, the source parameters have (including location, Mw and uncertainties) been determined using the method of Bakun and Wentworth (1997), regionally calibrated, based on what already has been obtained for Ecuador, Venezuela in literature and Colombia in the present project. In this way, the magnitude Mw was evaluated for 2564 earthquakes in South America. The lower threshold is defined in Mw = 5 for the Andean region. For Brazil, a lower threshold was not applied.Published6T. Studi di pericolosità sismica e da maremotoN/A or not JC
